I'm not changing my steristrips. I thought tthose were important to keep our incisions closed! All I have to change is the padding over the jp drain. I think you should just give a call to your nurse or something and check in. Plus if you're weak and feeling awful, how can you think straight? Try some Protein. It helped me a lot. I found the proasis protein shots at riteaid and most drugstores have them, even if they're nasty. it helped with the weakness feling and stuff. Feel better!!! (((Hugs))))

Hi Becca. I think we moms of little ones have an extra challenge. I feel very lucky that my kiddos are 7 and 4 now and pretty independent, plus my husband has been SO helpful with them. When they are were so little, I didn't think anyone could take care of them better than me and insisted on doing things. I really think we are smart to put ourselves first (for once.) Rest, let the kids go to grandma's. As long as they are fed and clean and healthy. Hell, even clean.. who cares? They are safe, that's what matters. Just a week or two to really put yourself first and don't go overboard. Then the payoff will come after. They will be better off for it, because we will be healthy and happy! We'll have to find a little band to sleeve moms threads to keep in touch! Good luck!

Help! I need FIBER!
Jordien replied to sleeve 4 me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
this doesn't count as a clear liquid, does it? -
and you sure titled it right. That was a last-minute-freakout if I ever saw one. lol....

Carrie I am so happy to read your post. Did you see what you wrote? The worst is not getting down on the floor and playing with them??? Good for you!!! Of course you will play with them again, and they will be fine. I'm just so glad you're not in worse pain and a worse state, given your first post. I said to my girlfriend earlier who asked me did is hurt as much as you thought it would. I said.. I don't think that it hurts more or less. I think we FORGET that pain and those first few days. I've had two babies (one with no epidural working) an appendectomy, a lapband.. I mean heavy stuff, and no one can really take away those first two days of pain in the hospital. Ugh!! But we get through. And here we are, recovering. Good for you! I'm so proud of you!
-
Thanks you guys for thinking of me. Well, it was hell for a few days, I won't lie. But wow can't get over how much better I feel with every passing day. Getting out of that hospital was really important. I had general anxiety just being there. Every time someone came in for SOMETHING.. I was just like ugh.. please, enough. Recovering though. Enjoying my chicken broth and jello, trying to find new variety of things to have, and there isn't much. My husband found crystal light popsicles at walmart. I ordered some unjury chicken soup broth, which I've had before.. not amazing tasting, but gets chicken soup in you along with 20g protein. I think keeping protein up is important. Anyway, I have to continue on with what I'm doing and see my surgeon on Wednesday. He will snip the stitch and take this drain out. (can't wait for that) and hopefully after that I will really start to feel back to normal. I am working on my grocery list for stage two, which doesn't start until October 3rd, yikes! I'd better chill out and be paitent. HOw's everyone doing? My doc gave my husband pictures from the surgery, saw the band, the stomach part removed, really fascinating. I just looked at them today. Can't believe that band is gone!
-
I can't believe it's finally happening. TOMORROW is the day! I get rid of this damn band and get my sleeve. I'm having my last few sips of water as midnight approaches. I'm starting to get very nervous about the IV, the pain after surgery, hoping I'll be successful. It's been such a long struggle with this lapband. Ugh! I am confident though and feeling positive and ready to start my new life! Ahhhh!!!!

How long was your revision?
Jordien replied to ssg_1976's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Mine was 2 hours. I was surprised at that. -
Maria... I was just thinking how crazy it is that I feel like cleaning counters, bathrooms, straightening things, organizing.. and I'm only having 1/2 cup of broth here, a jello or two there, a protein drink. I am totally mentally energized. Not sure where that comes from. My husband asked me to please stop talking last night. lol!

TOMORROW IS THE DAY a lil nervous
Jordien replied to selvester420's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations on it being done! These days seem rough, I was two days before you. I think if we get through this first week, that's saying something! Better and better each day! -
I heard the same thing about coconut, which is fine with me, because I detest the stuff! ha! Still healing here, so I'll just learn from y'all and post back when I experience for myself.

I'm craving roasted vegetables
Jordien replied to BlackBerryJuice's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My inlaws and husband ordered in a great looking dinner from an italian place last night. Funny, the thing I wanted the most was the antipasto salad stuff... mozzerella cheese and roasted peppers, etc. The veal/chicken parm and the Pasta I didn't care much about giving that a second look. I HOPE for some real significant changes. OMG I had a nightmare (i'm calling it that) dream last night that I was eating donuts... one after anohter, just stuffing donuts into my mouth. LOL! I woke up feeling guilty, embarrassed, laughing at myself. How crazy! misdiva.. what kind of soups are you buying. I want to get some of the cream soups, but I don't want too much fat/salt. Is there a healthy request or a few versions you swear by? IWould love to sample a few good ones. This is for phase 2, right? -
Help! I need FIBER!
Jordien replied to sleeve 4 me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
lol... kinda like talking about our babies. once you're a mom and have done this sort of stuff, nothing seems like TMI! lol... I hope things get moving for everyone. I give that oatmeal to my little guy who's 4, just realized it. I always buy the high fiber. Figure it can't hurt. Tastes the same. -
I agreee, just keep trying things and be creative. Hey check the thread further up, I posted about these 2.5oz shots I got that have 28g of Protein. THey're made by Hormel and not TOO terrible. mp I started out thinking about just hydrating, but I had so little energy, I decided to add in protein. It def. gave me a pep in my step (not literally.. lol) and I needed it. TMI but after anesthesia, I have trouble peeing. It's happened every time I have aneths. So of course it happened again. I'd be all night long having to pee, but couldn't go. Add to my hospital experience being straight-cathed twice, JUST so I could pee... omg... so I was super paranoid about peeing. Making sure I'm getting enough liquid to keep going to the potty!!! I think if there was something to be paranoid about, I'd find it!!! I really need to take a chill pill soon! lol.... I am going to get on the scale tomorrow I think. I haven't been on it yet. Kinda crazy with fluids, surgery, a drain still hanging on me, bandages, but I'm curious.

