    Eating out

I've only been in social situations since my sleeve 6 months ago only recently and never had any problem with it. Yes I always had leftover but I see that as a plus, one price for professionally cooked food that turns into 2 or 3 meals? I'll take it! And as for steak not translating into leftover the following day, I disagree; sliced thin in a sandwich, over greens in a salad, bathed in sauce over pasta, slivered into fajitas with cheese, and on and on! I've also ordered just the appetizer as my main meal and never had a problem from the waitstaff.

    i finally understand!!!!!

When I get an amazing song on the play list, and I'm drenched in sweat, man I can burn it up on whatever machine I'm on! Currently I'm loving freaking everything off Eminem's latest CD and I have a club remix of Madonna's Like A Prayer that never fails to take me there!! =) =)

    Just because

Tiff! You look so rockin' girl! LOVE the stripes - another thing we were forbidden to do before, right?! You know what else would also bring the sass to this outfit? a wide black leather sash belt, worn high. I think it would give a cool shape and you are so tiny you could wear a belt over a sweater, imagine that! =)

I'm sorry for your loss, there is never a good time for tragedy but to compound it with your own physical and emotional needs at this time - I hope you have a solid support network there for you, you know we are here for you too!!

    How is 1200 Calories enough?

haha lol, yeah 100 calories is a little too "Black Swan", lol. Anybody see that movie? God it was brilliant and I identified so much with her. Anyway, I'm terrified that by giving myself permission to eat more, that I will abuse that permission to allow for inclusion of junk - salty popcorn, chocolate, extra Peanut Butter, salad dressing, spaghetti! Basically, carbs! I have no control with my trigger foods, that's why they are trigger foods and if it is delicious - it is a trigger food! Quality food doesn't exist out here, so I have to rely on what the difac offers and every day I have to run the gauntlet of corn dogs, ice cream, cheeseburgers, fries, and ranch chicken nuggets to get to my plain baked chicken breasts and steamed veggies. This is why I get a bunch of them to-go once a week, and then eat lunch in my room every day. So Chilo you have heard of someone eating 1000 during the losing phase? And they still lost? Do you know what their exercise regimen was and what their starting numbers were? I would be interested to know. I miss butter. And bread. Fresh baked bread. With butter. I think I need to go dunk my head in some cold water!

how many times a day do you eat?

I weigh and track all food, I've been averaging around 800 cals a day lately. I eat breakfast, lunch, dinner, and sometimes a snack of a tbsp peanut butter. It takes me between 5-30 minutes to eat, depending on the food. 30 minutes is when for some reason the food is really filling, I eat half, take a break of 10 min, and eat the other half. The only time that my meals have stretched longer was during social occasions, but that did not lead to eating more, I still ate my portion, just dawdled to match my dining companions. I was never given orders on how long my meals must be, just as regards water consumption before and after.

So What's the Deal with Milk?

ugh barf to the muscle milk, the RTD kind anyway. Also barf to the RTD myoplex, retch! I did find a GNC whey powder that has only 4 gs carb per serving and comes in chocolate caramel so that's good. Am definitely interested in JayRobb, will look into it when I go home. The only time I consume milk is if I put it in my shake and I've stopped doing that, just from pure guilt!! It didn't negatively affect my weight loss but seeing how high it made my daily carb and cal intake, was just too much anxiety and I couldn't take it!! I tried soy, but it still had ELEVEN freakin grams of protein in an itty bitty cup. Maybe a cup of whole D full cream milk will be my once weekly treat on say, Monday mornings.

So What's the Deal with Milk?

So ... is milk like a big no no or something? I made my Protein shake this morning using a cup of whole D milk, then I input it into my online food tracker. Sure it had 11 grams of carbs but all in all I didn't see anything at all wrong with it - my daily total still didn't come above 30 grams. Here on the forum though, I keep seeing people talking about how their doctors and nutritionists pooh-pooh the drinking of milk and people seem to wag their fingers over drinking "too much" of it. So, what's the scoop?

    NSV shout outs

I really REALLY want to take ballet, a lifelong dream deferred. Is this a national chain class or just local to your town or a class at the gym?

    Parmesan Cheese Chips

Ooh, you know what I would do?!! I would make them, then when they were still warm and pliable - shape them inside mini muffin tins, then fill those parma-cups with the recipe for Ricota Bake, then shred more parm over everything and bake it all together - eeek! Delicious!!!!
  11. If there were a way to just get certain channels and not have to buy all of them, I would get cable when I return to the States. For some reason the Food Porn (aka Food Network) soothes my head hunger. Maybe it soothes the subconcious anxiety that worried I wouldn't be able to participate in beautiful food again. I am just as satisfied by watching the Food Porn as I would be by eating. Diner Drive-Ins & Dives is my favorite, Giada of course is wonderful, and I was bummed to hear that my favorite cake show Ace of Cakes was cancelled. I don't care for all the gimmicky shows and competitions (except for Iron chef) or Paula Dean. Oh I almost forgot the best for creativity and thinking - Good Eats!!

