    Let's count Dr. Aceves Patients!

I had VSG with Dr. Aceves on 8/28/10 and was very pleased with both Dr. Aceves and and Dr. Campos. I did have problems with one male nurse the night of my procedure not being around when I need medicine for vomiting but Drs Aceves and Campos were both very apologetic and talked the hospital administration to not have that nurse back in the area with their patients again. I would highly recommend Dr. Aceves to my friends and family!
  2. Sleevesearch, log_lex and I arrived in Mexicali today. The ride from San Diego seemed really long! The hospital is small, clean and nice. The pre-op process took about 1.5 hours and was efficient. The staff were very nice! Yolanda and Lucy speak English well. We met with the anesthesiologist and Dr. Campos. Dr. Aceves has changed hotels over the last 1-2 weeks. We are staying at the Crowne Plaza Mexicali which is also clean and nice. We ate at the Colorado Grill within the hotel and enjoyed our meals. I thought the rib eye was great! Yolanda gave us an antibiotic ofloxacin 400 mg and ativan 2 mg to take at bedtime. We will be picked up at 7:00. Once at the hospital Dr. Aceves is going to talk to us before surgery. Dr. Aceves and the anesthesiologist will decide in the morning the order of the surgeries. The first surgery starts about 9:30 and each one lasts 1.5-2 hours. Can't sleep even with the ativan....
  3. Thanks Krista for the info on the Protein "shots". I will try to get by Wal-Mart today and get one to try. I agree with the idea that 2.9 oz is much better than 20. I have a GNC in the Wal-Mart parking lot 1.5 miles from my house and so I plan to get some Isopure while it is on sale but use the protein shots and unjury also. It is going to be a challenge to get in 75-80 gms of protein and so I figure the more choices the better. I plan on bringing the Crystal Light packets and the broth packages from inside the Ramen noodles. You are correct that you can't bring bottle Water into the airport but can purchase them once inside security. My plan leaves at 2:10 on the 31st. Sleevesearch and shringrl - what time are your departure flights?
  4. Gracey - I can't believe that we were all able to connect either! It is so crazy! I don't know how many procedures Dr. Aceves has scheduled on 8/27 but his office told me he had 3 VSG on 8/28 and 5 of us from those two days are on this thread. Unbelievable... I am very thankful though because it helps knowing at least a small amount about what we are in store for and who our "teammates" are going to be. Krista - can you tell me the brand of the Protein "shots" you purchased from WalMart? I would like to try one before we go. I had moderate success with IsoPure and haven't tried to unjury yet (order is on its way).
  5. LovinLife - it is great to hear how good you are doing 4 days postop! Congratulations! The bracelet idea is cool. A "journey" memory. I like it.... I hope you continue to feel well and get stronger!
  6. shrinkinggrl...I tried the Frosted Grape today - I finished the bottle :biggrin0: but it is going to take some getting used to! I am going to try the Alpine Punch tomorrow before I buy anymore. I keep telling myself to have a open mind and positive approach. GNC has it on sale thru the end of the month - buy one get one half price.
  7. I am excited! One week - OMG! I look forward to meeting y'all. It is going to be so cool to have special friends to go thru this amazing journey with - all the fun milestones. I was daydreaming today about how it is going to feel to be "skinny". I am going to try to get some shopping done tomorrow to stock up on the Protein drinks, broth, G2, etc for when I get home. I actually ordered some unjury unflavored Protein powder yesterday and tried my first Isopure drink today :thumbup1:.
  8. log_lex, do you have someone traveling with you?
  9. Yes, Nina told me today that I got the last spot on the 28th. I just started on this site today and don't know how to navigate it too well either!
  10. Great narrative of your experience with Dr. Aceves! Thank you for taking the time to share the small details. I booked my flights tonight for sleeve surgery with Dr. Aceves on August 28! I feel like I know what to expect now and that helps to calm my jitters!
  11. I am have the sleeve surgery on August 28th with Dr. Aceves. Anxious, happy, scared.
  12. I arrive in San Diego from Dallas at 10:05am. Wow, can you believe this is next week?!
