@ Lissa - you want to talk endorphin high, get a ball like a raquetball or tennis ball or lacrosse ball, lay on top of it so it fits into the soft groove around the inside of your shoulder blade, and starting with your hand down by your hip facing upward, slowly lift your arm in the air and rotate it a single unit until your arm is lying over your head, palm still facing upward. Do it for 2 minutes, which is how long it takes to break down the hardened tissues etc. and it is positively euphoria inducing! ohmygod it is amazing, we did it at the end of crossfit.

Gonna Get To Goal. Wanna Join Me?
Globetrotter replied to coops's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
If I did crossfit 3X a week I would most definitely see a difference in my body, but the yoga that I get at my gym 2X a week provides a mind/body release that I have come to depend on. Also, as the heat and humidity increase making being outdoors more unbearable, the gym allows me to run and workout in a pleasant environment. However, it would only be for 2 months possibly, that I would be paying for both, maybe I can squeeze the $$ from somewhere else ... eek! -
@ Blackberry - lucky, "only" $100 a month, here it is $130 for 10 classes! In order to make real progress I would need to do it at least 2/3X per week, that's like $150 a month! I went to the introduction WOD Tuesday, today is Thursday and I can barely walk! I'm waddling like a cowboy because the muscles in my thighs and behind are so sore! =P I coughed earlier and that hurt too, but I'm going back tomorrow =)

New fitness NSV's - My buddy and I ran for over 3 miles again, she said we were around a 5K. Also, I ran a mile by myself at the gym on the treadmill and it was no big deal, I wasn't even winded and part of it was done on incline! And my third fitness NSV - I did a crossfit class and it was awesome! I wish it wasn't so expensive or I would become an immediate devotee =)

Yeah, I'm just bummed now because it is so expensive, I would have to choose between crossfit and my gym membership, where I get yoga and machines and saunas etc. sigh. -

What has two thumbs and just did her first crossfit class? This girl! I was nervous and then all the guys were just RIPPED and drool worthy and then it turns out that the track team of a University was in the class so that was intimidating! But, I survived and it wasn't that bad, of course it was an introduction but still! Sad that it is so expensive, might not be able to do it or might have to choose between just doing that or my full service gym. But I kept up and that is an achievment for sure. =) -

Well I don't get hunger pains, it's just that I don't feel full. In the first year I never experienced hunger but I definitely felt full/satisfation/stuffed. Now I still don't feel hunger but neither do I feel satisfaction unless I eat solid pure protein, milk, and nothing else.
-
At 18 months out and 125 pounds lost, one would think I would know the answer to this but apparently I have forgotten. Can anyone help me? Right now it seems as though nothing I eat gives me total satisfaction or keeps me full for very long. I may eat something that has me feeling uncomfortably full after only 2 ounces worth, but it doesn't last, and an hour later I'm capable of eating more. Now, I know that some of it is head hunger and that is a different battle/aspect of the process, but can anyone tell me/remind me of certain foods that may provide me with a long lasting feeling of fullness and satisfaction? I'm already making sure to not eat and drink at the same time and I also wait to drink for 30 minutes after eating. I eat 5 times a day, (3 meals and 2 snacks), one every 3 hours, from 7-7.

Unfortunately for me the high was brief, It was stunning to find myself in a 12, so cool! But now I've been in a 12 for like 7 months and I'm SO OVER IT, I'm fantasizing about being a single digit size and being able to bring my knee up to my chest in yoga without my gut in the way ...

The first time I tried on a real dress, a Little Black Dress at that, it was overwhelming, I couldn't believe that was me in the mirror and I just couldn't stop staring, turning this way and that. So high! =) And like with any high, you just want more =P hello motivation! =D

Thanks Yorkie. I was sleeved nearly 2 years ago so I definitely know how to eat and eat right, all the tricks up our sleeves. My frustration is that I'm not feeling them anymore, or at least I wasn't when I started this thread. It's funny you mention milk so much, I recently discovered that if I make my protein shakes with almond milk, really well blended and ice cold, and if I drink them swiftly and steadily, that I feel super stuffed and for a long time. Something about milk I guess? Interesting. =)

Vanity, Mental, Health -- Percentages Of Each Regarding My Decision
Globetrotter replied to HondaCivicDude's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
When I was sleeved I would probably have said that it was 100% vanity, I wanted to be "normal", "fit in" be "attractive", etc. etc. I think I was in complete denial of my health, I had spent so many years defending my fatness, claiming that it had zero effect on my health but now, 125 lbs later and a regular gym goer, I can see the untruth of it. My blood pressure was high, although I wasn't on meds. I was never comfortable, ever, not even reclining in bed, and everything was difficult. Just attempting to tie my shoes or wash my hair would depress and exhaust me. So, in hindsight, it should have been at least 50-50%. I still have 40 lbs to goal though and although I really do want to get strong, these last 40 -plus eventual plastics- are all about vanity so, give it 80-20% currently. -
That's true. Did she have VSG? I wonder if she had instead made herself an advocate if VSG would have gained greater vis. sooner ... I would've had it years ago.