    How is 1200 Calories enough?

I just keep looking at someone like Tiffykins though, who ate 800 cals and achieved goal and beyond so quickly. Is there any sleever out there who consistently ate 1000 calories or more during the losing phase - and lost to goal??

    anybody seen Christy?

Yep, Crafty's the one! She and I came from similar numbers and it's been inspiring to see her great progress. I can't access blogs *pout* because they are not "secure".

    anybody seen Christy?

I just realized that I hadn't seen Christy around here in a long time, like 2 months at least, anybody heard from her?

    Average Weight???

Well I must admit that I was disappointed when my surgeon said our goal was 150 pounds; I am 5'3" and I remember the last time I weighed 150 pounds, I was already fat looking at 150 pounds! The numbers back it up too, 150 lbs at 5'3" is still overweight. I know that BMI charts don't give the full picture but according to it, if I want to fall within the normal spectrum for my height, I should weight 119-121 lbs. God I hope! I hope!! Yes, yes, I would be grateful for 150 pounds and I KNOW I should be grateful for every pound that takes me away from the horrible place I was in, but I can't help -hungering- for those numbers ...

    Feeling Guilty :(

Wow, those words were really beautiful, we really do need to be gentle with ourselves. =) Dawn, *shudder*, be glad you don't know what sliming is; I'm not sure if what I do is considered sliming per se but it is super painful and gross - I get a sudden stretching feeling like I'm going to pop, then suddenly my mouth starts producing way too much saliva that's thicker than normal and I spit up lots of that for quite a while, all while having really bad pain and the sincere desire to vomit, which I don't seem to be able to do. This just happened to me yesterday when I got carried away and ate too quickly 3 bites of an english muffin Breakfast sandwich filled with scrambled eggs and bacon. Mpfhh, just thinking about how much that hurt, hurts!

    Where my girls at???

I'm not even halfway to goal and I'm already down to a 38D from a 42G. I haven't heard anybody talk about augmentation without implants? I'm worried about how bad implants will look when I get old and loss of sensation. I'm also concerned that if I get boob work done, I won't be able to breast-feed, is that true? I wonder if the fat from other parts of me could be sucked out and put in my boobs instead, seriously! Right now my bra cups are full of puddled pudding-skin. blechh.

    Can I be completely honest?

I actually don't understand why so many folks talk about being cathed at all, I wasn't, my surgeon had me stop all food and drink 24 hours prior to surgery with the exception of water and Milk of Magnesia and even both of those had to be prior to 12 hrs out so nothing by mouth from 12 hrs out. I would think this would make a person have a pretty empty bladder! I also am prone to UTIs, got them pretty regular, like once a month, before a serious drug therapy.

    Just Can't Eat Today

I may have been too ambitious with breakfast this morning; 3 bites of an english muffin sandwich consisting of piled scrambled egg and bacon, about 2 tbsp and 1 piece respectively. I ate 3 bites, probably too quickly, and suffered in mega pain for like an hour afterward, including a sliming where I barely made it to the bathroom at work. Ever since all day I can't put one thing in my mouth without feeling like I just ate the Thanksgiving turkey. So at the end of the day, I'm not going to come near making my protein quota for the day, and just generally feel crummy. Suggestions? Comments?

    Just Can't Eat Today

Yeah I really couldn't eat or drink anything the rest of the day, I wonder if I had internally bruised myself? At the end of the day I could handle a little lick of ice milk but even then ... even hot tea wasn't overly welcome. The bummer/shock today though is that I stepped on the scale and I was up a pound?!! wtf.

So What's the Deal with Milk?

yeah, it's funny how topics tend to migrate! I decided against the milk, just because it makes me too anxious to drink it, I'm afraid of all the carbs. So this morning I made my shake with water, it's not as tasty that's for sure. Plus I found a GNC powder that is low carb, 4 gs. My surgeon and nutritionist both were happy to hear that I was still supplementing with protein shakes and bullets the last time we spoke which was around 4 months out.

    Rewards?

It's not just the style options I'm looking forward to, it's also physically being able to wear "real" clothes comfortably; tights without feeling like a tortured sausage, boots with room to spare in the calf, balconette and plunge bras without a flesh avalanche, belts! Tucked in shirts, layers without being drenched in sweat, cords without hearing my thighs cricket, bare thighs under a dress without chafing, and high heels without excrutiating pain and massive swelling.
