Scoot over ... Make room on the bench
Papillon replied to avilda's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Glad to hear you are both feeling good and your surgery is finished. Please keep us posted on how you are feeling and how you are doing. :biggrin0: It is wonderful to have a support network like this forum. :drool5: -
I have read several articles about Deborah Voight. She is one of the most famous opera singers in the world. She had a gastric bypass. I do not know her personally hehaha so asking her how it went is probably out of the question. If you know of anyone local I would appreciate the info. :biggrin0:

have you noticed any changes with your voice? I am an opera singer and I am starting to get more job offers. After 20 years of study, I am nervous about the effects of the surgery vocally. My surgeon has never operated on a singer. If you know of one who has can you give me their contact information?

Good luck!! I will send you healing thoughts. Please log on when you can and give us an update on how you are. -
If you care about him tell him. He will feel better knowing you are OK and not worried that your eating is a warning sign of a larger problem like anorexia... If anything it shows that he cares because he is asking you about it. : ) I hope that your relationship becomes something wonderful. I love my husband and I consider myself very lucky.. a strong relationship begins with communication and kindness. (the rest is just frosting)

I will keep you in my thoughts. Sending healing and love.

it is nice to see that something spicy is still OK.. that is one of my biggest fears. I love spicy food and don't think I could give it up entirely... :001_tongue:

Any Singers Who's had the VSG???
Papillon replied to DDUKES's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am with you on that... I have never had surgery either. -
Also talk to your bariatric surgeon's staff, they may know about your specific insurance company. Different companies cover different procedures. I do believe that MLKPas is right, you can use your flex pay for medical costs.

What are you looking forward to?

This is a really inspiring thread... thank you for putting yourselves out there... * I want to be the sexy woman on stage - (not the cart lady, older lady, mother... some of this is based on voice type hehe but I would like the director to entertain the idea of me as the sexy heroine) * I want to have my confidence back!!! * I want to go to a store like the dress barn (or somewhere nicer lol) and be able to look at the cute clothes. I hate having to walk to the other side of the store having witnessed all the sexy fun clothes to look through a sea of frumpiness. *I want to walk from building to building on campus and not feel like I am going to die before I get to the next location. *I want to be able to play with my nieces and nephew for longer than 5 minutes. *I want to book an airplane or concert ticket and not immediately regret the length of time in a small chair. -
Congratulations on all of your hard work! Thank you for sharing your story. It is very inspiring. : ) I completely understand about white clothes and hope that I can get there too. It will be a great day to walk into a store and be able to try on the cute clothes. Everything right now is on the frumpy side. : (

Any Singers Who's had the VSG???
Papillon replied to DDUKES's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am hoping that since I have not had any real problems with acid reflux it will not be worse after surgery but, it appears from some of the posts here acid reflux can be a real issue afterward. -
Don't be afraid or feel awkward contacting your doctor. He/She should be able to answer your question and alleviate your concerns about residual pain. It is always better to check, they have done the procedure many many times and know what is common.

make sure you let your surgeon know... you do not want to be fighting a cold/flu and trying to recuperate from surgery. : ( Sorry to hear that you are feeling under the weather.

Dr. Podkameni at Banner Bariatric in Mesa (480-543-2606) is very professional and easy to talk to. I have not scheduled my surgery yet but, I have been impressed with his staff and treatment. His dietician Donna has recently had the sleeve and is very easy to talk to and willing to share her experiences. Hope that helps.

I shall be operated in 12 hours from now
Papillon replied to Dimitrios's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Please share with us how you are feeling today. I am considering the VSG surgery and appreciate everyone who is willing to share details. I am lucky enough to have never needed surgery for anything before. This also makes me very antsy (to put is mildly hehe) I hope you are doing well. -
I purchased the Wii game "Just Dance" and it is a blast. All you need are the Wii controllers. There is a lot of music from the 70s,80s,and 90s...etc. The characters on screen do moves and you follow them. I have had a good time with this DVD and recommend it . The nice thing is that you are having fun while you exercise.

Help, considering surgery, scared. Need some knowledge from "friends".
Papillon commented on Bonne M's blog entry in Blog 2640
it depends on if you are using insurance to help cover the cost of your surgery. most insurance providers require 6 months of scheduled weigh-ins with your physician. You would need to talk to the doctor to verify. I was on jenny craig for over a year and that did not count.. -
