Two weeks from Plastics - progress so far
Globetrotter replied to CowgirlJane's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Jane you've got a body most American women 15 years younger than you don't have - and want! What airport in Mexico did you use? Could a person drive there from San Diego CA? Have you experienced constipation? I don't remember, you didn't get implants, did you? -
Rating protein powders
Globetrotter replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Never heard of it Brandy, sounds great! I just started using True Athlete and it is the BEST Protein powder I HAVE HAD IN THREE YEARS as a sleever! I got the vanilla and it is filling, rich, no additives, awesome! -
How was your 5:2 day today?
Globetrotter replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
woohoo, we are back! The only problem I have left is that replies to this thread to not show up in my notifications, which is mildly irritating. thank you Brown for the support, I have been having some weakness lately that is frightening but not more frightening than the spacey airheadedness that goes along with it. I recently started taking an MS drug and that was hugely emotional for me. I agree with Jane OD, I think there might be a little dismorphia going on there. I also see a similarity in your and Jane's mourning for relationships that you know are bad for you. Were these men a replacement for the food? Crossover addiction? I'm taking a time out from all things food related today, I've been having serious constipation so I am eating all fiberous fruits today and drinking green drink etc. to get things uh, moovin and groovin! -

I appear to no longer have an inbox at all, no icon anywhere. I also can't PM, it tells me I don't have permission for that! As for the pomegranates I forgot to address - There are many methods for peeling and eating poms, I slice through the outer skin all the way around starting at the crown. Then I stick my fingers in and crack it open like a coconut, then I start to remove the arils (seeds). I don't eat the pith, the white flesh or membranes, pom seeds are beautiful in the fruit, like little pyramids of rubies and the flavor is uniquely pomegranate, tart, bitter, sweet, fiberous, juicy. They have been a part of my life always and I have very good autumnal family memories associated with them <3 -
Fiber, Soluble Vs Insoluble - Game Changer!
Globetrotter replied to Globetrotter's topic in Food and Nutrition
Both are important - soluble for short term profits, insoluble for long term. -

Now the button in the top right corner that shows a little envelope indicating your messages, is gone. So I guess I have no messaging capacity now? gah. Yesterday was a fast day, I love how salad greens are still sticker foods for me, making me feel full for a really long time. Cheri - I have had shingles, it sucks!! Perhaps you could try going on an autoimmune protocol for a few weeks? OD - I'm glad to see that you made a list of why you shouldn't be with that guy, post it where you can see it, bathroom mirror, fridge! -

I was able to get into a thread finally and it was worth the effort - here is a link...http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/287666-you-may-be-more-successful-than-you-think/page-7#entry3240558 Gamergirl started it and it just blew my mind - this formula gives you percent total excess weight lost and she is so right, it lets you see that you are way more successful than you think! Just today I was being self-loathing, sick of being the fat girl which I still am even after 118 pounds lost. Then I did this formula and discovered that I am at seventy-two percent excess weight lost!! That's significant!! I can also vividly remember fantasizing about what it would be like to even lose the initial 50 pounds, how grand that sounded, and now here I am with only 46 pounds to go until goal! This is all very positive and I felt like we could use it . -
You May Be More Successful Than You Think....
Globetrotter replied to gamergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Holy eff - I'm at 72%, help me understand, is that as awesome as I think it is? I am at 72% excess weight lost? wow, thank you, you just really really improved my mood. -
Band food compared to sleeve food
Globetrotter replied to steveelea's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yup to what MystyJ said, some foods are stickers, some are sliders, and you never know which will be which for you personally until you are a sleever. For me at 3+ yrs out, if I want to get really full and stay full (so as to keep myself from snacking or making a bad choice) I eat the dense Protein or dark leafy greens. Depending on the "mood" of my sleeve, a few mouthfuls of salad will have me Thanksgiving stuffed for hours. I avoid potato anything as I feel so terrible afterward, like I'm about to explode. Also depending on Sleeves' mood are the eggs, sometimes they are yummy and slide right down and are an awesome protein, other times ... one bite, one sniff, and it's game over. The danger I guess for sleevers is eating around your sleeve - ignoring the new physical cues you get when you should stop (drippy nose, sneezing, hiccups) or eating too quickly. I have no hunger sensations anymore which is awesome and difficult at the same time - awesome because, yay, no hunger! But difficult because it lets you listen to your head hunger instead, which is awful. Head hunger has nothing to do with the needs of your body and it is deeply psychological. but when I said I feel no physical hunger, I meant it. It is almost 2pm and I just ate for the first time today an hour ago. I was perfectly content with hot herbal tea all morning. Just now I had about 2.5 oz of lamb, and about 1 oz of beef so I am nicely full of strong protein, and my "brunch" was 2TBSP of chocolate chia seeds in hot Water with melted coconut oil. dinner will probably be some kind of salad, bringing my cals to around 600 for the day. -

