At 3 1/2 weeks post surgery, I had a vacation planned to Napa and the wine country. My doctor said it was fine..just don't expect to lose any weight while you are there! I didn't but I did enjoy tasting a lot of great wines! I certainly didn't drink as much as I would have pre-surgery and I did dump a lot of good wine but I did not feel deprived. I'm eight weeks out now and drink rarely but I really have not noticed a difference in my tolerance at all. Hope this helps!

I lost 20 pounds in the first 2 weeks after surgery. Now I'm at week 6 and have only lost 1 pound in the last month. I've read all the posts about stalls but I'm sooo frustrated. I am tracking my calories and the most I have eaten is around 800 calories. I am more active than before surgery so I would have thought that would help. I have failed so many times at diets and I'm already tired of my friends asking me how much I've lost and having to tell them "still stuck". I feel like I went through this whole thing to lose 20 pounds. What am I doing wrong??

I increased my calories a bit and it has seemed to help. I'm hoping this stall is over...I've lost 2 more pounds!! Woo hooo!

What is your "absolutely not" food?
Prila replied to TankGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had popcorn and had absolutely no problem. I didn't eat very much but it sure did taste good! -
Thanks for the words of encouragement....yesterday was a bad day. I was feeling really down. You all are the best!

Thanks for these posts! I have been stuck for almost 3 weeks! I lost 20 lbs. almost immediately and have actually gained 2 lbs back!!!! I am eating between 500-700 calories a day and have been active. It is so frustrating...everyone keeps asking me, "so how much have you lost now?" and I keep telling them the same 20 lbs. Grrrrrrr...

My nut suggested this unflavored protein powder. I can buy it online but would like to have it to take out of town with me. Does anyone know where you can get this? She said Walgreen's but I've been to several and can't find it and their website says its not available in the stores..only online.

Myfitnesspal.com allows you to change your "goals". I have mine set at 800 calories and 60 grams of protein. You can set yours to whatever your doctor recommends.

2 weeks out, what are you eating?
Prila replied to fletcher97701's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 8/31 and I am eating just about anything..with the exception of raw veggies and things like steak. Tonight I had some roast chicken and it was yummy. -
I'm a little over two weeks out and feeling more normal every day. The first few weeks were tough but I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel!
-
I'm the same as Lori...only an IV. No catheter or drain tube. I felt very lucky!

I had to pay the rest of my out of pocket but the hospital let me set up a payment plan. They were very nice about it. I also had to pay $360 to my doctor which was my 20%, I think.

Help! 2 Weeks out and not doing well.
Prila replied to ncbludvl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm sorry Rhonda. i'll keep you in my prayers too. I'm two weeks out today and while I haven't had the problems you have, I'm feel like I'm not doing well either. I'm having a hard time getting in protein too. I go between acid refllux and nausea. Hang in there! We'll get through this together. -
2wks Post-Op, Losing too quickly?
Prila replied to thegeek's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I will be two weeks tomorrow and I, too have lost 20 lbs. already. I was wondering the same thing..thanks for asking! -
I am on several meds for migraines that I take twice a day to prevent them. I can tell physically when i miss my meds...i just feel weird. I had surgery one week ago and i constantly feel like i have missed my meds even though I have not missed one dose. I hope that I'm making sense. :thumbup1: Does being sleeved cause me to not absorb my medication like i used to?

officially sleeved on August 31st.
Prila replied to Beauitful Day in Hawaii's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery on the 31st also! I'm down 15 pounds today, post surgery. I just can't seem to force more food in. Nothing tastes good...the gas....the nausea...the gas...did i mention the gas? -
I don't know what to drink/eat during liquid diet stage!! HELP!
Prila replied to Dede0733's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
are you on clear liquids only? I was allowed to have any kind of broth, juice, or protein shake. -
Congrats! I will be one week tomorrow!

The pomegranite is soooo good...but don't buy it until you can have chunky stuff! It has real pomegranite seeds in it and is yummy. I get them at Target... 5 for $5
-
I live in Katy and was sleeved on 8/31! I used Dr. Felix Spiegel and feel great. I'm on my way to Target to get rid of some gas..LOL. It's hard to get all the protein in but my friends say that it gets easier every day and before you know it you are eating real food again and still losing weight. I'm so happy to be starting this new chapter in my life!

Gas. Gas Gas Gas. Epigastric discomfort... and Gas.
Prila replied to pcindy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was just going to post something about this and you beat me to it. I'm 4 days out and every time I drink a protein shake, I get very gassy. Nothing else seems to do it but man those protein shakes are killing me. The gas-x sorta helps but not completely...any other suggestions? -
I had my surgery 8/31..so I'm on day 4. I'm tired and sore but actually feel better than I thought I would. Let the journey begin!

My surgery is at 8:30 in the morning and I am getting more nervous by the minute. I've had surgery before and never been this nervous. Maybe it's the lifestyle change, or the fact that it's "elective" surgery, but my stomach is in knots!
