My doctor said that I probably would never feel hungar again. But I would learn to recognize the sense of an empty tummy. I've never heard that it could return.

I did something stupid...help?
SarahD. replied to a.walker's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How are you doing now? Did you get ahold of anyone and if so what did s/he say? I hope everything is ok and it will just slide right through! Hang in there. -
I've had surgeries before my sleeve. My incisions seem to stay a pinkish color for about 5 months or so. Maybe my incisions heal slower, but it takes them a LONG time to get to the white scar line look.

I would say yes to that question. Your body has been through a lot the last few days and is still adjusting to the new tummy, working ALL of the drugs out that were in your system and a lower calorie count. But, you can always call your dr. office and ask. But I know it took a week before I began to feel "human" again. Hang in there! :tongue_smilie:

Saving up money to get the sleeve in mexico
SarahD. replied to kerri21's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me, it took several different sources. I used my tax return, flex pay benefit at work and then put back what ever I could afford out of every check. I was so surprised that I was able to get it all together! However, it was worth every penny and I would do it all again in a heart beat!!!! -
When I questioned my nut about this, she told me not to worry about counting the carbs, just getting in the protein and water. So, now almost 6 weeks out, I'm still not counting, just eating lots of protein. I still don't know about the "right" amount of carbs, but by the time I get my protein in, there isn't much room left for anything else! LOL

Strangely energized. Related to this whole sleeve journey?
SarahD. replied to Catyroses's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am having the same reaction! I am much more active now and I feel like I'm always doing something around the house! Another reason I am so happy with the sleeve! -
Yes, I agree! That does seem very high. I paid 12,000 for the pre-op visits, support visits, surgery and hospital stay. I would continue to search and ask more questions.

Mini-Me, CONGRATS!!!!! I can't EVEN begin to image how it must feel! Rejoice in this moment and enjoy! All of your hard work has paid off!

LOL!!!! Ok, well, now I know that it will get EVEN better! This was an "unexpected" benefit!!!

Quality of life after sleeve
SarahD. replied to 4romatl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Actually, I thank God everyday that I was able to get the sleeve! (I was a self pay person.) I love it, would do it again in a heartbeat, and feel very loved by myself because I did this for me! It was undoubtedly the best thing I have ever done for myself, my health and my family. -
I had the same thing and I just keep drinking liquids. I was so scared of becoming dehydrated! It was a weird feeling too and I thought it might never go away, but it did after about a week as I recall. I also had "good" days and "bad" days. I think that just goes with having surgery in general.
-
I was self pay, but, the doctors, (PCP and surgeon) considered my co-morbids as an important part of my situation. My BMI was just barely 35. So, some of my issues included, HBP hypertension, joint pain, chronic pain syndrom, Fibromyaligia, severe acid reflux, and hypertriglyceridemia. Which since the surgery, I'm off HBP meds, my joints aren't hurting, and I haven't needed to take my darvocet (pain killer)! I only 5 weeks out and am still totally amazed at this! LOL

So sorry you are going through this! Have you spoken with your surgeon yet about this situation? Also, you might try calling your insurance company and asking them about what will happen if you have to extend your surgery date. I do know that I've seen people's posts stating they had antibiotics before surgery. I don't know the situation, just that they had mentioned it in a post. So, perhaps, it is one that won't mess up your surgery. Just something to think about. Hang in there! I know it would stink if you had to postpone it, but just try to look at the positive that you will still be able to have the surgery! It's probably going to work out ok, it just might take some phone calling on your part! Good luck and let us know how it goes.

I'm so sorry that you are going through this. I'm with Mila. I would keep calling and asking questions. Since the base doesn't/can't perform them, they might have ideas of where to go and what to do. Do you know of anyone else with Tricare who has had the sleeve? If so, how did it work for them? I would ask around, even consider starting a thread here about it to see what answers/ideas you might get from others. I hope it works out for you and you get what is best for you!

need input from the "
SarahD. replied to dbernier01's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would agree with the posts here. It probably will be OK, but just be sure that you can get some rest in! I know I wiped out very easily. As long as everything goes well, (and it will) I would think you will be fine with the exception of the fatigue. Good luck! -
How often did you change clothes sizes?
SarahD. replied to lamsunshine's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Within three weeks I was down one dress size! I couldn't believe how fast it happened. I am about 5 weeks out and some of my pre surgery pants almost fall off of me! I am truly amazed at times by the sleeve! -
anyone get dizzy
SarahD. replied to Southernlawyer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
WOW! I have the same issues with getting dizzy. I have been off of bp meds since surgery, but I've had it checked and it is fine....hmmmm....interesting! I'd be interested in knowing what doctors are saying! -
So far I am doing great! It is an adjustment, but I would do it again in a heartbeat! I had the same type of thoughts during pre-op stuff. As it got closer, I began to "rethink" my decision and had to remind myself that I have done tons of research and I knew that I wanted this to happen. One of my big concerns was how would I socialize with my family? After all, eating is a huge part of that with my family. But it hasn't been a problem at all. It is funny what a person will worry about......:tongue_smilie: One thing about it though is you have an awesome doctor and a great hospital!

AWESOME! I am so glad to hear that you are doing well. Keep up with the protein, b/c as you know, it will help with healing. Keep us updated! I can't image having to drive 6.5 hours after surgery!

I know EXACTLY how you feel! I also feel like I will be the ONLY one that won't lose weight with the sleeve. I have to remind myself that I will, but it takes time! :thumbup1:
