4 days post-op temp is 100.4 please set my mind at ease!!!!!!

Thanks for the positive info I didn't think the Supradol worked either, I think all of their pain meds were pretty much crap if I'm being honest LOL. I can't do the liquid Tylenol though, burns too much...I don't need it now anyway, thank goodness. I have been taking the Nexium and upped it to two a day in hopes that it would help. It hasn't seemed to help the hunger pains, I'm still starving. BUT I do get Hypoglycemic and I tend to feel the same way when that happens. My blood glucose has been known to drop to 50 before:ohmy: I get ravenous when that happens, so I'm assuming that's what going on. I seemed to be MUCH better once I was able to do the V8, not as ravenous and the hunger pains seemed to subside a bit, but if I don't continue to sip the V8 the hunger pains, and I mean pain comes on again. I don't know what to do about the hypoglycemia? My question is this, I can do V8 starting on day 6, but not tomato Soup until day 11? The V8 seems thicker than tomato soup to me. I think the post-op diet is a little wonky in terms of what is and is not acceptable and on what days. It should probably be a little more in depth than what it is and I think people would have an easier time. I mean for what we pay for the surgery we should at least get a FULL post op diet plan. Sorry I'm just venting and kind of annoyed that tomato soup isn't ok but V8 is when V8 is obviously thicker....not that I even want to touch tomato soup LOL I have not been getting any Protein AT ALL, and I'm kind of freaked out a bit about it. I CANNOT stomach any drinks, unjury, or Protein shakes with Water, or protein shots. I'm having pretty bad nausea (even with the doubling up Nexium) and there is no way I can get any of it down. WTH am I going to do????? I'm seriously considering liquefying cottage cheese or something, I just don't know what to do UGH. -

I hear you! I'm struggling with being starving. I get a full feeling but not a satisfied feeling. I had some of the Protein shake with Water today and that was OK but I want to puke thinking about it now. I'm barely getting any protein...I just can't stomach it. I'm lucky to be getting enough fluid. All I can think about is food and the hunger psychically hurts. The pains I feel when I take sips is almost like a sharp hunger pain, like my body is saying no more liquid, PLEASE put food in me. I hope it doesn't last because it really does hurt. Like one of the previous posters said I could be taking sips that are too big:confused: I've still been fantasizing about that appetizer we had that was SO good. I'm so hungry, I just wish I could eat and the smell of food is KILLING me...I'm having total buyers remorse lol -

Thanks so much everyone, for you help. I did call and Dr. Campos got back to me, he didn't seem concerned at all. He told me to take some liquid Tylenol and do extra breathing exercises. I took the liquid tylenol and ouch! That hurt the belly a bit:frown1: It seems like everytime I take a sip of anything I get a sharp pain...I hope it's normal. I have an awful headache and I'm hoping it goes away because I feel so awful. And I'm SO STARVING. Everytime I smell any kind of food I get awful pains in my stomach, almost enough to make me double over. I have to do my best to avoid thinking, seeing and smelling any kind of food:crying:. I can't wait to start Jello tomorrow....ugh. Thanks again for all your help...I'm going to try to get some good sleep. -

I'm here in Mexicali and did my pre-op testing today! My flight was horrible and LONGGGGG and the drive from San Diego to Mexicali was very long too. Our driver Freddy was awesome though and we had fun chatting with him on the ride! I'm not going to sugar coat it: I have to be honest that the hospital didn't really set me at ease when we first arrived. I was thinking American standards and it's just not. It's hard to explain, oh, and the fact that there were 3 or 4 security guards walking around in the hospital strapped with assault riffles was quite a shock:scared0: I still can't get over that one, WOW. I asked about it and the nurse was like "oh that, that's just normal security":lol0: WTH? I'm talking guns half the size of the men carrying them, no exaggeration. I met with the Anesthesiologist and quickly met with Dr. Campos. The Anesthesiologist quickly set my mind at ease; very confident and knows his stuff, and he's a cutie for an added plus :thumbup1: The staff was very helpful and willing to answer any questions we had. We did have to wait a very, very long time and I was SO hungry so it was like torture. I was sent on my way with a sleeping pill and an antibiotic and told to enjoy a nice dinner. The hotel exceeds my expectations, beautiful. The restaurant down stairs was amazing and the service was fit for a queen. Excellent food, excellent service, very affordable. Ok well my sleeping pill just kicked in and whoa. Wish me luck! I'll update after my surgery tomorrow. -

