Babs, Thanks, I was doing great for over a year, but over the spring/summer my restriction faded away. I'm going back to Mexico, because I have the french midband. I have been keeping an eye out for a doc in the states that will fill one, but so far no luck. I agree that the flouro won't show much, but my main concern is band placement. If it's in the right place, then I will be having a scope next. I have esophageal aches at times that can send pain up under my jaw. It's worse when I'm tired. They aren't constant, but are becoming more frequent. I don't know if that's a sign of a slip, as I haven't pb'd or slimed in months, or if I've stretched/dilated my esophagus. I am able to eat way too much, and wonder if like so many others, I've just lost my stop signal. I used to hiccup when I'd had enough, and if I weren't smart enough to stop right there, would have pain and pb's after another bite or two...not any more.

Another consideration is the band type you have placed. Most will only fill an inamed lapband. I am still keeping an eye out for an american doc that will fill a french midband. Good Luck

Cost, I went because I needed help and my insurance wouldn't cover it. I also had great service, no complications, and no regrets.

Congratulations and what a gorgeous baby! I absolutely adore the picture of her lying in daddy's arms with that heart warming grin...it speaks volumes of what a daddy's girl she's gonna be! That one should be blown up and framed. You all look very happy!

My band always tightens from illness, menses, stress, exhaustion. I agree that it's probably inflammation related. You can try warm liquids sipped slowly, though I personally do better with slushy drinks than I do warm ones when I'm tight. If warm doesn't work, break out your blender and ice. Keep the fluids going in to avoid dehydration. Try sleeping propped up on extra pillows to prevent regurgitation. If you stop being able to get anything down, or find your saliva won't go down, get to a doctor so you don't get aspiration pneumonia. I started taking airborne during winter months, and have used the CVS generic brand. It's an effervescent you dissolve in Water, like alkaseltser. It tastes like orange tang. I use it anytime I'm exposed at work or home to someone who's got a respiratory illness, and I swear it works for me! I haven't had a cold in 2 years. Last year every nurse on our unit had a bad cold, and I doubled up on the airborne, taking it every morning and again at bed time, and I didn't get it! Otherwise I take it once a day during cold season.

I think it's because we take care of everyone else, and don't make time or save energy for ourselves. I am a med/surg/tele/imc RN. We think we are always supposed to be the strong ones, and aren't so good at letting someone else be strong for us. We will however let food be a comfort. And yes we eat fast food fast... we OFTEN get called away from what few breaks we try to take...

There are 8 liquid ounces in a cup. 16 ounces dry weight in one pound.

That's GREAT news!! I'm so happy for you! With all the bandsters who's complications lead to debanding, it's very encouraging to see one at 3 years turn out to be ok! I keep reading your posts babs, and shellyj's, to make sure things have been going in the right direction, and I'm so relieved to hear this. I go for my first follow up check and a probable fill in Oct, after a full 2 years of banding. I have aches and pains in my stomach and esophagus that come and go, and each time I can't help but wonder if it means my band is failing, or I've failed it... I'm so glad to see that not all issues have to lead to removal! :clap2: I currently only have restriction in the morning, and am wide open from lunch time to bed time :hungry: I have gained a whopping 30# while working up the cash and courage to go back to Mexico... I've bought my tickets, and my first concern is getting that flouro, I've waited far too long to have this looked at. I'm hoping all is well, and I can get a fill, I miss having good restriction!

I'm sorry to hear of your difficulties, we all have such high hopes that with the band the weight we lose is gone forever. I haven't had another fill since banding 2 years ago, so have also gained over 30 pounds...bleh...but my own fault. (I've already purchased my flight tickets, I go for a flouroscopy, and if all is well, will get a fill Oct 16th.) ANYWAY... My husband is a lifetime long distance runner, and had the round of hyalgan injections to both knees in the spring of this year. He feels he had good results, and was pretty much pain free for several months. Now his knee pain is gradually returning, but is only in one knee so far, and still much less than it was pre-hyalgan. He feels the treatment was worth the cost, and the shots weren't as bad as he'd imagined they'd be. I wish you good luck and great results.

Regular coke isn't the only coke that's bad for us! Diet coke contains a derivative of formaldehyde. Formaldehyde stores in the bodies fat cells, which in turn protects the fat cell from breaking down for use as fuel. While you won't gain weight from drinking diet soda... It makes it harder for you to lose any! I believe it applies to all diet cola's

