When to go back to work?

I went back to work 6 days after my surgery. No problems.
  2. I was sleeved on the 12th and having the same issues. I think a lot of my problem is eating too fast (old habits die hard). I'm learning that eating slower allows me to recognize the full feeling before I overdo it. It's very hard for me to slow down, especially M-F. I work in a very busy doctor's office and fast is our normal pace... even for lunch!
  3. I was sleeved on 01/12/11 and now on a liquid diet for 2 weeks. My question is... would tomato soup prepared with skim milk be okay? Part of my "liquid" diet is protein shakes, which are prepared with skim milk, and are not clear liquids. So, obviously I'm not limited to just clear liquids. What do you think? Tomato soup sure sounds good right now, but don't want to mess anything up. Thanks!

    Just a little tip

I love mine so much I bought one for my sister. It's hard to beat Pampered Chef.

    Survived

All I know is they said it would be a morphine pump. Sorry I can't be more specific. I was sort of out of it.
  7. I had my surgery last Wed. (1/12/11) and planning to return to work Tue., (1/18/11). I have a desk job, for the most part, but will be limited to only answering the phones for at least a week.
  8. Thanks for the feedback. Think I should probably stay away from tomato based foods for awhile.
  9. Has anyone been told by their doc or nut that tomato based products will be on the "no" list because of the high acid content? When I got to thinking about the tomato soup, it seems like I've heard this.

    Any Arkansas Sleevers?

    I was sleeved 01/12/11!
  11. Sleeved on 01/12/11!

  12. Seems like I've been working toward this point forever, but it's actually been less than a year. Had my sleeve operation 2 days ago (01/12/11). I'm pretty sore, which I expected, and finding it a challenge to get in my Protein and liquids. If I drink too fast or too much in 1 swallow, it hurts. I could very easily lay down and sleep most of the day and night, but that won't help me get the liquids in. Just wanted to say "hi" from this side of surgery =]

    Survived

I had a pain pump for the first 24 hours, then they changed me to liquid Vicodin (nasty stuff).

    Finally Sleeved!

I did a little better on liquids and Protein today, but still not where my doctor wants me to be. My insurance bariatric nurse called yesterday and asked if my lips were very dry and if my urine was dark. I answered yes to both and she said I'm close to dehydration. I really tried to step it up today, but just can't seem to get it all in. Tomorrow is a new day and I'll hit it hard! Good luck to you Sassyatty! It's nice to have someone to share the journey with!
  15. I'm 49 and was sleeved last Wed., 01/12/11

    Day 3 after surgery

I'm 1 day behind you. I did quite a bit of walking in the hospital as well. Came home last night and have just been exhausted since. I still walk around the house, but not doing laps like at the hospital. I hope my day 3 doesn't bring the pain you described. I'm ready to start feeling like a human again

    Full Liquids post op?

The day of surgery I was NPO. Clear liquids and Protein shakes the day after surgery for 2 weeks. At my 2 week check-up I should go on mushies. I don't feel hungry, so it's no big deal. I was sleeved 2 days ago and still trying to get in all the liquids and protein he wants.
  18. I'm scheduled for VSG on 1/12/11 and can hardly believe it's really going to happen! I was scheduled for bypass on 11/10/10 but my mom became ill at the end of Sept. and passed away on 11/3. I cancelled everything. Although I had prayed for weeks, I went into my last doctor's appointment undecided and let the doctor talk me into the bypass. I never had a sense of peace with it though. After much more prayer, I feel the VSG is what I should do. My surgeon's office submitted everything again and got the approval in a matter of hours. I feel so comfortable with the decision and am thankful I had a chance to reconsider. I have my pre-op this week (11/6) and surgery next week! I'm so excited!

    Any Arkansas Sleevers?

I'm leaning heavily towards the sleeve. Surgeon is Dr. Josh Roller in Fayetteville.

    Public Service Announcement

Good to know! Will keep that in mind.
  21. I'm new here and in the process of jumping through the insurance hoops for weight loss surgery. I have my last visit with the doctor prior to them submitting for insurance approval next week and still undecided. Can anyone tell me why they chose the sleeve over the bypass? I appreciate your help. This is a big decision and I want to do it right! Tandy

    VSG vs GBS

Tiffy, thanks for the input. This is exactly the type of information I was hoping for. I'd love to check out your blog as well. Thanks again! Tandy
