  1. Sadly there are so many people that think we chose to be obese. If we only put that fork down we could be thin. I have had so many people offer to help me diet since I decided to have wls. Oh wow I have never thought about trying that before. Just thought it would be fun to have major surgery and have 85% of my stomach cut out. Seriously I would love to see what this lady looks like so we could analyze all of her flaws.

  2. We talked some yesterday. He still thinks that I should try to lose weight on my own. I did before, why can't I do it again. He thinks that I am going to change after losing weight. I told him I will be more confident, but that is not going to change how I feel about him. We have been together for 8 years and have been through a lot and this is just going to be a new adventure. Going out to dinner is what both love to do. We will have to learn new things to do together. I think going to the gym would be something we can do together or going for walks in the evening with our girls.

  3. Yes acid does decrease after time. Dr told me to expect to be on meds for about 6 months. It is not really like acid reflux, it is more like nausea/hunger from what my friend has told me. The body releases hormones when breaking down fat cells that cause a hormone surge could can lead to depression. Similar to post pardum.

  4. I am having my surgery Dec 1st. I know it will be awhile before I can eat some foods. I have not met with my nutritionist yet to go over my post op diet yet. I work crazy hours so I am a little concerned with eating healthy post op. What kind of meals do you eat for lunch? I do not have a lot of time to cook, so any suggestions would be great. How many times of day do you eat? I know Protein is first priority along with 64 oz of Water.

  5. Congrats on the surgery date!! I will be right behind you on Dec 1st. It is very exciting, but scary at the same time. I think we have all failed so many other times that is only natural to worry about that now. I think I will feel better once I go over the post op diet and I am better prepared for planning meals after the surgery. Good luck and keep us posted.

  6. You look incredible. I am shaped very similar to your before pics. I can only hope to look like that in 10 months from now. Side note I am glad to see that the lovely flabby underarms can look normal after weight loss. That is one of my fears, that I will have horrible loose skin on my arms and thighs. Congrats and thanks for sharing!!!

  7. Dec. 1st, CONGRATS!!!! It's right around the corner!

I won't be done with my pre-op until the first week of Dec so hopefully Aetna will approved pretty quick so I can have the surgery the last week of Dec. my surgeon thinks this shouldn't be a problem at all. And on top of getting the sleeve my Gyno will be coming in a tying my tubes at the same time! :blink

As long as your dr's office is on top of it, you should get approval quickly from Aetna. It only took 48 hours once paperwork was submitted to get my approval. It took my surgeon's office over 2 weeks to submit. I love my surgeon, but hate his office staff. All the reviews I have read say the same thing.

Probably a good time for the tubes also. Since fertility goes through the roof during weight loss. My hubby is getting snipped. I wouldn't mind getting a tubal, but my dr only practices at 3 catholic hospitals.

Keep in touch. I hope everything works out for you.

  8. They called me earlier today to set my date and I set it for Jan 19th. They wanted to do it next month. I am going to call first thing in the morning to schedule asap. Scared and excited. I seriously thought my dad would be completely against the surgery. He is the type that thinks if you just change your diet, you will lose the weight. I explained why I wanted to do it and all the research I have done and he said he understood. That is a miracle in itself.

  9. So I had planned not to have surgery until next year so that I could put money away for my deductible and my 20 %. I had decided not to tell my dad because I didn't think he would be supportive. I decided to tell him today. He said that he would give me the money for the surgery and to do it asap. Omg I will get to have the surgery this year!!!

  10. I was approved within 48 hours after submitting paperwork to Aetna. I assumed for inpatient, but I will have to double check on that now. Didn't know that was even a possible issue. I just called Aetna and verified. I am approved for inpatient. Currently I am approved for 1 day, the hospital would just need to call at time of service to get extended to 2 days. They said it was not a big deal.

  11. There are also theories on what day of your cycle that you get pregnant determines the sex. Male sperm are fast swimmers and get there first, but die soon. Female sperm swim slower but live longer. I got pregnant with both of my kids on day 13 and both are girls. My sil has 3 girls getting pregnant on day 13. I have another friend that swears by the Chinese calendar. It's all fun to think about, but you love what you get no matter what. Isn't trying suppose to be the best part anyway : )

  12. Honestly the first meeting with the nutritionist will start your 90 days. Start the exercise part the same week that you see the nut. Also get your dr office to right a note stating what your weight was in 2008, 2009 and 2010. Aetna will require 2 years weight history. My dr office said that I was a patient and my weight 03/08 was 243 and my weight 04/09 was 247. I was approved within 48 hours of the paperwork being submitted.

I saw the nutritionist 3 times and had to call with my last weight at the end of the third month. Logged my food 3 to days a week on the website they gave me to use.

I saw the physical therapist 3 times and had to log my exercise

    Pysch eval

Depending on surgeon you may have to do other testing. I had to do a pulmonary test because I smoke. Some require EKG and a endonoscopy. Depends on surgeon.

I was worried the whole time if I was doing it correctly, but I was approved without any issues.

  13. I just got approved thru aetna today. I had to meet with a physical therapist three times. She had me log exercise 3 times a week for the 3 months. I had to walk 20-30 minutes 3 days a week. My surgeons office set me up with the dietician and physical therapist. I hope this helps. If you have any other questions let me know. I was confused at first.

  14. I just got approved today and I have so many emotions. I have used food as my escape for do many years. I have hid from the world under these layers of fat. And let's not forget the fear of failure. I keep reminding myself, that I have tried this on my own for years. Lose weight then gain it back. We finally have a tool that is going to help us win the fight against food and ourselves for that matter. I think it is only natural to grieve the loss of our favorite comfort foods. I know that I want to be a fun mom and be able to do things that I have avoided for years. I want to be able to shop in normal stores. I want to be happy when I look in the mirror.