The staff and people are very helpful. What I meant was the hospital itself, just not an american hospital and it was a little unsettling at first. The guards were outside the hospital and walking around inside!! I was quite crazy. When we arrived today they weren't there.... we are meeting with the DOC now AHHHHH! -

I found some of the protein shots at walmart today, I wish they were the 45gm ones but they are the 23...but that's OK. I didn't try them yet and probably won't until after surgery. Thanks for the tip on where to order them! I did buy some of the flavored Protein powder that Nina mentioned in the email to me. so between the box of protein shots I bought today, the unjury, and the flavored protein powder I should be good for a little while. I bought the bullion Soup powder packets that you just add to hot Water for the plane ride, I hope they are good. Lina Welcome! I hope we get to see you! Like Krista said just ask Dr. A if you can go to the surgical wing:thumbup1: Funny story today: I went to get my hair cut today and when I was paying I was telling the hair dresser about my liquid diet after my surgery (didn't say what kind of surgery) and she looked around the counter and said, with a questioning look "my dad had to do that when he had gastric bypass surgery; you are NOT big enough for that, so why do you need a liquid diet?" I just smiled and said I was having a hiatal hernia removed. I'm lucky to carry my weight very well, and granted I'm only a 32 BMI but I have just about every comorbity there is. Sheesh talk about making me second guess:blink: Krista, I hope neither of our return flights are going to be delayed because of that tropical storm Danielle...I'm using all my mental power to push it away LOL:lol0: It's all most here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -

Oh yeah I wanted to ask, what is everyone bring to drink for the fligh home? My return is like 6 or 7 hours and I'll need to be drinking then. Can we bring drinks on the plane? Or do we have to have bottled Water supplied by the planes? I remember something about not being able to bring full baby bottles on the planes so now I'm curious? -

Where should I buy my chewable vitamins? What brand?
Alish replied to Alish's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Thanks! That's what I was looking for, a brand. I'll check for the B12 at walmart today and probably go with the GNC chewable's if my Dr. gives the OK for them. Also, why the b12? Are we more likely to become deficient in it? -

Hi, I'd like some info on where I can buy chewable viamins? Can we take chewables during the liquid phase? I believe I'm not supposed to take them until week 3, but when I do what kind of chewables do I need? Thanks!! -

I just went over my email again and it says this: "A good source of Protein products after the clear liquid phase (you can use these with Water instead of milk starting day #5, and with milk starting day #11) can be purchased reasonably at:" So we can have Protein shakes with water at 5 days out? I'm so confused about the post-op diet:confused: LOL -

OK so I went and got the Isopure Alpine punch last night...OH MY GAWD (insert New England accent)!! Nasty. There is no way I will be able to drink that stuff, I honestly couldn't describe it if someone asked. Maybe dry and gritty...and viscous to boot UGH! I was wondering about the Protein shots and if those were allowed. I'm assuming they are? I'd much rather drink something gross in 3oz then in 20oz. Yeah Krista, I'm not too sure how I feel about the unjury unflavored in the allowed drinks yet either. I figured it was going to make it murky but haven't tried yet:001_unsure:. We have to take a trip to Walmart today anyway so I'm going to look for those protein shots. I'll let you know if I have any luck. -

