Yes, Dr. Alvarez has had leaks. If they tell you your stomach is just sore and it will get better--it may not; take Nexium--it may not; but it is life threatening and after 4 surgeries, it still is leaking. The next step is total stomach removal because there isn't enough stomach left to stitch or work with. I honestly don't believe in the one shot and it's over. They need to have regular follow-up as the leak started 2 weeks after surgery. If any of you are trying to save money--don't. The complications have amassed over $500,000 in medical bills. Bariatric surgeons don't want to go behind some other bariatric surgeon regardless of what they may tell you.
