Buying Clothes While Loosing Weight?
MommyTawnie replied to MommyTawnie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
YAY!! I'm soooo happy right now.. I just went to a few yard sales and walked away with 4 pairs of pants for $2.00 yep $2.00 can you believe that, and what's better is I'm hitting more sales tomorrow. I bought 2 pair that are a size to small for me but hey for $.50 who cares I will be wearing them soon enough. Now if I could find some shoes that cheap. LoL I never knew loosing weight would cause you to loose a shoe size. I've gone from a size 11 to a size 10 and it's like no one out there sales there shoes if they are larger then a size 8-9.. LoL I'm sooooo Happy I think I might celebrate with an Atkins Sweet and Salty Bar.. -
Buying Clothes While Loosing Weight?
MommyTawnie replied to MommyTawnie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just don't have much money to invest in to anything right now. I just spent $54 on 2 new bras because the bras I had where no longer fitting the girls.. I have managed to find a new pair of jeans from Goodwill that were on sale for $.50!!! I grabbed them up as quickly as I could. However a week later they are already baggy on me and I'm not quite a 14 yet, so here I am stuck in the middle again. Do they sale size 15 pants/shorts? LoL As for my tops I don't worry about them I have a neighbor that just cleared out some of her closet space and sent a bag full of shirts/blouses over to me and I must say they fit perfectly. Some are to small, but hey I will get there eventually. And by suggestion I have started buying pants/shorts that I find during my $.50 day trips to goodwill. I figure I will fit them eventually so I might as well buy them while they are so cheap. LoL My 1st garage sale tomorrow let hope I find some goody goody deals.. -
This question is for sleevers that was 230 to 240 pre-sleeve
MommyTawnie replied to Weightbgone's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was 243 day of surgery. At 2 months out I hit 199.. I will be 3 months out on the 21st and I am now 189.. -
No they couldn't even drani the absess and Fluid the first trip to the hospital because my spleen was blocking everything. The 2nd time however they did an exploritory surgery and places a jp drain and drain the remaining absess. With the picc line and TPN my leak healed on it's own.. Had it not healed he was considering putting in a stint until it did heal. Thankfully that didn't have to happen. I was told by both doctors that they are very uncomfortable.
-
That's my question how long after surgery did it take to discover the leak? I just got over 14 days in the hospital because I had a leak with absess that was pushing on my diaphragm. I however also had pneumonia and a partially collapsed lung. I was put on TPN by Picc Line for 9 days I came home with the Picc Line just incase I had to go back. My leak developed at a month which is something my surgeon said he has never heard of happening before. It gets better, and don't be surprised if when you are allowed back on food and liquids that you feel like you did the first week after surgery. I didn't feel like eating anything and I was so scared to put anything in my mouth because I was afraid I would cause the leak to come back. Be thankful the doctors caught yours and it didn't go untreated. I was in pain for a week before I started running fever. After 2 trips to 2 different hospitals I was finally treated.. I thought I was going to die the first couple of days.. It was horrible, but looking at the past month to 2 months I don't regret anything.. I am happy with my choice.. I am finally able to eat around 2-3 ounces and I am finally feeling better..

where to find a support group??
MommyTawnie posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am going on 2 1/2 months out from my surgery, and would love to attend a support group, but I don't know where/when they are in the Beaumont, Tx area.. I had my surgery in Lake Charles, LA so I don't even know if I would be welcomed at a support group around here, and an hour drive for a 1 hour support group is out of my range right now with the prices of gas.. I get on here in hopes that someone is in the chat room, and of course no one is ever there. I just want to talk to someone 1 on 1 and not have them say well I don't know what to tell you because I haven't had surgery like you. My husband is working towards his potential surgery, but he still doesn't know how to respond to my questions. After all questions like when will the reflux end, or when will I be able to eat with out my stomach talking to me for an hour after? Are not questions someone that's not been through surgery can answer. I just feel a support group is what I need at this point and time, but I don't know where they are? -
Old habits are trying to come back!!!!
MommyTawnie replied to Deedle Dee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I will be 3 months on the 21st, and my doctors office just sent me my script for blood work, and a food log for 1 weeks logging. It's so they can see my eating habbits and I can see what I need to change if anything with what I am eating during the day.. Try logging your meals and snacks and see if that helps with the "feeling" of hunger. Maybe seeing that you just ate 2 hours ago will help control the want/need to eat again. -
Weight training (abs) after surgery
MommyTawnie replied to lash44's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor cleared me for full training at 8 weeks. He said nothing was limited just don't over work myself... -
It sounds like you are having reflux problems. I am almost 2 1/2 months out and I am still dealing with it. The best thing I have found that works with the taste is 3 hours mints "I found them at Target" the feeling on your teeth will eventually go away, but until then try brushing more often. Also warm/hot tea works well with washing the taste down.

