I'm doing this, except it is not for 5 days, and it is in the form of 5:2 and also is for reasons not having anything to do with weight loss. But not the peanut butter, can't eat that, too much saturated fat.
-
Yeah, I'm excited about it too, but I also have read that it is high in saturated fats. How does one use it for scars and hair loss? Is it good for digestion? How?

How was your 5:2 day today?
Globetrotter replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yeah, I'm going to attempt to get a thread going over in food and nutrition, dedicated to coconut oil, the whats, how's and whys -
I did the drops, but oooweee, it was sweet. I'm sure I'll figure out a balance. What I'm worried about now is the way it skyrockets my carb count I'm not exercising right now (bad cold) so can't afford the carbs.

I don't have access to Amazon.

I have those dasani water lemonade flavor drops that you sent me, will those work? Also, do you know about managing the texture, will making it with hot water help?

off topic, but I really want your opinions
Globetrotter replied to CowgirlJane's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I absolutely want bat-wing surgery, maybe even more than the rest. There is something about the arms that can make a person look fat even when they aren't anymore. Have you ever looked at Oprah? When she is in her average size, if you mentally edited out her arms, she would look pretty fit, but those arms deny all the hard work. So, I'm on board. Definitely find an arm specialist but any scars would be a worthwhile tradeoff to me, imo. -

Dealing with sickness, comforting self with food
Globetrotter replied to lilac lass's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Well, if you aren't already seeing a therapist who specializes in food issues, do so. Also, since you are aware of your behavior, you can take steps to modify it, you know you are a comfort eater, so eat, just eat differently. Are you a cruncher? A chewer? A sipper? Since your sick, maybe go back on the mushies phase diet, beef broths, ricotta bake, etc. that way you are still comforting yourself, making healthy choices, and taking care of your illness to boot. good luck -

Hi my lovelies! @ FYE - I do not get to go to the market anymore, not that I did before, but now it is a definite no-go. @Oregon - I get all my good stuff by begging for care packages , the superfood powder and flaxseed I sent to myself when I was home on R&R. Seaweed is something I need to add, not sure how to get that sent ... @Chimera - ahh. Can't do Wellbutrin as it gives me a being-choked-by-the-Hulk feeling. Stopped the Buspar as it gave me excrutiating diarrhea. The Clonozepam is for sleeping but it isn't working, took one last night and just never dropped off. @Cowgirl - that IS interesting, her reaction ... she must be in so much soul pain, bless her heart. If anyone can figure out a way to make green powder better, I'm all ears, this stuff is a punishment. Florinda's wish list: low sodium low cal jerkies (do they exist?) boneless sardines chia seeds/hemp seeds/flax seed mixes seaweed products a tape measure Zac Efron herbal detoxifying teas low-glycemic anything Channning Tatum

How was your 5:2 day today?

HELLO MY PEEPS!!!!! I am back from my sojourn into Germany. I just opened this thread for the first time in nearly 3 weweks, egad, there were like 10 pages to wade through! But I got to see the comments of concern for me and that really warmed my heart, thank you guys. So, an update: I went to Landstuhl, which is a military hospital in Germany. I went there nominally to get a hernia repaired but really to get tested for a neurological disorder. Turns out I don't have a hernia (wtf), which I guess is good except that this leaves me with the mystery pain I had in the first place, and no answers. Whatever I eat, be it a shake or a crunchy apple, once the food hits a certain point in my intestines, to the immediate right of my belly button, I get pain, real discomfort. This is every single time I eat, every time. Then when I have a BM, it is constipation, immediately (like 10 mins later) followed by diarrhea, every time. The Dr said maybe I have IBS, and left it at that. geethanx. A CT scan of my belly, an ultrasound, an upper AND lower endoscopy, all showed nothing, though during the colonoscopy (ughh) he found polyps and took samples so I will hear on those in a few weeks. During my thorax CT the neurologist found a cyst on my lung (wtf) and said it may be congenital ... it may not, we'll have to wait and see in 6 months. wtf? I'll just add that to my near-biblical list of misfortunes. Saw a therapist while there, amazing, wish I coulda brought him back with me. They put me on Zoloft, it's been about a week and a half, not sure if I notice any effects yet, though I have the libido of a turnip ... Got to do a bit of sightseeing, the hospital chaplain organizes trips for the Wounded Warriors, all costs covered and we get to be away from the hospital and just see regular life. I went to Mainze and Saarbrucken, Saarbrucken had this fantastic store called Primark with some great deals - I got a fleece lined hooded cableknit sweater with wooden toggles and leather ankle boots for 20 euro! I had commercial internet there, which I don't have here (gov't computer doesn't let me see everything) so I had access to Youtube and blogs so I did a lot of research and discovered Dr. Terry Wahls and the Wahls Protocol, which has prompted the massive overhaul in my diet that I have mentioned on other threads. Anti-inflammatory is the name of the game now, massive amounts of Omega3s, fiber, lean Protein, and among other things, seaweed. It is unbelievably difficult to eat healthfully out here, and to get protein while avoiding red meat since we almost never get chicken. So that is, believe it or not, the short version. I am not getting paid but still getting bombed at/shot at/exploded at. -

