soon2bskinny replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Start.............Current...............Goal..............Lbs to go soon2bskinny....188.8..........176.........160.........16 It's been a good week!! I do so much better when I stay on track. You would think I would realize that and just do it!! I've been eating fruit between meals and drinking at least a gallon of water a day and that seems to really be taking it off for me. -

STALL--I know this is not a new topic but have a question.
soon2bskinny replied to meltingaway's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have been an extremely slow loser from day 1. I had surgery on July 31, 2010 and have only recently reached my halfway mark. It sucks, but everyone assures me it will come off in my own time. It is still frustrating when I see people losing so much weight so fast. I have finally started to calm down since i have reached the halfway point. Your weight will come off too. I do believe stress and other factors play a part. I still gain 3-4 pounds the week of my period. I know its going to happen, but it still makes me crazy. Just keep on keeping on and you will get there. Good luck! -

I'm getting in on this one. I've been eating junk and im ready to get serious. My goal is ambitious, but I can do it. 188.8........188.8...........160. -
The border crossing was extremely easy. They did search the van on the way back but we got to wait inside in the air conditioning. We were picked up at the airport in San antonio and spent the night in Eagle Pass before crossing the next day. I had my surgery on 7-31-10. The surgery was done at a hospital that was equipped with an ICU. I personally would not consider having my surgery in a clinic.

Dr Alvarez was my surgeon and he was wonderful as was all of his staff. I would gladly do it again in a heartbeat. I am a physician assistant and I did alot of research. His experience and training could not be beat. I'm happy to discuss my experience with you further. You can pm me or email me at celiatoon@gmail.com

Going into Mexico...???
soon2bskinny replied to 2bslimkim's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery in Piedras Negras with Dr Alvarez. My husband went with me and was able to safely venture out. Usually he went with a guide named Jessica who was wonderful. I chose Dr Alvarez for his experience. It just could not be matched here in the states. I would do it again. I felt totally safe. -
Could use a little encouragement

Im a physician assistant and I used to work with a plastic surgeon. We operated on a lot of massive weight loss patients and everything works out better and looks better if your weight is stable for at least a year. Your body will keep changing for awhile even after you have lost all of your weight. Good luck! -
Dr Alvarez in Piedras Negras. Great surgeon, great staff and I have had no complications. Www.endobariatric.com. Message me if you have any questions.

Please talk some sense into me...

I understand your frustration completely. I had my surgery on July 31st and I've only lost 35 pounds. I really wanted to be down 50 pounds by the end of the year. I've decided that I need to go back to shakes to better track exactly how much protein/calories I am taking in. (even though I was so tired of them by the end of the post op liquid diet.) We'll see if that kick starts things. I sure hope so. Best of luck to you! -
What is everyone's favorite protein bar/food brand and what are your favorite flavors? My weight loss has been very slow to date, so I'm going back to shakes and supplements for 2 meals a day to see if that gets things going better. I've only lost 36 pounds in going on 5 months. Thanks for your help.

I had my sleeve July 31 and I know I don't need to get pregnant for at least a year, but I want to start trying as soon as my weight is stable. One of the reasons I had this done was because of infertility. Should I go back on birth control for a year? That would be most convenient, but I don't want to jepordize my fertility! Any Thoughts?
