My heart goes out to you Penni. Thank God you found Dr. Billy, he sure seems to be an angel for bandsters. I'm so glad he's taking care of you. I wish you the best through this, and afterward.
-
My information states that you need a fill when you haven't lost any weight in 4-6 weeks.

Michelle, I'm so glad you made it through, and are on the recovery track! I send big warm hugs and well wishes to you, and hope your scar band works as good as the original so you maintain with no need to have another placed!

With the recent onset of bandsters discovering erosion, I'm both worried and curious to know which bands we've been losing. Are they a combination of types or any particular type? When I researched pre-banding, I chose mine because it seemed at the time to have less problems with slippage and because it's totally soft and pliable, less erosion issues. I'm wondering if the test of time will uphold this information. I'd like to see if the stats show a problem with the surgeon/surgery i.e. having it done in Mexico, or the type of band itself, regardless of who placed it.

Hats off to you for standing tall. Taking only one small step at a time will get a person to freedom; you took a huge leap. Congratulations for that. Many hugs to you and your little one as you go through this. I send you wishes for continued strength.

You can use regular flax seed oil, the pills are just convenient for some. I know of folks make salad dressing or other food flavoring out of it by mixing it with lemon juice, garlic etc... Hair loss at 2-4 months is a common side effect of anesthesia. It should stop in a short time, lasting only a few weeks. The hair generally grows back.

HouseCrazy, no, not slippage. I'm looking for facts regarding erosion. We've had a small group of bandsters diagnosed with it recently and I'm attempting to research which bands/surgeons/locations are at higher risk, if any. I'd like to see if there are any trends leading in a particular direction. Parvathi is correct in saying that we need to look at facts and reports, so I'm attempting to gather them here if possible.

Do we know of any swedish or midband erosions?

I'm so sad for you girls, I hope each and every one of you do exceptionally well, and know that you are all on the minds and in the hearts of all of us here! Add my white light and warm hugs to the list!

Are you refering to Dr. jaime Ponce de leon? He's with Obesity Goodbye in Tijuana. He was my surgeon, and I've had excellent results so far. Good Luck! http://www.obesitygoodbye.com

We allow it at my hospital.

What a nightmare, I'm so sorry Michelle that you have to endure this. Maybe it's a blessing in disguise? How many times in life have we had something awful feeling happen, only to find that it was a good thing in the end? I wish you happy healing, and continued good health with everything. Here's hoping you wake up with continued restriction, and a ghost band. Good Luck and (huggggs)

LOL! I think I'm related to that poor girl's mother... I'm always pulling tricks on my best friend, and my daughters... My first thought was 'who could I get with that one' Love it!

Dr Phil's wife did a show on homeopathic treatment for menopause, and lists what she swears works for her. I'm going to post the link to his site. It is broken down by symptom and what she uses. I can't vouch for the validity of any of it. I'm not menopausal yet, but you can bet I'll be trying it out when I am. No hormone replacement drugs for me! Good Luck. http://drphil.com/articles/article/214/

Got my Glamor Shots done See the new me :)

You look so gorgeous, and have you noticed how much younger? Great job on the #103 loss! -
Geez kiddo, Your life has been one major adjustment after another this year. In light of all that you've been through, it's no surprise that your band has been on a back burner. You have to admit that you've lost a pretty significant amount of weight so far regardless of your gains. Since many of us have gained some as we go; no kicks in the ass for that. Besides, as Vines says, without the band you know it would have been much worse. Here you are today, knowing you need support, and your band needs an adjustment, and knowing it's time to get it. So... you've opened up to the support, now make the appointment, you'll feel so much more accomplished. You've already started the ball rolling, now keep up the momentum, even if it's just one thing at a time. Welcome back Jonathan, we've missed you, & like the band, we'll always be here.

I won't be successful if I have a sweet tooth?
PamRN replied to lildarlin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have a mouthful of sweet teeth, no nutritionist, no counselors, and no will power. Thanks to the band, I'm succeeding anyway. Will power can't outwit restriction, so though I can still have some sweets, there are many I just can't eat. That's pretty helpful over all. Those that I can still eat, I just try to avoid when I can, and enjoy when I can't, because eventually the band stops me, even on the stuff that goes right down. I'm down 91 pounds... even if I never lose another, I'm in wayyyy better shape than I was prebanding. -
I'm glad to hear you were able to get converted to normal rhythm before permanent damage was done. We women are most notorious for waiting to seek help, 'hoping it will go away', but you let something like this happen to one of hour loved ones, and we have them in the ER so fast! I hope it stays normal from here on in, now that you know to keep your electrolytes in check. Keeping tabs on those are so very important! Ivan your avatar looks like a 2 headed man, I had to do a double take! lol

I think my girlfriend dates his brother! JK... he's a pretty creepy looking thing isn't he? bleh!
-
I'm sort of opposite there... cold drinks like iced/shakes loosen my band. Warm drinks don't seem to do much but sit on it, keeping it warm til it hatches open on it's own. Just another example of how different and individual we human creatures are...

For Us Who Have Problems Starting Excercising

Thanks, I need something like that to get me moving again! -
Your cats must be related to my mom's cat... she has one that is actually afraid, and runs from the mice! Living in the country, there are always one or two around!

You absolutely must let your surgeon know that this other doc treated you so poorly. He needs to be aware that behavior happens as it reflects poorly on his office. You can at least let him know that do not want that doc involved with you or your case if he can't behave in a respectful/nonjudgemental manner. He was so concerned with insulting you and placing blame, he missed the significance of your symptoms... the dark urine should have immediately suggested a bladder infection... what a dope!

God bless you guys Kare, I hope everything works out for the best! Yes thank god it didn't happen while he was in a plane over the ocean hours from anywhere. He definitely has a guardian angel watching out for him. You're all in my prayers. Let us know how you all are, We're here for you!

Happiest twentythirteenth birthday to you!
