I started "rewarding" myself right after surgery- I bought a pandora bracelet and reward myself with a new bead with every 10 lbs lost. My bracelet is sporting 8 beads and I will be getting the 9th one in a few days. There are lots of pandora-like brands out there. It's a fun way to reward myself and exciting when I get to show off a new bead earned. Find something that is extra special to celebrate all the hard work

Like others have said- cheese sticks are great. I also would take a slice of deli turkey and a wedge of laughing cow cheese, it would add up to about 80 calories and more protein than just the cheese stick. I tried almonds but those didn't sit right until about 3 months out.

Should you even have a collection of recipes posted here without citing the sources? I applaud your efforts but maybe this collection is better for your own personal use. It is common for people to post links to recipes or recipes where the creator is named, but this is not the case with your "cookbook."

I had the exact same question and recently had this conversation with my surgeon. I ran my first full marathon (pre-op) at Disneyworld and it was the best thing EVER. I have been a runner for several years, even completed a half marathon 2 months prior to surgery. I am currently 3 mths post-op. I waited about 6 weeks post-op to start running again and as long as I eat something within an hour of running I do OK on a short run. My concern was how to keep my body fueled during the longer runs. When I spoke with my doctor he suggested a few natural foods to try (dates, coconut water) but said that things like Gu or Shot Block are not horrible to take during the run. I say go for it- Disney medals are awesome and the feeling of accomplishment afterwards is so worth the hard work. Good Luck to you

Calling Dr. Ramos-Kelly patients
Beverly replied to ATLGirl's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I just read your original post, I am so sorry you are going through this. I am not a patient of Dr Ramos-Kelly but I did experience a few challenges right before my surgery date. I had gone through all the pre-op steps and was waiting for my actually surgery date, the doctor's office called and informed me that because the hospital where I was to have my surgery had not filled out all the necessary paperwork, my surgeon did not have a hospital where he could do my surgery and my insurance would pay for it. I like you was crushed- I had worked so hard for 4 mths to get to this point and now I was going to have to wait another 4-6 months to get paperwork squared away. My first thought was that this was a sign that I was not suppose to have the procedure done in the first place, but then I remembered why I started this process- I wanted to be healthy. At that point I decided that I was not going to let anyone keep my from having the procedure, I took this "bump" as a sign that I needed to work a little harder, make more phone calls, and do this for myself. I had my procedure done on December 21 and although my recovery has been tough I know that my determination and hardwork will all pay off when it's all said and done. Go back and ask yourself why you started this process at all- it may give you the determination you are looking for. Good luck, I hope it all works out the best way possible -
crossposting.. VITAMINS/PROTEIN REGIMINE?
Beverly replied to fullhandsfullheart's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They are both a little shorter than a dime, so neither are very large. The Vitamin D is part of the Bariatric Advantage line. The other one I am taking it to prevent gall stones since I still have my gallbladder. -
crossposting.. VITAMINS/PROTEIN REGIMINE?
Beverly replied to fullhandsfullheart's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am looking for the same information. My surgeon's office also sells Bariatric Advantage, I purchased the starter kit and starting taking them at about 2 weeks out. The chewable multi vitamin is gross and the calcium lozenge is not much better. I have since purchased the calcium fruit chews, those are actually pretty good. I am taking two capsules (vitamin D and Actigall) and have no problem swallowing those. I would love to get some suggestions on some better multi vitamins. -

Pain when sipping......
Beverly replied to Firefly2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I will be 2 weeks post op tomorrow. I have been experiencing a similar pain in my back. only when I eat or drink. I went to see my surgeon today, he did an upper GI and like you there was no leak. However he did notice I am having spasms in the lower part of my stomach. He thinks this might be causing the pain. He prescribed a med that will hopefully help. I hope your pain is getting better, I know this is no fun -
Tomorrow is Sleeve Day!
Beverly replied to LovinLife's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So glad to hear all went well. Hope the recovery is speedy and smooth :001_rolleyes: -
Dear LovinLife I am at the very beginning stages of this journey. I just attended the information session with Dr Davis and am now waiting for my consultation and insurance company decision. I see that your surgery date is quickly approaching, I am sure your nerves are crazy at this point but how exciting that you have made it this far. When did you begin your process? Have you had good experiences with The Davis Clinic so far? Wishing you the best of luck and am anxious to hear more about your surgery, recovery, results and such. :w00t: Beverly
