    African American Sleevers

    Hello all, I am a 26 y/o AA and had my surgery since 10/4/10.I have been natural for the last 5 years. I have been experiencing a lot of hair loss. I am lucky that I have pretty thick hair so no one notices but me. I am also not getting in enough protein....I need some protein shots. While any feedback is totally welcome. Thanks again for starting the site. P.S. I have no stretch marks thus far and I have lost over 50lbs. I use Coconut oil on my hair and skin. That's it.

  5. I am having a difficult time staying motivated lately. I think that I am in one of my many funks, but along with it comes my bad coping mechanisms, I snack and am not drinking water. I have a hard time getting it down. Also, stop going to the gym. I have constant anxiety attacks. I have been trying to increase my protein but when I drink the shakes, it makes me very ill. I had my surgery on the 4th of October and am currently at a stale @ 183 for the last two weeks. I know to many who will read this, your first response would be to get over it and just do what I have to. That is a lot easier said than done. What I am looking for is a mentor, perhaps someone who has had a similar experience, help to encourage me. My email is mxthompson12@yahoo.com. Thanks again.

  7. At a weight loss stale and not surprised. I am having a difficult time guys. Lost my motivation and am converting back to my old ways-sneaking in snacks. I am trying to control myself. I will go to the gym in the morning and try to maintain a routine. Hopefully it works. Wish me luck.

  19. I have been reading so many forums and discussions on this board that I thought I had everything firgured out....somewhat. But nothing could've prepared me for all this pain. I am 2 days post-op and what to greet all my attending nurses with tears of pain. I would say on a scale of 1-10 I'm @ about a 8. I had a hiatal hernia fixed as well, so this may be contributing to the pain. I can't really drink much....I'm pushing about 16 oz's a day. I am excited about all that is left to come and plan on leaning on my sleeve family for advice, encouragement and support. Thanks for listening and its good to know I'm not the only one.

    Protein Shake Alternatives

    I am so glad you posted this. I am having absolutely the same problem. Whenever I attempted to drink my protein shake, I will get a swallow in and then feel really sick afterwards. I thought that I was just sabotaging myself. I have also been craving more food now. I am not sure if this is my body yearning for the protein. I have eaten four times in the last two days. This is something very different for me, usually I would have no appetite. Let me know if there is anythings in particular that you do that works for you. Thanks
  21. I had my surgery on the 4 th of October and so far, I've lost about 20lbs. However, I ve had a really hard time following the diet directions. I haven't been eating devil dogs or anything but I was eating watermelon and mango my first week out. This week, I have just started to eat small portions of protein(ie. Chicken and fish). I don't have any appetite for protein shakes or broth and for the first three days, I only got about 16ozs of liquid in. I know that I will receive much criticism from this post and that's fine. I am trying to figure out if this will damage me later on. I need to reiterate that I am not eating bad food or drinking soda but just trying to give myself some nutrients. I feel very weak most of the time.
