Normal To Feel Nauseous After First Workout?
Globetrotter replied to xo_rana's topic in Fitness & Exercise
If you are nauseated after working out you are dehydrated. -
21 Months Post Op Today
Globetrotter replied to sleeve 4 me's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
So what are you eating these days? I'm 2 months "older" than you, approaching my 2 yr sleeviversary, and I am STILL 40 lbs from goal =(. -
Official Ongoing Gastric Sleeve Maintenance Thread
Globetrotter replied to Oregondaisy's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
It is so cool to see all these old school names from two years ago when I first joined and was about to be sleeved, OregonDaisy, MiniMe! It is depressing though that I am coming up on my 2 year surgiversary and I have yet to even get to surgeon's goal, truly depressing =(. I exercise consistently 3-6x per week, cardio and resistance, and have done so ever since surgery yet I am still fat. 5'3" 173. I got down to 164 around New Year's due to some major gallbladder attacks and then have regained since. I am so sad to not have achieved goal yet. I exercise constantly and eat between 800-1200 calories a day. I take a PPI, I take a multivit. I keep my carbs below 50 and sugars below 20. =( =( =( -
If it is available to you, hugs and kisses! Seriously, physical contact releases calming chemicals into the bloodstream and a good hug, platonic or otherwise, or some nice kissing really helps! And even if there are no candidates around for either of these, hug a teddybear or put a few drops of essential oils on a hot wet washcloth and press it to your face as you inhale slowly. =)

Click Protein Powder?
Globetrotter replied to starsleeve's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
There is a Natural Foods here, whose parent company is Vitamin Shoppe, and they do carry a variety of powders but not Click unfortunately. I know it is irrational but I just prefer to make my purchases in a store when I can, rather than online. Same goes for those Quest protein bars Eggface is always raving about, I can only find them online. -
P90X? Mixed Martial Arts? Too Intense?
Globetrotter replied to sirensiren's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I do Crossfit 3x a week and it is bru-tal, but awesome! The 2nd day after a workout is the most painful, and that's the day I'm doing it again, so I'm continuously sore but in a good way It is SO satisfying to strain and sweat and gasp and feel my muscles burn now, because it is earned authentically, and not felt merely because I stood up from a chair or tried to walk up a flight of stairs =(. At last night's Crossfit I flipped tractor tired end over end, squatted endlessly with a barbell across my shoulders, did cartwheels, did handstands, and even attempted a one-handed handstand. At my heaviest it was a workout just getting strapped into an airplane seat =) -
Click Protein Powder?
Globetrotter replied to starsleeve's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I love my Click! I never use it as my sole source of protein in a protein shake though, since it only has 15 grams of protein per serving and a serving is TWO scoops. If I did a full 2 scoops I would be bouncing off the walls from all that caffeine! Usually I make a chocolate protein shake and then do half of one scoop of Click to give my shake a more adult complext flavor rather than the flat chocolate. Haven't tried the Vanilla Latte flavor yet, just wish Click was easier to find, I can only purchase it online from one or two vendors, the only time I found it in a store was one special GNC in downtown San Francisco. -
This inspired me to look up other loaf recipes, I found a recipe for meatloaf topped with sriracha glazed bacon, so I subbed turkey for ground beef and made them in a muffin tin, voila! tiny yummy protein packages!

Gonna Get To Goal. Wanna Join Me?
Globetrotter replied to coops's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Absolutely Coops, just put pen to paper and write whatever comes into your head, at first it may just be a baby babble of words or phrases but it will eventual coalesce into thoughts and opinions and emotions. I'm going through some stuff right now too, have had a pretty bad 2 weeks of it, so I really need to do some writing this weekend. I'm a huge advocate for talk therapy, this is a person whose profession and whose sole purpose is listening! Everyone could benefit from that. -
I have started eating cheeseburger salads and they are a revelation! When I really need that fix of juicy mooing cow goodness and miss the flavor profile of a good cheeseburger, I get this from a whimsical burger place in town but it is totally makeable at home. Any greens you like, a patty's worth of any kind of protein - the restaurant offers everything from elk to veggie burger - pickles, onions, mayo-mustard dressing, and tomatoes. It is delicious and satisfies the craving for that special burger combo of juicy hot meat meets cold crunchy vegetables, yay!

Gonna Get To Goal. Wanna Join Me?
Globetrotter replied to coops's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Love across the pond Coops!! I really think that your exhaustion, weight stalls and gains, even a small portion of your back pain, are ripple effect impacts from the death of your student. Our minds and feelings have an incredible impact on our bodies, and vice versa, none of our parts exist in a vacuum. Have you considered seeing a counselor regularly? And I would have told that STUPID STROPPY COW that the only reason she wasn't getting punched in the effing face was because she wasn't worth the trouble!! -
Gonna Get To Goal. Wanna Join Me?
Globetrotter replied to coops's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm still here, but I had the flu for a week and was laid low, I took to my bed for about four days of to-the-bone exhaustion but am feeling loads better now. Getting back to crossfit is going to hurt no doubt, but I'm kinda looking forward to it BTW, don't know how sick any of you have been since getting sleeved but this was the straight up legit no-foolin' influenza FLU and let me tell ya, it is a whole different ball of wax getting sick after the sleeve! Whatever "appetite" I claim to have utterly disappeared and it was all I could do to force a single protein shot down my throat as my "meal" for an entire day and that no doubt made it worse. -
I have glasses for astigmatism, that are so light people regularly think I'm wearing them for cosmetic reasons with just glass in the lenses! I only need them when my eyes are very tired after a long day of computer/book work. Then suddenly around March I noticed one of my eyes doesn't seem to be a strong as the other, that I am favoring one side of my head and turning toward things like a bird and that my glasses don't really help and I have headaches. I need to see an optometrist. But, what on earth about rapid massive weight loss could affect vision?!?!?!?!!

