I got sick today...And I did call my surgeon because I was worried about my fever. He said it's probably because of my throat and that I shouldn't really worry but call him tomorrow anyway to keep him updated.

ladies, anyone having pms cravings?
Qured replied to jamey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Same here...I got my first period after surgery yesterday and the last week was hell and today is hell too and I'm very emotional (I had cravings the week before) and I also got sick too. I hope it doesn't stay like that. -
I don't mind telling people but this guy was definitely rude.

At what Point do you notice weight loss
Qured replied to momoftwo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know, I am a heavyweight, so I'll need to lose quite a bit before it's noticeable...And Donna and Globetrotter are heavyweights too, as far as I can see, so it's probably that. -
hey everyone i have 1 month till my sleeve just have a few questions for after
Qured replied to selvester420's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery was on the 29th of July. It was really early in the morning, the first surgery of the day. It lasted more than everybody expected it to last because I had some bleeding during surgery and a huge stomach that was a bit of a chore to take out. I woke up in pain and the painkiller they gave me actually had an adverse reaction which sucked and I was without a real painkiller for many hours after that. I had to get a catheter (which I had overnight too) because I couldn't possibly get up (although they did make me get up but much later that day, because I really couldn't move) and there were too many fluids for IVs that needed to get out. Because of the bleeding, I had some extra internal sutures that actually really hurt and they hurt even more on the second day. I stayed in hospital for 4 days with a drain (although my surgeon doesn't usually use one), which was taken out before I left (and after the leak test). I stopped taking painkillers when I got home but I was still in pain. I couldn't really sleep in my bed, I couldn't twist etc. For me, things started getting better around day 11. And on day 21 I was able to actually sleep on my sides at last. Tomorrow I'm one month post op and I'm feeling just fine. There's some soreness in the general abdominal area but that's about it. I'm able to drink just fine, I've tolerated whatever I've tried to eat, nothing has come up or anything like that. So, although the first 10 days were very hard for me, it does get better, much better. -

Donna, Globetrotter, I'm right there with you. Sleeved on the 29th July and the last time I weighed myself I was 27lbs down post op (had no pre op diet) and no changes in clothes, no people noticing, no need to tighten my bra...I really think that eventually it's gonna start being noticeable and that I'm gonna start changing clothes but what does it take for that to start happening?? Do I have to lose 60-70 pounds? Cause that's what I'm starting to think... PS. Donna I really like your blog, keep it up! And the mushroom thingy was delicious! -
Lookinupin2010: May I ask how come you have used so many protein shakes? Was it a nut's suggestion or it was easier for you to stomach them?

Ok, the salad you described must be my favorite one! We're gonna get there! We're gonna have our (small) salads eventually. I tried a tiny bit of cucumber yesterday (although I know it's too early for that) and it was so refreshing. About the peanut butter, I should try some, I haven't had any in ages (not that I need the extra carbs). I mostly eat Greek yogurt (which is unsweetened) and some baby yogurt (for a change, because I like it) and I eat cottage cheese (2%) and a couple of local relatively low fat cheeses that are actually nice. I was thinking of trying some mashed potato myself but for some reason it doesn't sound that appealing at the moment. I tried a bit of baked potato the other day, that was nice.

Dear 3 Week Stall.... I am not amused!
Qured replied to a.walker's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you Cheri! For the time being, I'm not too worried. I was expecting that after losing 24 lbs so quickly I would just stall for a few weeks even. But yes, I'll see what I can do about my diet, I try different things as often as possible, just because I want the different tastes, so no day is the same like the next one. -
Depends on the stall. Stalls are actually normal. It's the body's way to protect itself in a way (amongst other things). People exercise more and/or differently, change their diets, up their carbs and calories, then lower them again. There are things one can try, but stalls are inevitable.

You know, there are some people that actually do better on some carbs. I do around 30 carbs and I'm not doing better but nevermind. I'm thinking of trying upping them and then lowering them etc. And I need to start exercising too (something more than walking the dog, which is good, but not enough). -
Oh my globetrotter, there are no carbs in there! I couldn't do that. I need my milk, yogurt etc and I really need salad! I know protein is our priority but I miss salad.

And if it makes you feel even better, I am a heavyweight. -

If it makes you feel any better, I lost 24 lbs up until day 8 (post op - and I had no pre op diet) and since then (it's day 23 today) I haven't lost anything, which means that there have been 15 days without any loss. -
Hey Jane. Yes I've got an open pool around here and I plan to start going there in a week (when I'm 1 month post op). I don't mind the hot weather in general but it's been like 100 degrees (give or take) for the past month! Today it's down to 90 and it feels much better! For me, the ideal weather is between 70-85 degrees with low humidity. Oh well...:cursing:

Lucky for the greek summer? I think NOT! hehe It's been too hot, really, it's frustrating! And I can't tell what my post op energy levels actually are because it's too damn hot.

Imitation crab legs from surimi (is a Japanese loan word referring to a fish-based food product intended to mimic the texture and color of the meat of lobster, crab and other shellfish. It is typically made from white-fleshed fish (such as pollock or hake) that has been pulverized to a paste and attains a rubbery texture when cooked.)

I'm 3 weeks post op and I got like 2 times/week and not much is coming out anyway. I mean, I know I'm not going regularly but I don't feel the constipation discomfort. It's not like I'm full and bloated and can't go (only have this feeling today actually). I'll try adding some fiber and see how that goes...

You do sound very considerate about your friend. It's hard for her and she will have to deal with it. Try opening it up, tell her how you feel, what you think about her behaviour and her situation, how you'd like her support but it's ok not to have it for a while etc, I think it would help. I really wonder how/if the op is gonna change my relationship with my friends. One very very good friend of mine made a joke (that made me laugh at the moment but then was kinda weird...) and she said something like "when u become all thin and pretty and everything, I hope that we won't have to fight about girls" and we both started laughing about it (because we never had the same taste in women anyway and it was never an issue and we always joked about it but still it sounded weird if anyone knows what I mean - it's like she considers me a non-threat). And that's what I think that could change (amongst other things)...Stop being considered a non-threat. And about the stall. I hit mine at 9 days out! I'm 22 days post op and since day 9, I've lost like a pound and then getting it back etc.

That's what I'm afraid of, the old habits...Now, I'm still scared and still feeling a bit weird when eating...But in a while...Oh well! Chew! Chew! Chew!