Post-Op Hunger Poll
MommyTawnie replied to Can'tweight's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have on a busy day gone from 8am - 8pm before realizing that I haven't eaten anything since breakfast. I am 2 months out and it's been rough, but not having the hunger pains to remind you to eat is different. Now I have noticed if I haven't eaten in a while and my body needs food I start feeling sick to my stomach. I snack on something small "chicken bits, tuna, etc." and feel much better. It's wonderful not feeling hungery all the time like I did in the past. I could eat and an hour later feel hungry again.. This is a blessing compared to the constant hunger.. -
How lond did it take for you to get the surgery?
MommyTawnie replied to snowfie9's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It really depends on Insurance.. I had Aetna when I had my surgery and they had 2 options for the supervised diet. The 1st option was doing 3 consecutive month with your pcp, dietician, and an exercise therapist, and of course the pych eval. Or the 2nd option the one that I did was 6 months charting with my pcp, 1 meeting with a dietician and 1 meeting with the pychologist. I made my decision in January of 2010 that I was going to go through and have surgery to loose the weight I couldn't loose on my own. I had my first meeting with my 1st surgeon in March. In April I had to have surgery which kept me away from the gym so I quit tracking my weight for a couple of months. I started back on June 3, we submitted to insurance on December 8th. I was approved for surgery on December 10th. My surgery date was December 21st, and it has been the best decision.. -
My total food bill this week: $13
MommyTawnie replied to DougNichols's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 2 months out and there's no way I am going any where near chili right now.. I still have reflux and adding chili to the mix would be a nightmare, and as for the refried Beans my surgeon told me to go ahead with them because of the amount of protein you can get from 1 serving. I usually just have a tablespoon of beans with about an ounce of cheese as a snack and boy does it fill me up.. -
I STILL SEE MYSELF AS FAT
MommyTawnie replied to sickofrollercoaster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started putting all my focus into one part of a my body every day.. For example today I am focusing on my legs.. I tell myself that my legs are small they are no longer what they use to be, and that I should feel happy with the progress I have made.. I am not doing this to be skinny I am doing it for my health. I love myself no matter how I think I look. I've done this everyday and I don't know if it's actually working or if I just haven't seen enough pictures of myself post-op to really sit and judge myself on how I think I look. Focus on positive changes. Pull out old pictures if you have to and compare the faces in each picture. Compare the body you have now to what your body use to look like.. You have to know that everyone looks at themselves and most of the time hates/dislikes what they see. I've seen pictures of my sister before "really thin well in shape" and have seen a beautiful skinny person. She looks and sees someone that's fat. We do it to ourselves when looking at pictures. I am sure you are not what you use to be. Heck I've lost 63 lbs and I think I look amazing compared to what I did in December. Best of Luck to you and remember focus on yourself not pictures.. -
Finally got up the courage..
MommyTawnie replied to MommyTawnie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's what I got was the Isopure Zero.. Yes it does come in more flavors and now that I know they are not horrible I will be making a trip back to the vitamin shop to buy some more. They maybe a little pricey "$3.99 a bottle" but they are worth it. I don't mind spending $4 a day for my protein.. Heck I would spend twice that for 1 meal before I had my surgery. Another drink I found that wasn't so bad is the Pure Protein shakes.. Chocolate is my favorite its pretty smooth and it kind of taste like chocolate milk to a certain point. LoL -
I have been having lots of problems with protein. They don't seem to agree with me at all no matter how I try to get it in it always makes me sick. I bought some of the Isopure Grape Frost drinks and was nervous about trying it because of the way everything else has made me feel. Finally today I got up the courage to open up a bottle and try it. Not bad at all!! I think I have found my protein drink, yes it may be 2 months later but I have found it.. No more gagging down the powders. It comes in a RTD bottle and it's not that bad it kind of reminds me of koolaid with the smell. The taste is a little chalky/dry but a few second after swollowing my mouth feels normal again. Plus it's 40g of Protein a bottle!! That with my meat and other protein rich foods that I eat I will surely be getting in my 64g of protein a day. For anyone looking for a good protein drink try this one it's the best one I have found so far, and I am always looking..

