  1. 1 years has passed since you registered at VerticalSleeveTalk! Happy 1st Anniversary On2Thin!

  2. I have been walking just around the block - maybe a quarter mile, since last week. I was sleeved on the 31st of August. It was soooo hard and I was very nautious and slow and can't walk my dog since she pulls on the leash. But ths weekend was a littler better, i am very exhausted, but feeling a little human again after surgery - so its time to start walking more. 30 Min tomorrow morning!
  3. Hi Everyone who has already been sleeved or being sleeved in September 2010! Ok - I was actually sleeved last Tuesday, August 31st, 2010, but was pretty much in a pain med induced coma for a couple days and am now starting to feel well enough (today is Sunday - so 5 days post surgery). I'm highly sensitive to the nausia associated with the pain meds - but they are very helpful those first few days. Worst part after coming home was all the gas / bloat pain in my upper gut. More even than the incisions. It just has to "run it's course" and now it's going down (or out!. I have been taking it very easy - but walking around the house and will walk to the end of my street this afternoon. I was active before surgery and know its going to be critical to keep the activity up to heal and get fit and feel better faster. I've been drinking Protein drinks purchased from my doctor. Broths with 15 grams of protein, balanced with fruity Protein Drinks and sugar free popcicles and sugar free Jello. I am head hungry - because eating has always been such a big part of my day / evening / but I am not hungry hungry. I have some very close friends and my mother who I told what I was having done, and the rest of the people who know me think i had my appendix removed. I just dont feel the need to share everything with everyone. This was a big step for me so I want to heal and be in peace with my decision. If you were just sleeved or about to be sleeved this month - write in with any information or questions and we can all help each other. On2Thin!
  4. It took less than two weeks. My doctors office said its actually better the longer it takes because that means they are really evaluating the paperwork instead of quickly rejecting. I too am trying to do it September 1st......
  5. Thank you! And great news on your surgery!!!! :)

  6. I was approved today by Cigna. I was able to show I had a BMI of between 35-40 for past couple years. But the real thing was having a 6 month history of going through a doctor supervised diet. There was no way around this. I had gone to a place called Medi Weight Loss (Phentermine is really the secret - they give you suppresents and a very low calorie diet - but once you stop taking the pills......you get your appetite back!) So they will pay out of network costs (so roughly I will pay out of pocket about 50% of the fees). Anyway - my general doctor was very supportive. She gave a letter to my surgeon's office that recommended me having the surgery. I had to follow all the paperwork to a "T" so hoping to be sleeved on September 1st (taking a trip to Italy for 2 weeks in August first!!)
  7. Hi Christie, you can tell such a difference and you look so much healthier too! Good for you! I was just approved for surgery yesterday - hope to have it Sept 1st! Can't wait!

  8. I am sure its the yo yo / weight fluxuations. It's worked for and against me in the past......to some of my smaller friends they look at me always as big I am sure.....so when i've lost a bit of weight in the past they are reluctant to say too much - as I think they can tell in my face - but maybe not elsewhere. I'm sure people noticed you looked BETTER and HEALTHIER!!!!! Whether they say it or not - I am sure they saw you radiate more than the last time they saw you. I swear I can lose 5 pounds and I feel BETTER and people smile and me more, and I think it just gives you more confidence and people respond to that. That's worth it - even if there are no comments yet. Don't worry - they are coming!!!! :001_unsure:
  9. I am preparing all my paperwork and six month history to submit to Cigna. My BMI is right around 40 (their requirement) but wasn't when I was on a medically supervised diet for 6 months. Do I have to show proof of all the times I exercised (like a fitness log)? Do I have to show proof of a food diary for 6 months too? I want to give them everything they require in the way they require it the first submission.....especially since they have only just recently started paying for Sleeve......any tips or advice on suitable documentation?
