Of couse I was at work, so I missed the call. It was the Aetna nurse. I did talk to the doc's insurance person late tuesday, so I assume she's submitted the revision paperwork. Might Aetna be calling me to comfirm or praytell guild me thru the process? I will call on monday because she left her direct extention. Has anyone been called like this?

update to the revision roller-coaster ride
dbernier01 posted a topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
so I had an upper GI -- seems it's withing normal range with some dilation but doc said that dilation is expected 3 yrs out. he's going to schedule an endoscopy so see why it hurts to eat. which means an empty band when that happens and the joy of gaining more weight. I have my PCP letter and a letter from me and left if with the office - the Ins gal was out so I'll call her Monday. I want them to submit it now anyway to see if I get approved - will still need to get the endoscopy regardless, mbecasue doc wants to see what's happening before he revises. can't take the pain - don't want to wait until it's erroded, etc want this freaking band out. stay turn I will post more of my revision roller coster soon donna -
seems upper GI was "normal" -- with minor dilation that is expected given I am 3 yrs with band -- told doc I don't like the pain when I eat (and not the get stuck pain) but this other weird pain for the last 6 months. So I am going to push for the revison and have them submit to insurance and we'll see. He is also going to do an endoscopy (which means an empty band and more freaking weight gain)

Revision in one operation or two??
dbernier01 replied to chica's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
my doc want 2 but I said no way -- so we'll do an endoskopy to make sure no erosion, etc -- and empty band - then if the tissue is OK he can do in one - otherwise 2 -- I won't know what the outcome will be until I wake up. -
Insurance paid even though no bariatric clause anyone?
dbernier01 replied to blondie1007's topic in Insurance & Financing
ditto here too. it does not mention it nor does it exclude it -- however it covered my lap band (and a ton of other WLS in the company) heck it even covers gender change. I'll find out soon enought on the sleeve revision -
Yeah!!!! I am so happy for you. I was just looking at my Upper GI CD and was wondering how your week went -- I can see it was a good one! congrats

:smile1: I am scheduled for my Upper GI on Friday ....(I so dread this -- but I will force myself to drink extra Water after - because the barium sticks to my small intestines like cement) My appointment with my Band Doc is on Thursday 7/8. I am getting my PCP letter and I will write a letter -- so all will be ready for my 7/8 appointment I am optimistic - but realistic but the good news is my insurance pays for a revision - so I am keeping my fingers crossed that he agrees my band problems warrant a revision at this time. How are the other AETNA insurance - revisions gals going with their process? Donna -- with a pain in the a** Lapband (2007) lost 80 - hoping for a revision to the Sleeve to loose the next 100 (w/o the pain and misery of the band)

My update aka revsion with Aetna Insurance

:wink1: This is a cross post - as I posted it on the Insurance list too Just wanted to give you all an update on my status I am scheduled for my Upper GI on Friday 7/2....(I so dread this -- but I will force myself to drink extra Water after - because the barium sticks to my small intestines like cement & last time I got a small bowel impaction - and all the OTC stuff only treats the lower intentines and it took months for the barium to exit :smile1:) My doc appoint with my Band Doc is on Thursday 7/8. dbernier01 replied to jemmacahill's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
for my band -- I said I was having a "hiatel hernia" operation - which was true -- but for my revsion it's going to be "a female thing" -- that shuts the guys up in the office real quick :-) -
I had an upper GI last yr (dec 08) and I did not poop for almost a month. I did everything - I mean everything (my doc even called me in the power with liq (go-lightly) that you take before a colonoscopy and I did not even poop from that, where it would clean out everyone else!!!) -- but all of the "softeners or lax." work on the lower intestines not the upper (small) which is where the barium was stuck like cement - I had to get an x-ray - and yep had small bowel impaction. It took weeks for it to come outm little by little -- and now I have to get another upper GI next week and I am worried to go thru this again. This time I will drink a ton of water and prune juice to help get the barium moving!

keep us posted -- my doc appt is not until 7/7 and my upper GI on 7/2 I also heard my doc's booking Sept and Oct surgeries now -- so I expect it will be december before I can have a revision.

Have band need revision to sleeve and have questions about Aetna approval process
dbernier01 replied to amm1211's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
question re: your aetna approval for revision --- did you have a upper GI that showed band issues -- or did doc just submit with his determination that you needed a revision to the sleeve? I am trying to collect all my info so I can be prepared for the doc on July 7th -
Hi - how did your surgery go? I live in leesburg and hoping for a band to sleeve revision

dbernier01 replied to amm1211's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Hi -- to both of you who have a band and Aetna approved to revision to sleeve -- what did the doc sumbit -- just that you had a slip I see my doc in 3 weeks -- going to get the upper GI soon so I can have that info with me when I meet with Doc. I don't know if I have a slip -- but I can eat and eat -- yes random restriction then major stuck/slime, other times open flow --- I hate this band. -
New to this, hoping to convert to sleeve soon!

Hi -- I too want a Band to Sleeve -- not sure if Aetna will cover -- what has your experience been with insurance covinging to the sleeve vs a RNY or DS (which I don't want)
