6 Month Post-op Carb-free Diet?
GayleSBennett replied to My Big Day 3/15/2011's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a little bit of carbs.. but its in the form of milk. My body can't digest bread, pasta, rice, cake, donuts, etc. anymore. I also can't do raw vegetables or fruit. -
Scale Finally Moved........
GayleSBennett replied to cbchebert's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I'll be 3 months on the 17th. It seems that one week out of the month I lose nothing. And then will lose like crazy about a lb a day. I think thats when my body is retaining Water before my period. But I have tracked my weight on fitday.com and sure enough once a month it will stay the same for about 7-10 days. Congrats on your weight loss! -
So sorry that you're dealing with this. Obviously its more than just the surgery. Congratulations on your weight loss. Keep doing you! But can I ask.. I know I read that we shouldn't puke.. but I was sick a while ago as well and once I did puke it up I felt much better. I don't understand why we shouldnt. Thank you so much.

How Should I Feel 4 days post-op?
GayleSBennett replied to cbchebert's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sore for about a week because of gas. So I just walked as much as possible and took those Gas X strips. Those will become your friend. You will also be very tired. But every day you will feel better. Congratulations -
Four months out and reality has kicked in
GayleSBennett replied to Estrellita's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
My struggles are not with the food, but with my brain. I know my body does not like rice, Pasta, potatoes, cake, Cookies, candy, ice cream anymore. I tried them all and became super high and my body felt out of whack. So I now choose to not have any. BUT my brain will say, "OooH I want Chinese." I won't order it but then I'm fixated on Chinese food for a few days. I know I can't eat the rice or wontons. But the thought of Chinese food drives me insane. I'm 8 weeks out. -

Post-op diet - not enough calories?
GayleSBennett replied to Susanne's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I was on a liquid diet I was able to have jello. Can you eat jello to up your calories a bit? -
My surgeon pushed for the bypass. In fact so did my friend's surgeon. We came up with the reason that its because they get paid more from insurance companies.

I had had 3 pieces of bite size Candy over the past two weeks. Snickers made me higher than a kite. KitKat tasted good and seemed to calm my sweet tooth. Then tonight (Halloween) I had an Almond Joy. The coconut did not sit well in my stomach at all.

How did you choose?
GayleSBennett replied to NewMe2011's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
As bad as this sounds, I made my decision based on economics. I couldn't afford to be out of work for weeks with the bypass and I couldn't afford the $150.00 per month to fill the lapband. -

Gastric sleeve - Vertical sleeve what is the difference?
GayleSBennett replied to Roselockett's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
But can someone explain to me what a Gastric Sleeve Plication is? Thank you kindly! -
If I do not eat every 3 hours, I will get hunger pains. Not real pain but rumblings in my stomach telling me I waited too long to eat. I eat my little food and I'm good for the next few hours. I can go longer than 3 hours without food as long as I am drinking Water. I've been post-op for 6 weeks.

148 pounds gone and Goal reached
GayleSBennett replied to Garyb_58's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
That is wonderful!! Congratulations! -
Yes. When I was just out of surgery I didn't know how much food exactly I could eat, so I would eat that last bite and feel like I was going to die. I bought Gas X strips and would take several and a few hours later I felt better. I never had issues the following day. So I wonder if you still have gas that is still trapped. You may want to buy Gas X strips and see how you do.

Which Scales Do I Believe?
GayleSBennett replied to cbchebert's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My home scale is only off about 2 lbs from the doctors. But I used the Wii Fit the other day and it said I lost 14lbs in one day. lol hmmm I'd LOVE to use that scale! -
I'll go to Wendys and get a chili. I will buy 1/2 tupperware cups with lids and split the chili into three of them and that will be three meals. I also will have a slice of cheese and wrap it around turkey or ham. these are easy things to eat at my desk.

You guys look great!

Drain OUT, but now worried!
GayleSBennett replied to M2G's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi there! It will close on its own. Just put gauze on top of it and secure it with tape. I did it for about 4 days and then it stopped leaking. Just change it each time you shower. =) -
When you DO break a stall......
GayleSBennett replied to Connie0394's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I always go back through my foods and when it shows I've done the same thing as the past week.. I get a little nutty. lol. I can only imagine how you handle it. Then I do a happy dance and post immediately my new weight to the bb. lol There's no rhyme or reason to stalls.. Congratulations!! =) -
A lot of people on this board are self-pay. Are you able to get a loan and pay for your own surgery? Or perhaps you can think of Mexico?

GayleSBennett replied to BlackBerryJuice's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I purchased snickers for the office today. I ate one mini and immediately said yuck. Made me super high from the sugar and it just didnt taste the same. It was AWESOME!! I no longer need candy!! =) (Happy dance) I also had a mini ice cream haagan daz coffee ice cream yesterday. All I tasted was the sugar. Those are off my list too. Its so great to be able to say.. NO, I don't need them. NO, I don't want them. And truly mean it. Have a great day ladies and gents!