Gonna Get To Goal. Wanna Join Me?
Globetrotter replied to coops's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I just started my new anti-inflammatory regimen 2 days ago, too soon to tell for results, but I am super excited. Every day now I put flaxseed in my protein shake, take a slew of vitamins including B and Omega3, make a superfood probiotic green drink powder concoction, eat about 3 cups of leafy greens and colorful veggies, and eat 1 or 2 servings of sardines or tuna. Plus I'm drinking green tea even though it is DISGUSTING :/ ... My downfall is the night nibbling, I just can't seem to stop myself, even when I know it is wrong and I feel terrible about myself and don't even want to eat, yet still find myself doing it All this new fiber in my diet is also adding carbs so I can't have saltines with my sardines And kicking the chocolate habit is really effing difficult and not something I have achieved as of yet :/ -
I bought Green Vibrance while home on R&R and made it with water in my blender ball shaker and .... GLLLEARRRRKKUGH!!!! That taste goes against the Geneva Convention I don't have access to coconut water, or good juices that aren't pure sugar so, any ideas on how to make it palateable? And also, the texture, so grainy, if I mix it with hot water will it blend better?

Rating protein powders
Globetrotter replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
@ jrsmanatee - you want protein shakes, not meal replacements, those are for people who need the calories, not necessarily the protein. Protein shakes are specifically high protein, low carb, and reasonably low calorie. -
@ Chimera, Buproprion, also known as buspar? I was on that and had to get off, it gave me unending excruciating diarrhea and also did not help, it just made me an emotionless robot. So far the Zoloft seems to be helping although I'm about as sexual as a turnip :/ Steroids are also considered a first response for my DX but I will not do them, the toll far outstrips the benefits. Yesterday was a feed day and I had a mocha protein shake w/ flaxseed, all my vitamins, some green tea, and my probiotic caps. I had a humongous salad of dark greens, at least 3-4 loose cups worth, over the course of the afternoon, and for dinner I had some sardines packed in olive oil. I was pretty proud of myself, until ... we had to go out to a friends' going away party and I had a piece of naan with honey and feta, then later for reasons I cannot explain I ate a small ice cream bar v_v very sad. But I'll try again today, have already had my shake with flaxseed, am about to have my vitamins and tea, then will go load up on my greens. Brought a cold back with me from Germany so not hitting the gym yet.

You GUYZ!!! Did you not check out the link I posted? It is made from baked coconut and my raw(ish) vegan friends who used to be mega carnivores, say it is amazing!

Well, I wouldn't say I'm in the pink, maybe just in a positive headspace today because of my Zoloft, dealing with my diagnosis is a continuous trauma that just has to be dealt with. I am approaching this from the connection of neurological disorders as a result of autoimmune disease as a result of Leaky Gut and other GI issues. It will be most difficult to kick my chocolate habit and I LOATHE green tea, bleechhh.