Help! I need FIBER!
Jordien replied to sleeve 4 me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was going to suggest chewables as well. I have gummy fiber supplements I was using before surgery. I don't think I can have gummies right now in this stage, but maybe a supplement will help? ANd water and moving I guess is right. Ooooh.. I didn't think of this. I'm going to go have some extra water right now. -
I thought it was no ibuprofen? Is that the same as nsaid? I'm not sure. Honestly for a headache or a muscle ache, motrin is what works for me. So not sure. Right now I'm on this dillaudid, and it's great. I wonder if we could get that for every day pain. Plus the pill is tiny and it's only 3-hour. I think it's a narcotic though. Hmmm.... good question. Tylenol never does anything for any pain I have. You are month out of surgery? How are you feeling? Do you sleep normally? Any pains around your incisions? I'm anxious to get over the hump of this early time!
-
cherice, your surgery date is two days behind me, and honestly.. two days ago, I could barely eat or drink anything. Just rest when you can. Are your pain pills tiny? Mine are very little, so I put it far back and just get a good dip of liquid in. Thank God they're tiny though. Maybe you could ask for something else if you think it would help. I think you will see a difference in tomorrow and the next day. I did. I was worried about dehydration too, but I just sipped slowly what I could and gradually added more as I could. Good luck. (((hugs)))) To everyone! My inlaws are here visiting, and I'm in my nightgown, boobs flopping around and everything, and I just don't care. I have a different perspective right now. lol! Thank you all so much for talking to me these few days!!! You are helping get me through!!

Talking about bariatric surgery in class
Jordien replied to BlackBerryJuice's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
yep.. the uneducated and insensitive ones. I agree with all of the posters. -
I think that's a good idea. The first few days I didn't want anything. But now I'm doing better getting some calories in and Protein. I am just trying to continually sip throughout the day. That chocolate smoothie sounds great. Wow... What kind of frozen yogurt? Chocolate? Any special brand? What brand did you use? And what whey protein has 52grams a scoop? Mine (unjury) is 40 g per scoop and I thought that was good! I am def. going to make that when I get to my 2nd stage. I can't have milk yet. Just clears. Wow a chocolate marshmallow smoothie sounds good about now. Guess I'll go have a lime Jello in the meantime. haha...

definitely agree about the anxiety thing. yeah it's just a weird feeling. has gotten better, thank goodness, but still. I think I reacted weird to the anti-nausea meds too. When she would give them to me, I felt really weird afterwards. I refused them on my last day, when I knew I was going home. In fact.. I refused the damn blood sugar stick in the finger, the nausea meds, the pecid and the breathing treatment! lol.. I had had it. I'm amazed at you girls who came home the next day. Though I also had a lapband removed. Maybe that has something to do with it? Not sure. I am also only on clear liquids for two weeks: broth, diluted juice, jello, popsicle, water, crystal light, stuff like that. I haen't tried jello yet, but I am also starting to 'feel' hungry, so I may move up to jello. Wow, what a big step! lol! My left side is also really bruised, really dark dark purple, eeek. And that incision hurts. The right side is the drain, with the bandage over it still. That hurts a bit too. I am still doing the lovenex injections in my lower fat roll (blood thinner) every day. So that is all little bruises. Ahh the joy. I know there will come a time when I look back and say "that was ALL worth it." I'm not quite there yet though. Better and better each day. Heather good for you on the sleep.. I read that and was like yeah! I would love to sleep like that. One of these nights it'll happen. I'm always achy when I wake up though. I find that I am very rambly. Like on and on. I'm glad this thread is here. hahahaha..... Take care everyone. Don't overdo it. Take it easy. SIpping only.. don't gulp.

Hi all, Home from hospital and have that restless feeling like I don't know what's coming or going?! Did you sleep only on your back in bed? What was the easist way to sleep? Did you sleep on your side at all? A little painful, but maybe easier to sleep. Looking for some ideas for getting comfortable in bed. Thanks!

Mucus at back of nose / throat?
Jordien replied to TwoStepsBack's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
hmmm, yeah okay sounds like a nasal thing then that's separate. Just what we DON'T need. I was just thiinking that the mucinex pills are huge, but they have the little crystals that dissolve on your tongue for kids. That might be a good choice. Funny how I'm thinking of all these things now for myself... small pills and easy to swallow type cures. Hope you feel better. Keep your tissues handy I guess too! -
Mucus at back of nose / throat?
Jordien replied to TwoStepsBack's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a little of this. I was doing the breathing thing in the hospital, the little plastic thing, and my nurse also said every now and then, grab your pillow at the belly and give a cough. SHe said from anesthesia, you can develop pockets of stuff in your lower lungs. I def. have this and have to cough now and then or feel like I have stuff in my throat or nose, like you describe. I was assuming it had to do with this. Of course there's a cold floating around my house too, so I'm hoping it's not that too. Good luck. -
Here's that site. They're still not delicious... I don't know which ones are.. but only 2.5oz. and make sure you get the ones with 24g. Protein. https://www.homecarenutrition.com/HHL/nxcsc.nsf/ListProducts?openagent&ListMenuEntry=6E7F3EE5EE83D2F485257625004FB354&MenuEntry=6E7F3EE5EE83D2F485257625004FB354&SID=0748D8C1782B4FA2852577A8002C1D97
