Hey, I am also from Alabama and currently a patient of Dr. Dewitt's. He is out of Birmingham, AL! My husband had the Realize Band procedure done 3 months ago by Dr. Dewitt with great success! Not trying to sell you on our doctor, but just noticed you were pretty new to the process like me! I am 27 with 3 kids and a wonderful husband! I have around 200lbs to loose, YIKES, I just admitted that out loud!!!! Anyway, I hope you have great success! How far along in your process are you now? I have all my final appointments scheduled this month and hopefully will be told my surgery date in September! =)

About a year ago, I was interested in the Lab Band! I did tons of research and everything! I went to my first seminar and surprisingly learned about a relatively new procedure, the Vertical Sleeve! :w00t: It was exactly what I wanted! Of course, I have my concerns but all the problems that I had with RNY and the Band are resolved with the sleeve! :thumbup1: Now, I have all of my last final appointments set up!:biggrin0: I go on August 17 for my last seminars (Nutrition and Exercise). Then on August 24 for my EKG.:thumbup: And last but not least on August 30 for my Psych Evaluation.:eek: I am very hopeful that everything will go smoothly!:smile1: Then all that is left is my INSURANCE approval....:scared0:....I have UHC and my husband didn't have any problems and NO wait period! So, I am hoping for everything to go as quickly and smoothly as his went! Hopefully I will get my Surgery date at the beginning of September!!!:001_rolleyes:

Hey, I actually was in the same boat as you! I had a hard time talking to my family b/c I knew how they would react to my decision! I actually took my father to the seminar so that he could learn about it with me! I find that the skepticism comes from lack of knowledge! They need to be as informed as you if you want them to understand your decision! My mother is still negative about me getting sleeved! I have all my final appointments this month and should be getting my date at the beginning of September....so, hopefully I will be sleeved towards the end of September or October! :biggrin0: I love my mother, but this is YOUR choice and YOUR decision for yourself! You must do this for YOU and no one else! There will be people that are negative about your journey but there is a reason that you chose to start down this road.....hold on to your hopes and reasons b/c it will keep you confident in our decision! -
