    I made it!

After a stall at about 143 I'm finally at my personal goal weight in 19 weeks post-op. It looks like I'm having no trouble keeping my Kcal down so I expect to go lower. I know I'd never have accomplished this without the sleeve! My surgery is a secret so I cannot post photos but believe me.....it's amazing! What kinda of fitness goals do people set? It's nice to be working on something. I have no: fatigue, reflux or complications. My only compliant is hair loss which obviously is considered normal.

    For Those Who Love Soda...

I still drink diet coke. Not everyday, not fast and I don't pretend its good for me. . . . BUT I still have great restriction and am maintaining my (lower than) goal weight very easily.
  4. A lot of women gain weight after having a baby-you lose sleep and sit around a lot. You grab "whatever" food instead of what is best. My Christmas 5 lbs was from Cookies and mixed drinks (yes, I had lots of fun).
  5. And oddly enough I get a dumping syndrome even tho I'm sleeved. Sugar by itself makes me shakey, nauseous and my pulse high. If I weren't feeling restriction like you state-I'd be nervous. Good luck!
  6. Wow, everybody is so different! Usually I have sips with meals and still have great restriction with veggies and protein foods. HOWEVER the world is full of delicious slider foods. I basically feel no restriction with cookies and ice cream etc. So yeah, I have to eat the other stuff instead.

Good luck stopping losing weight! I'm eating Cherry Garcia right now because I'm trying to stop losing.
  9. I just wanted to make a post here. My sleeve surgery was exactly one year ago. I've had zero complications and feel better than I have in years! My goal was 140lbs but I've easily leveled off at 120! I was very nervous about getting the surgery, but it's been nothing but great!

How many calories are you getting in?

Funny somebody should post here because I stepped on the scale this am and sorta got worried. I've been 120-122 for about 3-4 months now which is already 20 lbs less than my goal. This last weekend I exercised twice-walk/run/weights/elliptical and now I'm 118! I really feel just fine but this skinny was never my intention! In addition to excellent protein choices yesterday I had McDonald's fries, potato chips, a builder's bar (270 Kcal) and Ben and Jerry's Cherry Garcia yesterday! I know I just need to add snacks with high quality fats. Sugars (like yesterday's ice cream) make me feel crashy and my pulse race. I never have followed the "no liquids at meals" rule nor have I stopped drinking diet coke which i love love love.

Yesterday I have the most annoying NSV. I went to the gym and was wearing my wedding band which was loose on my middle finger because it no longer stays on my ring finger. I realized a few hours later my ring was missing! I think it came off at the gym because I cannot find it anywhere else! I'll call them tomorrow morning. If I find it-I'll get it resized. If I don't I'll have to replace it!

    Last Meal...lol.

Don't worry about a last meal, I eat anything I want to now. Only difference is I'm satisfied after a few delicious bites! I had corn chowder (homemade and rich), grapes, diet coke and flourless chocolate cake for supper tonight.

    One Year

My ticker is public and tells all. Last January I weighed 188.5. Yesterday morning I weighed 120! I reached my doctor's goal of 156 in April (3 months), MY goal of 140 in June (5 months) and I've been maintaining 119-122 (except Christmas when I was 125 for a few days due to cookies and hard liquor) since September (8 months). I was "low BMI" so I didn't have as much to lose but I don't regret doing this. Sometimes I'm hard on myself and wish I could have done with without surgery but then I remember the monster that is hunger and how I had to starve and jog and starve and jog just be 150, which was a fine weight for me but almost impossible to maintain!
  15. I had the sleeve last year and my friend had the Gastric Bypass. Both of us are losing. She ended up back in the hospital with complications and wishes she'd done the sleeve too. It's probably not fair to compare though, I'm 15 years younger and had less to lose.
  16. The biggest change is in me. I've become friends with a skinny woman who I would have felt fat around before. She woulda been friends with me fat but now I can stand to be around her-you know? My personality isn't actually different, I just feel much more comfortable in social situations and I think that translates into being "treated differently." My best eating friend was mad at first for not over-eating socially but she's happy for me and got over it.

  18. In the first month I lost 20 lbs. Of course that was the hardest time because my intake was restricted. Life is utterly normal now that I can eat anything. I have to make an effort to not keep losing! So far, so easy.
  19. A year. But I had a low BMI so felt guilty about doing it when there were so many others fatter than me and getting time off of work was hard. Once I accepted that it was ok to have a "cosmetic" surgery I went ahead. I cannot even begin to tell you how awesome I look and feel. I'm rarely hungry and finally food and hunger don't run my life.

By George! Dare I Say Thin?

Amazing! You are so cute! And 44? NO WAY! Happy birthday!
  21. I found the people with who had bariatric surgery a while ago chiming in to be encouraging for the most part. THanks!
  22. I drink a little Diet Coke most days because I really really like it. My restriction is still very tight. I don't think it makes sense that carbonation would effect restriction or stomach size-the "pressure" of the bubbles would escape up or down before it would stretch the stomach. I worry more about stretching with dense protein because it makes me feel so so so full. I also eat bites of fried food but its not really my thing.

    My biggest success Post-VSG

I've been wondering what was going on. Congrats! She's gorgeous! Great thing about starting labor on your own is you know she was totally ready. I've got two little girls and you are in for a ton of fun! Also, I had breastfeeding issues/low supply so if you want an perspective or hints just let me know. (Basically-#1 FEED THE BABY, you've got that down #2 You can do both-you don't have to stop all the benefits of breastfeeding just because you have to give some supplement. #3 Ask friends (healthy obviously) for pumped breastmilk, you'd be amazed at others' generosity and how good it feels to feed the baby human milk.

    How do I tell people?

I'm impressed that so many of you are so open. I've only told 2 people. The only hard thing about this whole thing has been all the attention-people want to know how I've done it. I have so many facebook messages asking me how I lost all the weight. I really don't want to be defensive or deal with their reactiion so I don't tell-I'm pretty private so that is consistant with my personality. I have a new naturally thin friend and we eat about the same and she doesn't ask or bug me or care. Its really nice.