Who Still Drinks Caffeine In The Morning??
PamRN replied to ItsGottaGo!'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I pour a cup of coffee every morning, but generally am too restricted to get more than 1/2 down. If I'm lucky I can get a full cup in, but I have to reheat it a time or two because it takes a while. No restrictions by my doc though. -
HELP! REALLY FREAKED OUT - question
PamRN replied to Malice X Girl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
See your doctor, it could be gallbladder related or even pancreatitis. To prevent another episode avoid highly spiced or greasy foods. If you think it's gas, another otc med to try is pepcid complete. It's chewable and works pretty fast. Can I ask why the freezing bath? It seems like that would make you tense your muscles, and worsen pain. Try a warm one next time to relax, it may also help gas move. sorry originally posted before seeing your post related to gall stones. Do follow a careful diet to prevent further attack before you see your doctor. The pain comes from digestive juices produced by the gb that can't get out because of stones, these juices are acidic and can cause irritation of the gb and ducts, they also solidify into larger or more stones. -
nancy drew mysteries comics 10 for a dollar fair rides 10 for a dollar 25 cents for a gallon of gas a lg drink was 16 oz fishing with a cane pole playing in the rain tea-berry gum vaccinations enmass in the school gym, girls in slips or panties and t's, boys in briefs...how humiliating was that? just as bad...the one piece gym suit!!

There are several good surgeons in Mexico, and some bad ones. I've seen members here post about aceves but couldn't tell you who exactly. You can do a search with his name in the search box at the top of the lbt screen and posts about him should list for you to look through. Good Luck! I had great service in Mexico with my surgeon, clinic, and hotel. I'm going back on Oct 16th for my first fill since banding 2 years ago. If I had a chance to do it all over, I wouldn't hesitate to go to Mexico again. If I ever decide to have PS, I'm definitely going there!

2 years for me and so far so good. Keep in mind that a lot of folks only post when looking for information and support during a problem. Folks without problems may never post at all. Hence the appearance of more problems than not.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery, great loss of weight and no complications! Keep us updated as you can. Good Luck!

Tell Jon they're trying to get back in the picture. Tell him how YOU feel about that. Then ask him if He'd like you to take your friend and get the drums for him so he doesn't have to deal with what is probably an attempt to for them to reconnect with an easy financial resource. He may like that idea. It sounds like they are in dire straights again, and looking for someone to use. Don't put yourself on his 'betrayed by' list, by keeping it from him, snakes like them would use it against you to get to Jon. They've probably heard you're buying a house and want to move in with you. Getting rid of you would be a bonus in their eyes, one less person to share Jon's cash with. The chances that they are only looking for money are high. I can't imagine Jon would easily forget how they betrayed him, or allow them the chance to do it again. But you have to let him decide how to proceed with this for himself or it may be YOU that gets hurt this time.

People with diverticulitis have small areas along the colon that pocket out like little open bubbles along the walls of our intestines. These are super sensitive and easily irritated as well as able to pocket tiny foods... imagine then what could happen to a small sore spot that a tiny seed gets trapped in, along with stomach acids. Flare ups of severe pain, irritation, infection, bleeding, potential for rupture... low-residual diets are generally recommended for those patients. (one low in fibers, seeds or other nondigestibles) My guess would be that GB patients with so much of their intestines re-routed aren't able to digest seed type foods, so the concern could be that those foods would be irritating to what's left of their digestive tract. I personally wasn't told not to eat them, and haven't had any problem with seeds.

Speaking of PBS... anyone remember clutch cargo? My brother always watched Johnny Quest. The way the cartoons were stills but the mouths moved was considered great graphics back then!

I've browsed it a few times, like what I read, but have yet to utilize any of it...I gotta get my but in gear!! I've had a week long case of the blahs and I'm dying to break out of the duldrums. I love the sight, thanks for reminding me it's there. I"m awaiting that body clutter book review!

I take a mix of children's 6 chewable aspirins and 6 children's chewable acetaminophen (tylenol), neither med in any form works well for my bad headaches alone. I drink water afterward to wash them from my pouch. So far so good. Prebanding I was an exedrin junkie. (Extra strength Exedrin is aspirin, acetaminophen, and caffiene.)

We often give Zyrtec (prescription) for patients with Shingles, and it does come in a liquid form. Benadryl may help some, but check with your dr. Aveeno is good for chicken pox itch and scars, so it makes sense that it would help relieve shingles. The doc that diagnosed it didn't prescribe anything for you? Keep in mind that shingles are a infectious to anyone who hasn't had chicken pox as long as you have an active outbreak. We use droplet masks, gloves, and gowns when we go into patients room when they are in active phase.

I can relate, I also turn down most anything that requires my participation without giving me freedom of choice. At my work, in another county, that doesn't support needs in my own neighborhood, is very VERY proactive in soliciting participation for their various charity fundraisers. I usually decline because I support services closer to home. I don't feel at all guilty for it. However, if it were something that seemed to matter that much to the powers that be, I'd be more inclined to suck it up and participate for the sake of being a team player. In your case since I'm all for strengthing women, and you know there are probably children attached to a lot of them, I think I could swallow it a little easier knowing that maybe one of them would have a better day because I contributed. Sometimes it's beneficial to count our own blessings, then decide if we have anything to give. I love Vines theory, and I agree...if you're out of spoons, well then... maybe next time. I also agree that talking to your hr dept could help you decide

Thank goodness it all ended ok. I bet your neighbor chuckled all the way home after being flashed! The weight loss was the least god could do after raining on you like that! Thanks for the smile
