I was going through my email a little while ago and there it was... Time to sell Girl Scout Cookies again. I am not a sweets person except white wedding cake, Peanut Butter fudge and girl scout cookies. I am on day 5 post op and would kill to chew on anything. Now the thought of girl scout cookies. Ugh At least they will not be in my house to split up until the end of next month.

My 2 year old was sleep walking last night. She was standing in the middle of the family room and started screaming. I was half asleep and picked her up without thinking. As soon as I did it, I had a sharp pain in 2 of my incisions. I had to take pain meds for it. They have been sore all day. I was feeling them a little while ago and I have a hard knot under both of them. The other 2 incisions are fine. I am hoping that it is just scar tissue. Has anyone else had this happen?

I think I may have hurt myself
lisabug replied to lisabug's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So the dr said that I did over do it. One of those things that he is going to keep an eye on. If I have severe pain then I have to call him immediately. The concern is that it is an area that can easily become a hernia. I'm off work till Dec 27 except short term disability is trying to make me go back on light duty. We'll see what happens. Thanks for the support -

Peatie and sleeveorbust- thank you. Who would of thought girl scout Cookies would be such a hot topic. I read almost every post on here and a ton of people post is pre and post op what is going on with them. This is suppose to be for support and also to be enjoyable. I stopped reading as much since all this happened. Then I decided not to let trans ruin this for me. I have seen a ton of post that don't apply to me and move on. We all do. I would never say that something was posted in the wrong spot or that their thoughts were invaluable. Besides that I am doing well except for the set back with lifting my daughter too soon. I am off work longer now to let things heal again. My dr allowed me to move to mushies yesterday. I was able to chew. It's funny that my jaw actually hurt from chewing. I had gained a pound on full liquids. I lost 2 lbs yesterday on mushies so I am happy. My dr said that he thinks I am going to need higher calories to lose. I also need carbs along with Protein. It's all about finding what works for you. Good luck peatie on making through liquids. Chew on ice, it helps. Full liquids weren't that great for me. Everything was bland. Mushies are great and I'm not hungry at all now. Its worth it though.

Use myfitnesspal.com. It's a free website to track all of this for you. There is also an iPhone app for it. Around 25 grams

I was a planner too. First you need to find out what your pre op and post op diet. This will determine what you need. I was able to have milk in my Protein shakes even on clear liquids which is different from most. Also don't go overboard with the Vitamins. I spent a small fortune just to be told to take 2 flintstones and calcium citrate. I also do the sublingual b12 everyday during the healing stage to help with energy. Main thing is to have plenty of Water, broth or boullions, sf Popsicles, sf Jello, and whatever protein you like. Also get some comfy pjs or lounge pants for post op. Make sure they are loose and you can wear below your belly button. I roll my adidas pants down. I also wear a sports bra because it is more comfy and the top incision is close to the bra line. I bought liquid tylenol, haven't used yet, but good to have. Pepcid chewables, have to take twice a day, ask your dr. Miralax or milk of mag for constipation. Apple juice helps with that also.

I put mine on as soon as I could. I was tired of people coming in to check my incisions or drain and lifting up my gown and feeling very underdressed!!

The good news is that we will be able to eat pizza again. Probably not Chicago style, that may kill us. You may have to switch to St Louis style. I still miss smoking everyday. I would try to find a Protein shake you like post op besides the shots. You will want something in your stomach after a few days post op besides Jello, Popsicles and broth. I think a lot of us cheated on our pre op diets or at least came very close to it.

Do you know if we are allowed to have pureed chili during the mushies stage? I remember people talking about wendy's chili. I want chili so bad right now.

What exactly is the purpose of walking post op? And other questions
lisabug replied to peatie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Walking helps break down the gas from surgery and also helps prevent blood clots. I never had problems getting my fluids in. I was lucky and had no pain from drinking. I have gotten different answers on this one. My nut said to get at least 40 oz of water or flavored water in. The diluted juice counts also. I do not count my broth because there is so much sodium. Sf hot chocolate, sf pudding, sf fudge pops, cream of wheat and thin oatmeal are on my plan oh and sf applesauce. -
I think I may have hurt myself
lisabug replied to lisabug's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No I just noticed them today. The one by my belly button is pretty large. I think I will be staying in bed tomorrow and call my surgeon Monday morning. I know there is a risk of herniated incisions. Hopefully I am being paranoid. I just know it hurt like crazy when I did it. -
Depends on the surgeon. I only had the shots in the hospital. It is a very tiny needle and you do not feel it at all when injected in the stomach. It is to prevent blood clots. I didn't have to take at home, but had to make sure I was up moving or if I was resting and awake to move my legs around. It's not bad at all.

I am with you on that one. My nut told me to try chewing on ice cubes. It helps a little, but can't wait for real food. Do you feel really weak too?

Just sleeved on Tues and have questions about the pain
lisabug replied to drysdale's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me the pain was the worst on day 3. By day 5, I was off all pain meds. It is different for everyone. I would call your dr. Don't suffer through this. Hoping for a speedy recovery. -
I haven't heard of this one before. The only thing I could figure is the skin on grapes can be hard to digest. I can only have canned fruits with no skins at one month.

I will post where ever I feel like posting. This board is for support what ever type of support we need. If you feel that something is invaluable to you then move on like the rest of us do. I do not need you to interject your unnecessary comments. Your opinion Is your opinion, keep it to yourself when it comes to my post.

feeling presured to decide
lisabug replied to herealone's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a lot of issues sleeping before the surgery. Now my head hits the pillow and I am out. I don't even get up to go the bathroom any more. -
feeling presured to decide
lisabug replied to herealone's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well I'm only 8 days out. I have no issues with milk. I am able to drink without any problems. I went out to dinner, I just had soup and ate around what I couldn't have. I will not lie these first weeks are hard. I am not hungry, but I miss putting food in my mouth. The thing with the sleeve is that Adventually you will be able to eat most things in moderation. You have to decide what is best for you. I know with my second pregnancy, I had gestational diabetes and hypertension because of my weight. I know that I will not have any more children until I am healthier. -
In case you haven't noticed, this is what we do here. I am not touchy, you are just rude. When you are going through a liquid diet and the head hunger is driving you insane and you try to use humor to get through it, then you can talk to me.

I didn't know there was a thread police. If you don't have anything nice or constructive to say then keep it to yourself.

What Questions to ask surgeon
lisabug replied to Ibejjo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would also see what tests he requires pre op. You may want to ask if he allows you to swallow pills or if they have to be crushed. This will give you some time in case you have to change medicines. -
One week post op and I have only lost 4 lbs. I started my period the day of surgery. It was a week early. I wake up this morning and I started my period again today. I am sure this is part of the reason I'm not losing. I keep trying to stay positive about not losing a ton of weight the first week, but it is depressing. I know there are others out there that are in the same boat which helps. Please tell me that I didn't do this for nothing. I dread going back to work and everyone asking how much weight I have lost. Hoping to lose some over the next week to make up for this week. I think my body is pissed off at me right now.

Before surgery, I swore to myself that I wouldn't weigh myself everyday. That went out the window. I am going to wait until next Wednesday to weigh myself again. Tiffy I am glad to hear you gained weight and look where you are now. Mp you are right. Patience has never been one of my virtues. I think you fantasize about this for so long pre op, that no matter what, it is some what of a let down.