Thanks Mary! I'm excited and nervous all at the same time! Today it's more excitement then nervousness. I just want it to be done and over with and be on the losers bench LOL I still have to go all the way to GNC, the closest one is 45 mins from my house, and get the Isopure. I'm wondering if I should pickup some kind of Protein shake stuff while I'm there???? I already ordered the unjury flavorless but I think we can eventually have regular Protein shakes right??? I suppose I could wait on those though. I hope the Isopure isn't too nasty:blink:. For the ladies that bought it, what was the cost for it? Krista, I suppose it's because of the lower BMI that I don't have to pre-op diet. I'll see you Thursday morning; I'll probably chat with you on FB before that though:biggrin0: -

Bah:scared0: I can't believe it's so close, I'm freaking out a bit...well a lot! I'm SO nervous but I'm leaving my two boy ages 3 and 4 in my husband and sisters care, so I think that is adding to it. I'm just SO nervous but I've had 10 surgeries and I dislike having surgery:thumbdown: I'm really worried about the second day as I've heard that one is the worst...I just hope I do OK. Krista I can't wait to meet you at the airport! The rest of you ladies I will see at the hospital (hopefully) and I can't wait to meet everyone! I can't believe it's almost here. -

I'm getting excited also...or nervous LOL I think it's a bit of both! I can't believe we are the only 2 scheduled and we found each other, small world! My mother is going with me, I don't think I could've gone alone; I have 2 young children so my husband has to stay with them. I can't wait and I'm freaking out trying to get all the loose ends tied up:scared0: I'm sure before I know it we will be done and on the way home WOOT WOOT!! I'd send a friend request but I don't know how on here:confused1: so I'll wait for you to do it:) -

Spinal or general for surgery
Alish replied to log_lex's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I believe some Dr.s do both the spinal and the general. My question is can you just do the general without the spinal? I've had spinals before and been fine; I would just prefer not to use one and just do the general. Does anyone know if this is an option with Aceves? -

I'd like to know also:thumbup1: -
I'm a low BMIer also so I now what you mean! I'm very impatient, especially if I have a function or something to go to. That was my main reason for doing the HCG diet in the first place; we were having a huge family party for my 2 sons and my Nephew's birthday. I SO wanted to lose some weight before that so I did the HCG and lost about 20 by that time. I don't know about adding the HCG with the sleeve, I personally wouldn't recommend it as your body has to take time for the hormones to adjust after the sleeve. I can't imagine throwing another thing in there for your body to deal with along with getting used to it's new stomach. Maybe 6 months after the surgery, but not within the first few months. That's my take on it anyway, I'd just let myself get used to the sleeve first. I've never had a problem losing weight once my body got started even being at a low BMI. It was just getting it to start losing that was hard. So I wouldn't get to worried about not losing fast enough, you may lose fast, you never know. Throwing some exercise in wouldn't hurt and should speed up the loss. I hope you have fantastic fast results from your sleeve:thumbup: Here is the link to my blog: Penny-wise Mama's HCG Diet!: First day for HCG To moderators: If I've broken any rules by posting please feel free to remove it.

I have, I don't recommend it. I blogged the entire experiance and I'm happy to give you the link if you PM me as I don't know about posting rules in this forum. I lost 22lbs in 29 days. It was extremely hard, I was starving and miserable the entire time. I ended up putting every bit back on (and then some) and I did follow the protocol to the T. It's a complete scam in my opinion and just messes your metabolism up even more. The HCG does nothing to subdue hunger at all, I've used injectable HCG many times as an infertility treatment while trying to get pregnant. A decrease in hunger was never one of the side effects, and I took it in way higher doses than pounds and inches calls for during infertility treatments. I do believe that the HCG helps your body to release fat as I've seen many obese people lose weight during pregnancy; both my sister and my sister in law. I've also seen the same thing happen to a friend of mine. On average they all lost about 30lbs each during pregnancy. HCG probably does contribute to easier loss of fat but you are literarily starving yourself at a mere 500 calories a day. Just think about what that does to your body. The only way to maintain the weight loss with the HCG diet is to do the diet over and over again. Coming from someone with experience; please don't try it, you'll just gain it all back and probably more. I followed the diet to a T before during and after and I'm 17lbs heavier than I was when I started that diet over a year ago:thumbdown:. I'd recommend fruta planta over HCG any day.