Question for post sleevers!!
MommyTawnie replied to DazyKrazie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had to have surgery twice once was for the actual sleeve the 2nd was to place a drain tube in because of a leak. Both time the breathing tube was taken out before I woke up. However my throat was really scratchy and sore for a day or 2. The blood clots yes you want to walk as much as possible. And use the little breathing thing they give you as much as you can and make yourself cough. You don't want to catch pneumonia after surgery not fun at all.. All that walking is also good for the gas pains you may or may not have after. -
Stalling Already :(
MommyTawnie replied to SkinnyHereICome's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I to had the 3 week stall and it was a bit frustrating, but around 4 1/2-5 week the weight started coming off. Then around 6 weeks I stalled again for a week, but now it's a pretty steady loss every week.. I can't believe I am almost 10 weeks out.. I've done good and lost during the 10 weeks 50lbs!!! -
If push comes to shove just finish out a 6 month supervised diet.. That's what I did and I was approved within 10 days. I met with my PCP once a month for weigh in and a detailed description of what his recommendations are for exercise were, and he pulled a 2 year weight history for me. I met 1 time with the NUT, and 1 time with the Pychologist. I had a sleep study done which showed sleep apnea. And last but not least my 1 consultation with my surgeon. I had finished out my 3 months supervised diet only to find out I didn't do all I was suppose to do for the 3 months. If you ever get confused on what is needed call your insurance. I had Aetna when I had my surgery and like I said I had no problem getting approved..
-
If you can't make it the 6 months can you do the 3 months that most insurance companies allow if co-morbidities are present? I haven't heard of anyone just appealing before a claim was even sent in. As for the personal letter although it is a personal plead from you some insurance companies never read what's been writen in the letter. I wish you luck! I truely do I myself went through the 6 months supervised diet and was approved 10 days after submititng..

WTF did I do to myself?
MommyTawnie replied to MustangAli's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First question did the doctor start you on your vitamins already or did you start on them by yourself? I was told not to start my vitamins until 2 weeks after surgery. 2nd question is a question for you to ask yourself. Why did you do the surgery to begin with? I'm sure the answer is because of health issues no matter if they are present health problems or possible future health problems, and the fact that you can live a normal life after it's all said and done.. The pain will get better I assure you. I took pain meds the first 3-4 days exactly as prescribed and my pain level was very low.. Don't focus on the bad things that are going on now. Focus on the long term results you will achieve. -
The healthiest snacks...
MommyTawnie replied to curtsj01's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have ordered a wataburger jr before plain and just ate the meat. It was quick it was there and I had everything else taken off of it so I don't think it was to bad. That's why when you travel "like I'm doing this weekend" You make sure you pack snacks that are healthy and only stop at places you know will have something you can eat.. Even if you have to stop at a sit down restraunt for a bit do it.. It's got to be better then watching everyone else indulge on things you once loved.. Plus you are less likely to eat it quickly like you would in the car.. -
My first goal was to get back into Onderland!! I achieved that goal at a week before my 2 months out. My 2nd Goal is to reach 180lbs I weighed today and I am at 191 that's only 11LBS before I reach my 2nd goal. Holy cow I never thought it would happen so quickly!! I am starting to really enjoy my sleeve once again. I know there for a couple of weeks "hospital stays and another surgery" I questioned what have I done to myself. Now that I am better I couldn't be happier!! Now if I can reach my 3rd goal by my birthday in June "160lbs" I am only 51lbs away from my over all goal YAY!!!

How to avoid the topic to new people?
MommyTawnie replied to buchannon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
To funny!! I had my weight loss surgery back in December, and my hubby is going into his 3rd month of supervised dieting for his weight loss surgery hopefully this summer.. We have talked alot about date nights after he is sleeved as well.. We figure we can get off with a very very cheap date after it's all said and done.. I know I took my two children to lunch the other day and only spent $8 we ordered 1 plate and split it between the 3 of us, and still had enough left over to bring home.