How are all you July sleeevers doing?
Globetrotter replied to Ihave6kids's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I wonder if there is something about us Sumer of 2010 sleevers that has made us all super slow losers. I will have my 2 yr surgiversary on 14 July 2012 which is only 2 months away and I am 20 lbs away from surgeon's goal, 40 lbs from personal. -
Seriously Im Outta Control! This Might Be Tmi
Globetrotter replied to blackanese25's topic in The Gals' Room
Well it wears off, that's for sure. I was like this from about month 3 post-op to month 10. I am now 20 months post op and just about nothing genuinely turns me on =( -
I have a full coverage bra in a 36DD and it fully covers, no quadra boob or bubbling! And the band could definitely be more snug, I have a few bras in 34, but I started this journey in an overflowing uncomfortable 44G and I'm wondering if after all is said and done and maybe some plastics, if I might get as small as a 34C!

For the first time in my life I ran outside in the real world, with the intention of running, and with a running buddy! It was amazing, we really ran, this wasn't just some slow walking, we kept up a steady jog pace up and down grades AND talked! I felt great and the only part of me to conk out were my lungs and throat which felt like they were sucking ice shards, otherwise I felt good. And ... we did 2.75 miles!!!! The most I've done alone on a tread was 1.5!!!! My running buddy is a former personal trainer and is in excellent shape and she said that I did really well. yay

Thanx for trying to see the hopeful Lissa but sadly I just finished TOM (yes I'm female lol) and so should be at my least water-retaining. My pants are just that mere suggestion of too snug that isn't visible to others but that I can feel. Also, in photographs my cheekbones and jawline are just a suggestion of a shadow fuller than they were, something only my eye would see, but all of this is confirmation (to me) that the horror on the scale is in fact real gain =,C =,C. This makes me very very sad. In the first part of January I got within 14 lbs of surgeon's goal, and it was a modest goal! Now I am 23 lbs away from surgeon's goal - I'm still effing huge and fat and it's just not EFFING FAIR.

The good news: I lifted, pushed and flipped an enormous big-rig tire end over end down a field! And I'm swinging kettle bells and doing this thing called a Turkish Get-Up. The bad news: I got on the scale 2 days ago and I am NEARLY NINE POUNDS up from my all time low achieved in early January. I am devastated. 2 or 3 pounds can be explained away by our "bounce" range, but not 9 pounds, that's real gain. Since the old lie about muscle weighing more than fat we used to tell ourselves is just a myth, I am devastated. I average between 700-1100 calories, depending on how much I work out, keep my carbs lower than 40, take my Vitamins and work out 5 days a week. IT'S NOT EFFING FAIR.

Crossfit update: I have had 6 classes so far, they are Mon-Wed-Fri from 8-9pm. Friday we practiced squat thrusts with medicine balls; one on the floor between you legs, the other held in your hands. We squatted down keeping shins vertical until our bottoms touched the ball, then stood up with enough momentum to throw the other ball in the air high enough to hit a certain point on the wall. We did a LOT of these. Also, sumo squats with the ball and slanted pull ups on the rings, feet resting on the ground. The bad news: I got on the scale 2 days ago and I am NEARLY NINE POUNDS up from my all time low achieved in early January. I am devastated. 2 or 3 pounds can be explained away by our "bounce" range, but not 9 pounds, that's real gain. It's funny, I used to go out of my way to make sure that the top of my breasts were smooth with the bra cup, no bubbling out or "quadra boob". Now I have 2 bras that I purposely bought small (DD) so that I get the quadra boob effect - it is the only way to make them look juicy! =P

DeaKay - Running outside IS more difficult than the treadmill, and it's not because you are doing something incorrectly! When we run in an uncontrolled environment we are using every party of our bodies, including our minds, to negotiate and navigate the terrain so it is definitely more taxing. That said, I was told by an experienced runner that 180 steps per minute is a best practice golden standard for running. You want a nice loose canter, so that you are sort of prancing along, with your arms bent at the elbow, loose fists bouncing in front of your ribcage. The next time you run take a stop watch or your wristwatch and cound how many pairs of steps you take in a minute of jogging, adjust your gait until you have 90 pairs. For me, the most difficult part of all of this has been the breathing, my throat and lungs give out on me long before my muscles do! I still need help in breath regulating. Hope this helps you!

more in the fitness NSV category! I started crossfit last week and am learning how to "lift" - I dead lifted 100 pounds last week and am learning how to "clean jerk" this week, eventually my goal is to be able to do a real pull up - so far I am just hanging from the bar with my knees up but it's a start!

Went to my third crossfit class last night, am in excruciating pain but am also thoroughly satisfied. It was effing DIFFICULT and I was capable! I learned how to jump rope "singles", like you see boxers do, I did burpees - throw you body onto the ground into a push up, pop into a squat position and then jump up and clap and then do it all over again. And, for the first time since I was 12, did a handstand! That was a true moment of realization for me - I could do a handstand and I did not crumple beneath my weight, in fact I did several! I could not have done so 2 years ago. At the end of the work out we took weight bars and laid them across the tops of our thigh muscles and slowly rolled them down the muscle. %&*#!! blindingly painful, but good. I was so sore from Monday's crossfit I didn't think I could do last night's but I did, and I'm going back Friday! -
Anyone Wanna Do A 7-Day Paleo Challenge With Me?
Globetrotter replied to BlackBerryJuice's topic in Food and Nutrition
Almond milk in my protein shake, scrambled eggs, an angus beef patty, spinach, and peanuts were my foods yesterday, felt fine. Today the same minus the peanuts but plus some hummus, which is just ground up chickpeas and lemon juice and OO. Total calories today less than 800.
