    Protein bars?

Oregondaisy....I had to laugh at your post, atleast now I know I'm not the only one that sugar alcohol does that too.
  2. I am at my largest weight ever and my lungs are slowly giving out on me. I can do a low carb diet and lose 50 to 60 lbs, but then I put it right back on and add more on top of that. So, I decided to go to a seminar and I have chosen the sleeve. My insurance told me the only requirements I had to meet for obesity surgery was to be over 21 and have a bmi over 40 and I wouldn't have to have any other symptoms to have surgery. Now, I'm waiting on them, the doctor has sent a predetermination. Can you guys give me a little feed back on ur results and would you do it again? Any side effects? Any helpful links you might know? I am so glad I found this site, I think it will be lots of help!
  3. My hair is really, really thin also. I have also heard that the anesthesia can cause you to lose it. As long as my weight is coming off, I will just put a rag over my hair if I have to. It's not easy being beautiful, but I'm sure gonna give it a try, even if I have to wear a rag on my bald head!!!
  4. This is what I have found on two different sites.... Disadvantages of Gastric Sleeve Weight Loss Surgery As it is a purely restrictive weight loss procedure, inadequate weight loss or weight regain is more likely than with a procedure involving intestinal bypass With time, new smaller stomach pouch may stretch (also occurs with gastric bypass surgery) Although the gastric sleeve helps control hunger and limit amount of food that can be eaten at any one time, weight loss will not occur without a healthy, low-calorie diet and regular exercise (same as with other purely restrictive procedures such as LAP-BAND and REALIZE Band) If performed as the first part of a two-stage process, a second malabsorptive weight loss surgery such as the duodenal switch will need to be performed at a later time The surgery is not reversible as a portion of the stomach is permanently removed Leaks or bleeding may occur along the stomach stapling edge Procedure may not be covered by some insurance companies All surgery and anesthesia involves some level of risk including bleeding, blood clots, infection, pneumonia, or complications Lack of published data for long-term weight loss results I don't recall anyone saying that this is a two part process!!! feedback PLEASE!!!!!

What did I do to myself?

I have heard that some people get depressed for a while afterwards, mainly because of the adjustment to their eating habits. Keep your chin up and think about how much better you're gonna feel about yourself and you can do this.

    Approved!

Congratulations!!! I use to have Aetna and had tried to go through them for the lap band and it has several hurdles you had to jump to get approved. Can't wait to hear your results....I am currently waiting on my insurance United Health to make a decision. I was told "no problem" just have the doc send us a predetermination, but I will get excited when i get the go ahead from them.
  8. :thumbup:Those were some good answers.
  9. Only you know the decision you need to make.....but don't let nasty rumors destroy what you're working for, you tell folks when you're ready to tell them. My friends and clients think it's awesome that I'm doing this and can't wait to see the new me so I think your viewers will be pleased also and you may encourage some of them to seek help. It just shows that you're human like the rest of us. I applaud you for joining this site.

  10. I work in advertising and have a lot of clients, and I know that they will be wanting to know where my weight is going when it really starts to show. It's natural to question a considerable amount of weight loss. I would do the surgery and after a month or so, you should see how it's going and do a blog about it somewhere and keep records of your weight loss, then when you're ready, tell people. You may encourage thousands of people to get off their butts and do it too. Plus you don't want the rumors to fly about what's going on, you know "did you hear so and so is dying from some rare disease, or hey did you hear so and so went to Europe and had some experimental surgery that they've only performed on monkeys?" You know how rumors fly when your in the eyes of the media....you need to be sure you have control over those rumors for the well being of you and your family. Keep us posted on your decision.

    4 Months Post Op

Wow, awesome job... I cant' wait to post those same things. I'm currently waiting on my insurance to approve my sleeve, but they had told me there would be no problem. I am loving this site and loving all the positive stuff people are filling it with. Keep up the good work!
  12. You look amazing! I can't wait to read all your posts when time allows. I'm also glad to see that you're out living life....that is exactly what I plan on doing when I get this weight off and can breathe easier. I'm currently waiting to hear from my insurance about the surgery and hopefully they will allow it as they told me they would when I called them and I will start transforming from this caterpillar to a butterfly. You've got your wings already!

    Nervous about Mexico Surgery!!

What is a good link for the surgery in Mexico. I am currently waiting on my insurance to make the decision on having my surgery. They told me that if my BMI was over 40 - no questions asked, they would cover it 90%, but, you all know when it comes down to it, they can all back out. How much does it cost to have it done in Mexico verses the U.S.
