anyone get dizzy
Papillon replied to Southernlawyer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I felt really dizzy when I was on the liquid diet for a week per the surgeon's request. (I have not had surgery yet waiting on approval) It went away after a few days though. I would mention this to your doctor if it happens everytime you stand... or is persisting 4 months out. It never hurts to double check.. you may be short on a vitamin or something that he can recommend. -

Up to you... I would think having a conference before hand would give you a nice distraction from thinking about the date of the surgery hehe. -

That was what I was thinking... maybe I would not focus so much on the size of the food if I had fun making it look cute. haha -
Gonna Pimp slap the person who invented protein powders
Papillon replied to Globetrotter's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
not sure if you have tried them but the Vitamin Water (zero) drinks have nice flavors.. you can mix the (unflavored) Protein powder in them and at least you will have something with more flavor than water. Can you do Soup with all the stuff strained out? Like vegetable beef or chicken noodle? The broth would alteast have a nice taste. Good Luck!! Let me know what you find that works! Oh and if you are going to mix Protein Powder into the soup broth quick tip. (mix it into room temperature water first) Heat up the soup, Then add the protein powder and water mix. It will keep it from curdling. -

Constipation after surgery
Papillon replied to Tiggergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would also check with your nutritionist and surgeon. They may be able to recommend a laxative that would be a little easier on you. -

when you say sip... is it close to a regular sip before op? just curious on how small of a sip we are talking about. I have not had surgery yet but would like to get a heads up on the amount.

Papillon replied to stephany48463's topic in Insurance & Financing
I am with you the waiting is making me mental!!! I am hoping to schedule surgery before classes are back in session in August. -
Not sure if you like spices but egg salad is really nice with the following added: (a pinch or to taste) Garlic powder Chili powder Lemon Pepper Grey Poupon Mustard (small amout it is strong) Hope that helps some. :thumbup1: I also love my little magic bullet blender because you can puree smaller items quickly with less mess than a large blender.

Good Luck! :thumbup1: Please post about your experience when you are able. -
Great advice guys!! I also am stopping myself from making rash decisions about food. I used to think about food all the way home and drive by this restaurant and think OH I should go there.. or this one.. or or or... Now I have a plan for dinner before I leave work or even leave for work in the morning. If I know I have something I can change my behavior for the better. but Ouro is right you need to try to replace a bad habit with a good one. I am also trying to change how I FEEL about food and that is taking a lot of effort... it is worth it but, not having something on the way home should not have the power to upset me so much. I really have to focus and remember that food is nourishment. So I try to stop and ask myself.. "What do I need?" not "What do I want?" because I may want the extra piece of bread or pie but in the end do I need it?

definitely going to lock this little gem away for after surgery. Hotwings sounds amazing!! I LOVE SPICY FOOD! hehe I am really glad to see it may still be possible after surgery. That was one of my fears. hehe the spice is the life.

Aspirating food at night?
Papillon replied to JillianMarie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Call your doctor! It never hurts to check. It sounds like acid to me but I am not a medical person hehe. I am just going from experience with old diet patterns. You might also want to keep the solids earlier in the day and try having a shake before bed so your tummy has more time without solid foods. Hope it gets better soon!! Sounds like a pain to deal with. -
I want the sleeve not the rny!!
Papillon replied to erudite_diva's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try to appeal the decision... if you really want the sleeve surgery it may make a difference. It is really crazy that a procedure that is malabsorptive is covered but the sleeve isn't. Talk to your surgeon about writing an appeal if he is willing to help it will hold more weight with the committee. Good Luck!!! I am worried about the same thing.... *hug* -
Met with the RE today--not so great VERY LONG SORRY
Papillon replied to deedee's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I know that you would like to have a biological child but there are sooooo many many many children that need a loving home. If you are not able to have a child maybe you can consider opening your home to one of these children. *hug*
