Purging after surgery
GayleSBennett replied to emtakespictures's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
STOP PURGING!! Its a learning process, you have to learn to eat slow. You have to learn to eat small bites. I'm a little surprised that you're on solids when most of us at 2 weeks have been on full liquids only, but if your doctor said to do food.. then he/she knows best. Eat small amounts, 1/2 cup at most. Take about 20-30 minutes to eat that 1/2 cup. If you're following the diet to a T then you will be successful. Period. There's no room for error if you're following the doctor's orders. You WILL lose weight and you WILL be successful. But you will kill yourself if you continue to purge yourself. (I feel like I'm being punked because I can't believe anyone would purposely throw up after eating, especially several times a day, after having this surgery) Best wishes for you. -
As long as my calories are over 800.. I do not feel tired or loopy.

Is that 'full' feeling the same post op as it was pre op?
GayleSBennett replied to FlyGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Jordien: I tried pizza for the first time the other day and i was only able to eat 1/4 of a personal size pizza. (4 slices) The toppings tasted great. The crust was hard to digest. I hope its easier for you. -

Is that 'full' feeling the same post op as it was pre op?
GayleSBennett replied to FlyGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If I take that one more bite (when I know I shouldnt) I feel like Thanksgiving x 10. Its a horrible, uncomfortable feeling. So the minute I feel satisfied, I stop. -
FAT ???'s and PROTEIN???'s
GayleSBennett replied to determined1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm bothered by this as well. I was told to get in as much as 75-100 grams of Protein. I tried looking online how to figure it out on how much protein to have but it was confusing.. weight x .45sdklfjaldsfj whatever lol Trial and error is my motto! -
Question to those of you who are sleeved already
GayleSBennett replied to hopeandfaith's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Each person is different, but I get hunger pains if I go too long without eating. It feels the same as it did before. I try not to get to that point tho and eat every two to three hours. Hard sometimes when you get into a project. -
For those of U that journal your food, what...
GayleSBennett replied to determined1's topic in Food and Nutrition
I use Fitday.com here is a link to my profile. I made it public for anyone to see it. It lists all the food I've eaten all week. http://fitday.com/fitness/PublicJournals.html?Owner=SinfulAllure But mainly I do 1000-1100 calories / 40-60 fat / 75 - 100 carbs / 75 - 100 Protein. My carbs are high because of the milk I use for my Protein shakes. -
Anytime I eat lower than 1000 calories, I stall. The past two days I've eaten 1000-1100 calories/100 carbs/40-50 fat/100 Protein and I've lost a lb each day. I can tell you though it is SOOOO hard to eat 1000 calories. But I also feel better when I eat this many calories. The other day i dipped down to 700 and I was tired and kind of loopy. Also I woke up at 3am very hungry and I refused to eat so i ended up with heartburn. I now do a slimfast Protein Drink with an additional scoop of whey protein before bed and I dont wake up with being hungry. Do whats best for you. Those nutritionists always spit out the guidelines. Its not individual.

Congratulations on your 8lb loss! =) Keep going!

Expected a stall - but a gain???
GayleSBennett replied to PamelaAM's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can't help it. I'm a scale addict as well. Several times a day I get on the scale. When I'm not dieting I never even look at the scale lol.. Drives me insane! =) -
I really like how EVERYONE goes through stalls and then starts weight again.. its such an upsetting experience at first. But when I see all these people who have lost 30, 40, 50lbs and keep losing.. it just gives me such motivation and comfort knowing that even through a stall.. (for 3 weeks!!) I will come out ahead. I also LOVE all of the positive people here. Its so easy to get down on ourself.. but its so nice to come here and know that people will lift you up and are struggling with you. Have a great day!

After the surgery I dreamt about food for weeks. I was miserable. But it goes away. Thank God!

Eating and Drinking Too Much
GayleSBennett replied to Fleur de lis's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi everyone! Just a quick question about stomach swelling.. how long does it take for the swelling to go away? Thank you! =) Fleur so glad you're able to eat something!! -
Hi all, I do not think I'm eating enough calories so my body is going in starvation mode. Ive been stuck at 600-900 per day. How can I figure out exactly how many calories per day that I need to eat in order to lose weight. My scale has been on 21lbs for a week now. I know it needs to be upped, but I dont want to up it and still be under the amount needed. Thank you in advance.

I didnt remember mine going in or out. drugs are great. BUT i wanted to tell you that I developed a cough.. and spit up nasty brown thick phlem (sp). Doctors and nurses said it was good to cough it up. It was from the tube and just dried blood or something. The first time I coughed it up I was horrified. I thought I was going to throw up. It was so thick and I couldn't get it out at first so I was afraid I would choke. But once I learned what it was, it got easier and I tried to get as much out as possible with each cough. I just wanted to warn you of this in case it happens. Don't panic. Just keep kleenex and the little spit pan near you so you can get as much out with each cough. Good luck!

Protein Shots instead of shakes
GayleSBennett replied to Lonna's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I use the SlimFast Protein and put in an additional spoonful of Whey unflavored protein powder. I use 1% milk. I get about 20g's of protein per glass. Tastes good. Only thing to worry about is the carbs in the milk. I drink about 3 a day. -
How much can you eat
GayleSBennett replied to jlomoregie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can only eat 2 or 3 bites and then I'm done. Any more than that and I have to take the GAS-X strips to calm my stomach. I've also learned if I eat anything with carbs, I immediately don't feel well. If its just meat or cheese, I feel fine. So I'm now going to do an Atkins type of diet. Lots of learning. =) -
Do not care for this new forum. The other was very easy to navigate. I could hit a button called New Posts and automatically find them. It took me 5 minutes to figure out to his the RSS feed. Also how do I update my signature? Its not under settings. Congrats on the upgrade, but please include instructions.

Need Size 24 or 26
GayleSBennett replied to wannabethin's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
No 26-24 but PM me when you're ready for 20's. I'm short though. 5 foot 1, so some may be 20P. I'll be happy to send them to you. -
I buy the unflavored Whey packets and I just put it in milk and juice. Tastes delicious. Probably can also put in scrambled eggs as well.