Sadly enough when famous people do get WLS, and are successful with it, they get torn to shreds. Look at Star Jones.

When Did It Hit You?
Globetrotter replied to Condessa's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I am 21 months out, 125 pounds down, 40 to go. It still hasn't hit me, I still don't *know* that I'll be/that I am successful. -
Do you have to run or can you walk periodically? It would be an achievment for me just to finish! =)

Gonna Get To Goal. Wanna Join Me?
Globetrotter replied to coops's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@ Coops - yaaay! It is such an incredible feeling isn't it! Such ... freedom, physically, emotionally, dare I say spiritually even! Knowing that I can move so swiftly and that there is no reason not to, nobody is going to tell me no I can't, and I physically CAN. It's awesome. Hey has anybody here tried eating Vietnamese/Thai style spring rolls? They are incredible, fresh crunchy greens, a variety of sauces, and a pleasantly springy wrapper with a great chew. Yum! You usually get two for an appetizer which is a perfect size sleever's meal. =) -
Has anyone heard of being a non-responder? Apparently 1 in 6 individuals show little to no effects from exercise. I mean, they feel good obviously and get stronger but do not show any marked change in weight loss or body composition. Has anybody heard of this and is there any way to counteract it? I'm afraid I might be one, it would explain so much, like how I can put in 7 hours of hard gym time per week doing a wide variety of activities for 6 months and yet see no change in weight nor significant gains in ability or strength. =(

What Types Of Clothes Got You Through The Rapid Weight Loss?
Globetrotter replied to BKMama's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Well, because of how much you can weigh with each size in plus sizes, you will probably be in your pre-op clothes for the first 50 lbs post-op, at least. After that you really won't go down in sizes rapidly even as you lose crazy weight, again because of how much each pluz size lets you weigh. However, every body is different and the best way to deal with this and not spend a fortune is thrift stores. It has become a fun pasttime for me to hit Goodwill and others and hunt for clothes, now that I am in a 12, the most common size in the US, there is SO much to choose from and once you have bought a luxury clothing item that costs $100 new for only $5, you will be hooked! =P -
B - serving frosted mini wheats L - serving bacon, 2 oz tuna salad with romaine hearts. S - Protein shot D - more tuna

Gained 30 Pounds 3 Years Out
Globetrotter replied to steve411's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Exactly what CC said, you know what you are doing wrong, you came here knowing this was a resource for help, you know how to fix it. I would say that almost the very first thing you should do, besides throwing away all your carbs, is to open a yellow pages and find a therapist IMMEDIATELY. We wouldn't perform our own VSG's and there are professionals out there to help us with our heads, which control everything else. Do you think you could do a 5 day pouch reset? I'd recommend it. -

Crying Inwardly, Can't Believe He Said This!
Globetrotter replied to thinoneday's topic in Rants & Raves
Print out Queen of Crop's post and memorize it! She nailed it. And I am going to take a tac here that may get me flamed but ... Listen to allllll these ladies here (hmm no men I noticed) making alllllll these excuses for men. Oh they are men, the need special consideration for being stupid! Oh, they are limited, it's not their fault! Oh that's just how they are, beef headed and insensitive! f**k. that. ****. (excuse me) We get what we tolerate, as someone on VST once said. Men hold posts as diplomats, politicians, lawyers, therapists, bomb-diffusion experts - don't tell me they don't know how to be thoughtful, have foresight, use their words. But they are also infamous for taking advantage of our pity and sympathies and are notoriously lazy. Also, you've been married for 34 years? So, this guy should know you a little bit, yeah? And vice versa? He knows what buttons to push, he knows how to hurt you. Step back and assess the situation, he had to have known how comments like that would affect you, so in a sense, he did it "on purpose". Now, it could genuinely have been subconscious, but still. So what is going on in his life, that he feels the need to make himself feel better by hurting you? Is this typically how he expresses his anxiety, by making bald statements to get you to react, so that you have the emotions for the both of you? Where you aware of the 10 pounds before he said something? Where you already fretting over them? Lastly, as we all know, 85% of this journey is in the head and just like we wouldn't perform our own VSG's, there are professionals out there to help us with our heads and they are crucial members of our village. Thin - I believe in you, you have been here for my entire journey, we've all got your back.