As I was about to write, our interpreter came in with a gift for me, a pair of pomegranates! Pomegranates are my most favorite thing in the world! So, that was my good thing for today I had Ruth's Chia Goodness-chocolate with a tsp of coconut oil, hot for breakfast, amazingly healthy and tasty! I would love to get a private 5:2 group going, at least until Alex cleans up this mess. I am having an exacerbation today, don't know what triggered it, stress probably. Took an MS drug last night for the first time, emotionally very very upsetting. Painting has been very therapeutic, my Father passed away last Christmas so there is a lot of emotion headed my way, I painted a family portrait for my Mom and sent it off in the mail yesterday, hope it gets there by Christmas. Painting my Father, was like touching him again, he was an artist professionally and this felt intimate and good. -
say what now?!! Who makes it? Is it really a super-sucker-in garment or just snug long johns?

I was actually able to get into this thread, holy moly that took some maneuvering! CGJane, as the creator of this thread maybe it's time to change its name to a month out, progress! I have forgotten, who was your doctor? Where did you fly into? -
I'm not exercising at all unless you count the occasional donning of body armor and the 10 trips a day I make to the latrine, which is far away and probably adds up to a mile. I want to lift weights and do compound exercises but don't know what is stopping me.

oh and PS, I get almost no notifications, and the ones that I do, I click on it and instead of taking me to the thread, it just takes me to the new VS Forum homepage so I have no way to get to the thread. Some of you have said that you are listed as LapBand. how do you know? I went to my profile and saw nothing, not lap nor VSG. -

okay so whatever technical stuff they have done to VST, it now comes up as personal pages and so gets blocked. I cannot go into any threads, and the only reason I can get into this one thread is by clicking on someone elses post that is listed on the lefthand side of 5:2 home. So I have basically been robbed of my VST, which has been my biggest and most important support network out here. Had some AMAZING olives last night, my Mom sent them, Cat Cora's Kitchen by Gaea snack pack, green pitted olives with oregano and lemon. So incredible! Only 15 calories for 4 big olives! I had 8 and still came in at under 600 cals. However, right after eating them, I got a crashing headache that lingered until after bedtime. The salt? This brand is very clean, no additives. Oh and by the way, I can't even click on that banner for if there are technical problems, it's blocked. It's going to be difficult without VST. -
I just got a new Protein powder, True Athlete Natural whey Protein Powder in vanilla. Anyone ever tried it?

Although there were at least ten responses since my last post, I had zero notifications, none. No happy little red square with numbers in it. Also, I can sometimes go to a page, a thread, etc. and sometimes I can't - I get the big CENTCOM BLOCKED thing that usually only comes up if I try to go to a blog. Jane! your arms!! The stuff of dreams!! No appetite today, tired of stupid apple pie quest bars but without them I don't come close to meeting my fiber needs. gah. Feeling blue today, not feeling team cohesion, feeling like someone I thought was a friend isn't, fretting a lot. -

Well I have no idea what the eff anybody may have said in the last 3 days, because with this new format, my government computer thinks this site should be blocked half the time and I get the big no-no "BLOCKED BY CENTCOM EAST" message. Oh yeah and all of my active PM threads are blank .... so OD if you wrote me, Coops, I got nothin'. Why the HELL did they have to go and do this?!!! Also with that effing enormous BARIATRIC PALS banner on the home page, it is NSFW, I don't feel like having everybody effing know that I had BARIATRIC SURGERY. geez. this sux. -

Seriously.. What's up with yogurt these days?
Globetrotter replied to Ms.AntiBand's topic in Rants & Raves
CGJane said it, you can use it for soooooo much, I now use it for every recipe that calls for sour cream or mascarpone. If I'm eating it sweet, I sprinkle some stevia, a couple of blueberries or other berries for the antioxidants, and some crushed raw nuts like almonds. I avoid frozen berries though as they are suspect - pesticides, added sugar, syrup, etc.
