Gastric Plication Weight Loss Surgery to gastric sleeve weight loss surgery revision
4mygirls replied to Sarah Elsekhawy's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I guess after doing your research you decided what you feel most comfortable with.It is all individual preferences. Deciding to have a gastric surgery is a big decision. I am proud of you, When doing weight loss surgery no one knows when or if they will reach their goal weight loss. It will be all up to us to get to our goal after the doctors have done their part. When you see Dr. Corvala tell them Lynette says hi. Don't know if they will remember me. I wish you good luck and God's speed. You will be so happy with the brand new you. -
Gastric Plication Weight Loss Surgery to gastric sleeve weight loss surgery revision

I had my plication done by Dr. Corvala. The surgery was done well according to my revision doctor. The problem with the plication is that they do not remove the grehlin (the part that creates hormones that tells your brain to eat.) Before, I did my revision, I did some research and I found out that more and more doctors are against the plication. Simply because they are worried about the stitches becoming undone and shredding the stomach. Because I was worried about the long term results, I decided to do my revision. I ended paying double for weight loss surgery. Luckily for me, even though there was alot of scar tissues ( the doctors took 3hours to do my revision) I was able to get the sleeve. With the plication I started at 232lbs, got to 185 and then gained back 17lbs. I was noticing my portions were increasing and I wanted to eat more frequent. I spoke to a lady who had the plication and the threads unraveled in her stomach, luckily for her it didn't do any damage, but she had zero restrictions, she now has the gastric sleeve. Having the sleeve was like a walk in the park in comparsion the plication. My recovery with the plication was terrible, whereas, with the sleeve I was up and about in a couple of days. If I had to do it all over again, I would choose the sleeve. -

I am doing well now, excepting for this major stall that I am experiencing. Haven't move from the 15 lbs weight loss. I haven't lost anything for the past 3 weeks. It is a bit fustrating. I haven't done any exercise though. Been too busy of late. March 6th will make 2 months since my revision. I am hoping my weight loss will pick up soon enough. -

Thanks Becca. I am doing great. It is now 3 weeks and I am on the mushy food stage. I don't get the major hunger pangs that I use to get with the plication. When I used to tell my doctor, they would say that it is probaby gas and not hunger. Won't I know gas from hunger? I have lost 15lbs so far. I have stalled this week and haven't lost any weight. Looking forward to continous weight loss. -

After saying a prayer I made the decision to continue on with my revision since my deposit was made, my flight booked and my mind made up. I headed out one day early before the surgery on January 5th to Juarez Mexico at the Star Medica Hospital to have my revision from Plication to Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy. I went alone by the way, crazy thing to do. On my first day I almost wanted to cancel everything because I became scared and depressed. I took my magicjack with me and talk to my family to keep me strong. Now I am so happy I had my surgery. The doctors and staff were amazing. When I woke up from surgery I wasn't even throwing up or feeling horrible pain. There was some pain from the incision and some dizziness, but it was managable. The Plication was a completely different recovery. I vomitted and was so ill after awaken from surgery. I was horribly sick for 2 weeks and was not able to stand on my feet for long. That time my flight back home was like a nightmare in my memory. With the VSG my travel back home last night was okay. I got wheelchair service and the 6hours flight was somewhat tiring but okay. It is now 4days after my surgery and I am so excited to start my second weight loss journey: thanks to Belite weight and Dr. Jose Rodriguez. Not forgetting to thank my weightloss friends for their words of advice and encouragement. God Bless Us All. -
I had the Plication done in September 2010. So far I have lost only 30lbs, I am going on January 6th to try to revise the plication to VSG. This is being done by Dr. Jose Rodrigues. I will go in 1 day early to get some test done in order to measure my stomach to see if the VSG can be done. Has anyone heard of the plication being revised to VSG. I am feeling a bit nervous as the date is getting closer. I look forward to your comments,

After reading the other person's post I was really scared. Then I thought who pays $10,000 for a VSG. Is this really true? Anyhow, after saying a prayer I made the decision to continue on with my revision since my deposit was made, my flight booked and my mind made up. Hi, just saw your post. I am going in on Jan 5th, 12 to have a revision from plication to sleeve, to be done by Jose Rodriguez. Did you already have yours done and how was it? Are u losing weight now. I am feeling really scared too. Mine was done 14months ago. I am really worried that my stomach tissue has stuck together from the stutures, making it difficult to give a neat VSG. Please let me know how yours went. I know there is a possibility that you might not read this in time before my surgery. -

Super Sleeve (Gastric Plication)

Hi, Are you doing your surgery with Dr. Corvala at Angeles Hospital. If you are don't be nervous. They are very nice and will take good care of you. If you could, try to take some OXO soup mix (the powder type)with you. If you are flying it will do you good to ask the air hostess for some hot water, add the mix in and drink, oh it will help so much with the gas. Try to pack light because you don't want to do any heavy lifting, ask for help. After surgery they wanted to keep me longer because i was so weak and out of it, however i would have lost my money for my flight back, so i mustered up some strength and told them i wanted to go home. I was never interested in VSG because of the partial removal of the stomach. That sounded scary to me and i did not do enough research on that type of surgery. God's speed. Will keep in contact. -
Super Sleeve (Gastric Plication)

Hi Joanie, I feel so relief to hear someone else experienced this trouble and that you are fine now. Thanks for taking the time to let me know this. I had the same feeling of regret, with some sleepless nights. Your words will help me sleep alot better tonight. I will try belching as big as I can. I just did and it felt much better than burping. I hate all this gas. I am glad you're off your BP meds, i have been off my diabetic pills from since the day of surgery, my sugar levels have dropped to normal. So if this surgery can help my diabetes where nothing else was, I am all for GPS. -

Hi, sorry i didn't post anything earlier. It is 4 weeks now.The surgery went very well in TJ. I was very weak after surgery for 2 weeks. I would suggest that you have at least 20g of protein everyday after surgery. You can get it in the powder form. I have lost 15lbs to date. I think i have hit a stall for the past week and half. I can see i am losing inches though. I still have alot of gas and i am taking nexium for it, hopefully it goes away soon. I find myself feeling hungry after every 2 hours. The doctors said i am mistaking gas for hunger, I think I would know the difference. I get my fluids in when i feel hungry. I have lots of water and hot green tea. The hot liquids help soothe the stomach and help with the gas. I am eating solids now and i eat everything possible. Remember to chew slowly. When you are hungry you want to eat faster and you can end up overeating. It takes a few minutes for the food to hit the bottom of my stomach if i overeat I end up feeling uncomfortable in the chest area for a little while, not too long. So once you know how much you can eat you will be fine, you wouldn't make the mistake to overeat again. My only problem is the gas and feeling hunger too soon. Is there anyone out there with this problem. Please share with me. -
