    i'm going to fail....

Yes, I feel like that frequently. Especially right now because I think I've entered the three week stall. I try to give myself pep talks, but it is hard! I too deep down feel like I'm going to fail at this too and it will be "just another one of the diets" that didn't work type of a thing. Logically, I tell myself that it won't happen this time, but after so many attempts and so many failures it is hard to get out of that thinking. So, I totally understand how your feeling.
  3. I am 3 1/2 weeks out. I was wondering how everyone was doing on getting your vitamins and calcium in during the day? I am having problems getting it all in, especially the calcium. I have the calcium and vitamin chews from Bariactric Advantage, but the calcium chews are only 250 mg. That means for me to get in 1500-2000 I need approximately 6 a day. But it is too much. My tummy won't hold that, meals, and protein drinks, plus water. So, how do you recent sleevers get it all in and how? Any ideas would be appreciated.
  4. I too am having trouble getting in the protein. I am able to drink two protein drinks a day, but the meals are tough, because I eat so little right now. I am a little worried, because often I don't have the room for vitamins even. I called my nut to talk about it, but she felt like I was doing ok, but I am worried. I too am now having headaches. I thought it was from the heat, but perhaps its not. I am going to try your ideas Tiffikins! Thanks!
  5. :biggrin0:Hi Norma and Kansas, Yes, I'm in KC, MO and my surgeon is Dr. Hoehn at KC Bariatric Center. I loved Dr. Hoehn! (He's my hero now, LOL). I had my surgery at Hearland Spine and Speciality Hospital. Kansas you are in good hands!
  6. Awesome news! I am so happy for you and you should feel very proud of your success!

    No more Insulin!

CONGRATS! I too was amazed when I could get off my meds for HP three days after surgery! It is totally awesome! WAY TO GO!
  8. Holli, I know that can be very discouraging! But there may be reasons that people did not react. One may be the weight fluctuations, as mentioned by Maddie, but also, some people may feel uncomfortable talking about weight unless they know you very well. I know myself, I'm not one to really discuss weight with someone I don't know real well, unless they make a comment to me about their weight loss. I guess with my own history of yo-yo weight, I just am not sure if it is something that person wants to discuss. So, cheer up! It sounds as if the people you are closest too (Office) notice and don't discount that!!! Feel proud about what you have done for yourself! :scared0:

    Did anyone cheat?

I totally agree Staci! Please work at sticking with the instructions you have been given. I know it's tough, I'm still restricted. But our stomaches are so delicate/tender right now, but that will change quickly enough. Remember the instructions are based on experience about what works and what doesn't. PLEASE stay with it a little longer! Take care and best of luck!
  10. I wasn't aware about the NSAIDS. I'm not sure I understand why we can't have them????
  11. Yes, he was awesome! I have been very impressed! I was at the Heartland Spine and Speciality Hospital and was impressed with them too! Everything is going well for me. How about you?

  12. I'm so sorry you are going through this Delawaregle. Are you getting most of your protein in? If not, try to get as much of that as possible. Also, being dehydrated will make you feel like crap too. so try to get in water as much as possible. Hang in there!
  13. CONGRATS! I am so happy for you!

    what size sleeve are you?

I don't know what size my sleeve is, but I'm three weeks out and can only take in about 2.5 oz of mushie food right now. It amazes me the amout of food I eat now and what I ate before...it seems insane! LOL
  15. I totally agree with what has been said. I have told one close friend about my surgery and no one at my work knows because of this very reason. People (unless they are heavy) do not understand what it is like to be heavy and live with the consequences of that everyday! My husband and best friend tell me that I should be proud to tell people what I have done because it means that I want to be healthy. However, I feel like they will be judging me and how I am handling it. But, deep down inside, there is a small part of me that is afraid that I will fail at this too (even though it isn't likely) and then everyone will be making comments about the failure. Does anyone know what I mean? Plus, I've always been a pretty private person anyway. I haven't returned to work yet because I'm off for the summer, but I am sort of dreading it because people will begin to notice and ask me questions. I'm still now sure how I will respond to this. My husband and kids are very proud of me though and that makes me very happy!
  16. To me it was a HUGE relief when both were removed. The nurse removed them before I left and there was no pain at all. The drain was a weird feeling because I felt it come out, but it was not painful. The tube on it was very, very, very long! LOL!!! The drain sort of tugged on me all the time so it was a relief for me when it came out. Hope this helps give you a little peace.

    Anyone else belong here?

LOL!! My daughter turned 31 in June! Boy do I feel old! LOL
  18. Anitalou, I too was a HUGE coke drinker. It was something that worried me also! I finally realized that i couldn't continue to hold myself back from being healthly all because of a drink! But I was pleasantly surprised that I really don't miss drinking Coke. I just don't crave it like I did. My family members still drink it and at times I wish I could have one, but it is'nt like a big craving for it, I believe that feeling is more of a head thing than a stomach "need". So, that was one battle that I was pleasantly surprised with! For me it is sort of hard to explain about the cravings. It seems like I just flat don't have them anymore. It took my husband a while to get use to eating in front of me. He felt like I was feeling deprived, but that wasn't it at all. It just doesn't bother me. It isn't like the dieting that I went through either. It is a very different feeling.
  19. I'm sorry to hear that you are having a hard time. I can tell you that it does absolutely get better everyday. I too had a hard time getting everything in as well. However, I was told that the first week or so I needed to concentrate on liquids. Now, I'm almost three weeks out and it is so much better. There are some days that it is easier to get it all in then some days it is very hard. I just do the very best I can everyday. Try not to be too hard on yourself right now, just keep the liquids down as much as possible. It will get better!

    Laying on stomach?

I'm almost three weeks out and I can't imagine sleeping on my stomach right now. But everyone is different and I would think that when it is comfortable for you, it is probably ok to sleep that way. I think our body tells us with pain signals what we can do and not do.

    3 days post op

I'm so glad that you are starting to feel better. I had mine on June 15th and I understand about you saying that it is rough. I've had surgeries before so I kind of had an idea about what it would be like, but it really is very different from other surgeries. Everyday it gets better. I think I really began to feel "human again" about day 8 or so. I still have a lot of soreness on my left side. Hmmmmm......... I guess that's normal??
  22. Thank you everyone for your valuable input. I'm pretty sure I've lost inches because of my clothes fitting differently, so that always raises my spirits! Sarah

    Surgical Stockings

Yes, I had to wear the sexy stockings! But I only needed to wear them the first three days then only to sleep long periods for several days after that. Getting them on and off was a challenge, but I just asked my girls to help me and they were more than willing to help mommy.

    Leak Repair?

Hey Champ...... I was just wondering how everything is now. I'm sure she is well on her way to recovery. I was thinking of you and your family and was hoping to hear good news.
  25. The morning of my surgery I was at 207. I am looking forward to getting to my goal which is 130 also. I believe that it is possible with being careful about what I eat and by exercising. I'm confident that 130 is a great weight for me. I'm sure you can get there too!
