Being a "Public Figure" should I be proactive or reactive in telling people?
Papillon replied to ImdownwithVSG's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It is up to you. I am a professional opera singer; I have decided to keep it quiet. If I decide to tell people it will be my choice at the moment. Personally, I do not think you have to tell anyone. -
Thank you for the post.. I find it really interesting how much the portion size has increased in 20 years. Our society is consumed with the idea that bigger is better.

Gastric Bypass vs. Sleeve
Papillon replied to tifbaby's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
There are a lot of posts about the lapband vs the sleeve on the forum. I have not seen as many about the bypass but from my research one of the main reasons to go for the sleeve over the bypass is the malabsorption problems. With the sleeve you do not have the same problems because nothing is changed in regard to your natural progression for digestion. The stomach is just smaller. Make sure whatever your choose is the right thing for you. Do not let the insurance pressure you. There are some people that have gone self pay and went for the sleeve because of insurance lack of coverage. I hope this helps some. Take the time to research the best option for you. -

If you have a Wii Just Dance is really fun too. It doesn't require anything extra just the wii controller. :w00t: -

Disappointment - But Not Giving Up!!
Papillon replied to WVLoser's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hang in there... it can be frustrating getting through all of the requirements if you are using insurance too. UHC required 6 months of supervised weigh ins. We also went to the info session and then you have to wait for approval (3-4weeks) and finally schedule the date. All I can say is hang in there!! It will happen and then you will be like me sitting here thinking wow.. it is really going to happen. I started this journey over 8 months ago the next chapter is on September 13th. -
Am I really doing this??
Papillon replied to Wedding Planner's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome.. and I have enough jitters for the both of us hahah. I start the 2 week lliquid diet on Monday. I am still amazed that I have finally received approval and made it through all of the requirements. Time to start a new life! -

my sister, the piece of work (funny, not a rant)
Papillon replied to Lisalu's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
hah oblivious.. lol I had a family friend that kept bugging me every Christmas about my weight.. and that I should take better care of my husband...etc etc.. the irony is that she was overweight herself. I try to be repectful of people who are my elders but in this case it was a lot harder hahaha... in retrospect maybe I should have told her to bud the hell out! -
congratulations!! Wishing you all the best!!

Woohoo!! Congrats! :biggrin0:

I'm pre-op and the negative comments worry me!
Papillon replied to sweetlover's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you for posting your answers... I really appreciate everyone's candor. This is a huge decision and I get pretty jittery. I really need to remember what it is that brought me to this decision in the first place. I am hoping for the change I need!!! :tongue_smilie: I am also willing to do the heavy lifting with the sleeve as my partner. -

Sleeved with lots of Complications
Papillon replied to momoftwo's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hang in there... take it slow. I am hoping for a quick recovery. Like chilo said ... excellent that they found the leak so quicklly and fixed it. Give your body a chance to heal and take care of yourself as you would a small child. -

Papillon replied to stephany48463's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
good for you Steph!! It is really hard... the liquid diet. I am about to start our two week one August 30th. I remember from the 7 day our doctor wanted us to do just how hard it can be. I am generally ok after the 3rd day.. but I will tell you that the smell of food can turn you into part grizzly haha.. I might have knocked over my coworker for his hotdog. ROFL.. hang in there you are doing the right thing and change will be coming! : D -

There was another person on the site (I am sorry I don't remember who) that mentioned using sugar free torani syrups to kick up their protein shakes a notch. AWESOME IDEA!! Here are a few places that are reasonable for purchasing them. Torani Syrup, & Torani Sugar Free $4.95 per 750 ml bottle Amazon has a sample pack of small bottles. http://www.amazon.com/Torani-Variety-Sugar-25-36-Ounce-Bottles/dp/B003PFUNU4/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&s=grocery&qid=1278599900&sr=8-7
