How was your 5:2 day today?

Massive international world-girdling group hug on three, 1, 2, 3 .......*squeeeeeze*. Fast day - green drink, flaxseed, you know the drill... Most of my team is sick right now so I made some soup in my electric water kettle, organic grass fed beef broth, carrots mushrooms cabbage and a little V8. It turned out pretty dang good I must say and felt very nourishing. Due to my intestinal issues I have had only 2 decent BMs since Friday, so I've decided to not weight myself until that gets sorted, otherwise I'm just setting myself up for psychological torture, seeing bloat numbers. Has anyone else noticed that the less they eat, the less hunger they feel? In fact, the less I eat, the less I want to eat at all, thinking of food or smelling it makes me queasy.

    Adventures in shapers

I was just going to post about bodyshapers; I have a lower belly flab issue, VERY lower belly, and I have yet to find the shaper that gets rid of the panni. I'm not expecting for fabric to give me a board flat stomach but at least it should be able to keep my gut skin from the worst case of front-butt! Even with a shaper I have to keep my pants loose and my shirt hems long to keep people from staring. So my question is, does anyone know of some serious nuclear strength shapewear for the lower gut/panni? I've even looked on post-partum online stores.

random musings from a really bored woman...lol

HAHAalolol, this thread is hilarious, love the random! Jane you sound like you have a serious case of cabin fever! How much longer are you there for? Do you have a Stateside doctor that will do your follow up care? It was just crisp enough this morning to wear a pashmina that I bought here, a beautiful shade of rose with green paisleys. I have only had 1 bm since Friday, this doesn't feel great and is also keeping me from enjoying the scale :/ If I were in the States right now, living my dream of owning a cafe/book shop/philosophy salon/community living room, I would be serving a hot quinoa porridge for breakfast, gluten free doughnuts, pumpkin spice lattes, london fogs, Mexican hot chocolate. I would open the doors for the day with some Billy Holiday playing and a fire going in the fireplace. I would wear a fisherman's sweater and bamboo fabric leggings with sturdy boots, my hair held back under a kercheif. How's that for random?

How was your 5:2 day today?

regarding Eggface's treats, I have made her pumpkin protein mini muffins with the vanilla glazed pepitas sprinkled on top and filled with sweetened ricotta. I made them for Thanksgiving last year and they were a smash hit with everyone, all non-ops. The fact that she (Eggface) takes the time to figure out how we can join in and not feel left out with treats, and that she spends the time to make sure that they are visually delicious, is just great. She has protein doughnuts, muffins, truffles, ice cream, cakes, and they are beautiful! The trick is in her ingredients, her substitutions, and the serving size, the mini muffins and doughnuts could fit on a silver dollar. The one and only drawback to (all) of her recipes, that just isn't for me, is the fact that she uses a LOT of fake or processed or pre-packaged foods. Since I am now dealing with auto-immune stuff I have become investigative about these things and am concerned about the chemicals used in SF foods, among other things. So, I go here for a much healthier version of Starbuck's famous Pumpkin Spice Latte ... http://www.foodiefiasco.com/?s=pumpkin And sometimes when life gets sucky out here, at night I close my eyes and picture myself back home, in a coffee shop, with my sneaky healthy treats and ^latte. I picture my outfit, hair, everything. Fast day today and for some reason I am feeling it, could that be because of ovulation? A gallon of hot green tea (blechh), a glass of green drink, a protein shake, a multi-colored salad with sardines.
  8. At first I felt like the clever girl, eating an OhYeah! protein bar in caramel peanut something or other. Only to discover that each bar has like, 30g carbs!!!! I should have known, it was just too delicious it put my Quest bars to shame.

This is totally random but when I get back to the States I look forward to recreating Eggface's beautiful little high protein low carb treats and iced protein coffee, I'm going to take them to Starbucks and make everyone curious and want them

    Low calorie and emotional equilibrium

I'm painting a LOT, churning out at least one every two days, it keeps me from food tunnel vision and nibbling.
  14. I'm currently doing some low calorie experimenting and have found my emotions are right at the surface. This could just be a coincidence, but I think I've noticed it before in previous low cal stints, I'm crying, laughing, and angry at the slightest provocation. Anyone else notice a change in their emotions when they drastically change their diet?

How was your 5:2 day today?

OD, switch to OKCupid, PoF has a lesser quality of men, in my experience. A fast day today, again with the greens, the vitamins, the tea, blechhh. The weather is turning now, I'm able to enjoy hot tea and wearing a pashmina in the mornings and I can actually sleep under my blanket all night now.

Why do OhYeah! protein bars have to be so effing delicious

Victory bar? Never heard of them, maybe I can get someone to send me some (I'm in Afghanistan). That OhYeah bar was so effing delicious, it even put a Snickers to shame and I could have eaten 3 of them. I have several boxes of Quest bars but they are too high carb for me, I try to stay away from anything that has double digit carbs so I only eat them when I am out on mission.

    anybody own a vitamix substitute?

Ooh!! If it (Vitamix) lasts 10 years under warranty, and you use it just about daily, you are paying about a dollar a day to own it, if I have the price correct. Considering how it can be utilized in your life, that's a well spent dollar!

Coops, been meaning to ask, it's been a few months now and I'm curious about your healing progress, post- plastics. Swelling, skin elasticity, scars, changes in body composition, I'm curious about it all!

    Magnesium and muscle growth

You are supposed to be getting 38g fiber a day, as a man, it's not just about BMs, it's about maintaining a healthy gut and preventing autoimmine, neurological and GI disorders. Sorry, I've recently become something of a crusader for this issue

What about all the leftover fiberous pulp? If you are juicing all that stuff has to go somewhere ...
