  1. I had 2 different leak test today. The first one was drinking nasty stuff and the radiologist watched the fluid go thru. The second was eating ice that had blue dye on it. They check the drain to make sure there is no blue dye. Then I got to drink clear liquids.
  2. Yes it will. I had my gallbladder out 2 years ago. Once your body adjusts to the digestion, you will be fine. I am having that prob from the liquid diet. Liquid in liquid out. There are still some foods that trigger the diarrhea. It is almost like a smaller version of dumping syndrome.

    Proud of myself

You should be proud of yourself. You are making smart decisions and fighting the food demons. We all have them or we wouldn't be here. Congrats on the weight loss!! PS I am jealous you have Skyline chili. I love their chili!!

    freaking out

I just had my surgery 12 hours ago. I am a wimp when it comes to pain. When I was in the recovery room, I was in a lot of pain. They gave me more pain meds and I was fine. I have been up to the bathroom twice. I have already made a circle around the floor. I'm not going to say there is no pain, but it is tolerable. You will be fine. You will get a pca pump to control your pain. Make sure to tell the nurse if you are in a lot of pain because they will do anything they can to relieve the pain. Trust me if I can do this, anyone can!!!!
  5. I'm doing good. Have a lot of pain, but it is much more tolerable now. The pca pump is my best friend. My nurses have been awesome. Have my leak test in the morning, then I can start on liquids. Thanks for all the support.
  6. My surgery is at 1:45pm today. I have everything packed and ready to go. I tried to sleeping this morning, but it didn't work. I feel like a little kid on Christmas morning.

    2 months after sleeve

Almost 40 lbs makes a huge difference. I know it has to be hard seeing some people lose double that, but sometimes slow is better. Your body is doing it at your pace and your skin has a chance to tighten up as you lose. Still 36 lbs in 2 months is a huge accomplishment. When else have you been able to lose that in a short amount of time.
  8. I stuck to 1600-1800 calories a day. Once I gave up soda I had to increase my food intake. Tried to keep my protein between 80-100 grams per day. Drink lots of water, it helps with water retention. Chose healthy carbs like fruits and veggies. I still ate bread but used wheat bread. My main goals were to eat 3 times a day. I skipped breakfast before I started this. Also to practice eating without drinking. Chewing food to a paste consistency. Taking 20 mins to eat a meal, but no longer than 30 mins. I am a fast eater, so I have learned to slow down. Last but not least to give up my beloved soda. You will be fine. 2-4 lbs is considered water weight. If you go up or down a few pounds it doesn't matter. That is considered maintaining.

    My turn Tomorrow

Good luck!!! I report to the hospital at 11:00 am tomorrow.
  10. Yep. My bmi was 40.1. I was told to maintain not to lose. My nut said they are suppose to take your starting weight, but they have had issues in the past.
  11. I have been fairly confident in having the sleeve until today. Today is my first day of preop diet. I am now questioning if I am going to be able to succeed with the sleeve. Do I have the will power to stick with my post op diet? I am fighting head hunger already. I am not scared of the surgery itself. I am scared that I will go back to my old habits. Please tell me this is normal!!

    Anyone with Aetna?

Did you do the 3 month multi discipline? You have to do one or the other with Aetna. Go to Aetna.com and search obesity surgery, it will give you the criteria needed for surgery.

    Delicious Pinto Beans!

I can't have them until 2 months out. So weird how every diet is do different. I love pinto beans too. My family is from the south so they are a staple in your diet. Soup beans and cornbread. Will go without cornbread post sleeve.
  15. 48 hours to go. I feel horrible today. Between the carb withdrawal and caffiene withdrawal. I did cheat and have a small piece of low fat string cheese last night. It didn't help so no more cheating. Orange sugar free Popsicles are my new best friend. Thanks for all the support. I don't know how people do this for 14 days.
  16. I am drinking beef broth. It is nice to have something hot and salty. Almost through today, only 2 more days of this then surgery. I would kill for a chicken breast or some almonds. I am doing a little better now.
  17. I have my surgery 1 week from today and have a horrible cold. My hubby is sick too. I am hoping that I get over this quickly so my surgery doesn't get postponed. It is a virus so antibiotics will not help. Trying to get lots of sleep and fluids. Any other home remondies? I think I would try just about anything to get over this so I can have my sleeve!! Thanks for letting me whine. Lol
  18. So I have not heard from the hospital to pre register or what time my surgery is. How long before your surgery did you know the time?
  19. Thanks everyone!!! Feeling better. Start my pre op diet tomorrow surgery Wednesday.

Just got my letter from my Dr's office!

Depends on your insurance. I had to pay my co pay for psych eval. Pre op diet was free through surgeons office. Sleep study was 20% of cost. Haven't gotten that bill yet
  22. How long has it been since you quit? Are you taking a nicotine replacement? The first 3 weeks are the hardest. I chose to quit cold turkey. I got jolly rancher suckers to help with the needing to smoke. I have had friends quit recently with the e cigs. Blu cig or green smoke. Try changing your normal routine if when you would normally smoke. I fond doodling while talking on the phone to help. The car was my hardest battle. That's when I chewed on suckers.

    Clothing

I decided to order a few pairs of jeans online today in smaller sizes. Lane Bryant has everything buy one get one free. I can wear jeans to work so I firgured buying a few pairs at $20 a pair wasn't too bad. I definitely need to buy a belt.

    finally have my date

Congrats on your date!!! Most surgeons have financing. Even the surgeons in Mexico have financing. Also home equity loans or even a loan against your 401k. That way you are paying yourself interest.
