Prolab whey protein
Globetrotter replied to Globetrotter's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Um, hello?? Nobody has any information on this product? Please comment, somebody - anybody! I'm pre-op and anxious and trying to get my ducks in a row, this stuff is all that is avaiable at hand without ordering online and waiting 2 weeks. -
It's funny this got posted now, I just received my pre-op packet and it talks about the need to wear the stockings. It also mentioned the need to stop oral contraceptives one month prior to surgery, due to increased bloodclot risk. Wish I would have known that two weeks ago! I'll stop but I'm only 2 weeks out now.

Lotion on incision sites?
Globetrotter replied to texashopeful's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
where can you purchase Bio-Oil? Would sweet almond oil work as well? -
Post op nerve damage/pain anyone?
Globetrotter replied to zephra's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wonder if some kind of girdle or binder would help, keep everything snug so the incisions don't pull? -
San Francisco here I come.....
Globetrotter replied to lootzie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations, I hope that pain is gone now. When did you get your bloodwork, ekg, etc. take care of? I'm going to have to have it done a day or two before the surgery, as I am flying in from out of country. How did you get through all this crazy paperwork? I'm freaking out, I even had to start a binder for all of it there is so much! What did you have to do the day before surgery and are you staying in the City for 5 days after or did you get to go home? I live about 3 hours north of SF. Sorry for the deluge of questions but I've had nobody to talk to who used lapSF. -
very disappointed in this site
Globetrotter replied to mp8btpc's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was one who read your thread and did not reply and you know why? Because it scared the $H!T out of me. I am about 2 weeks away from surgery and starting the paperwork extravaganza and it's all sinking in for me and when I read that, I just couldn't deal, it was so so frightening!!!! I'm in 100% agreement with folks who have posted to this thread that you need to seek some kind of redress if at all possible, and therapy at the very least. Good luck to you and I hope that in time you will be able to complete your vsg/wls journey. -
July 14th in San Francisco, will start travelling from Iraq more than a week prior, just to get there in time for pre-op stuff!

Packing Check List
Globetrotter replied to mellifrits's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow, that was like, the most comprehensive packing list ever! Awesome! I just got my surgery date and I am going to cut and paste and print this list out, it's perfect! -
Blue - Actually I just got my surgery date confirmed an hour ago, July 14th, eeeepp!!! I have a wierd job that keeps me in a sort of cocoon from regular life and society, I'm hoping I can use the 5 months after surgery to mentally adjust to the new me, to help me be prepared when I do go back to regular life in the States.

I'm as big a chocosaurus as the next gal, but I'm noticing that all of these protein drinks for our full liquid phase are sweet, either chocolate or fruit sweet. Are there any savory options out there? A high-gram protein drink that tastes more like beef broth or something savory might make a welcome change after days of sticky sweet. Does that exist?
-
What about broths? Can we have chicken, beef, and vegetable broths during the full liquid stage, so long as there aren't chunks or chewable bits?

Folks - I am really scared of VACATION!!!
Globetrotter replied to sickofrollercoaster's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
This scares the heck outta me - I thought one of the big points of having the surgery was to stop the severe all-consuming diet life style - this sounds like Atkins! I know that protein first is the mantra but are you saying that you gain weight or stop losing if you eat any carbs at all? I wonder if severe carb restriction can actually make you more susceptible to carbs - kinda like the theory that severe restriction for allergies actually makes people more susceptible to allergens. Good luck and vodka is low calorie, the olive in a martini should count for protein! =) -
San Francisco here I come.....
Globetrotter replied to lootzie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow, somebody else who is going to SF, not to Mexico! =) Are you going with LapSF? I'm heading to the city in a few weeks too. -
Dieting - its my battle!
Globetrotter replied to SParkle's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Wow, is that woman threatened by you or what!! She is simply terrified of you having a pretty face AND a fit body, simply terrified! What a pathetic person. What a BravoIndiaTangoCharlieHotel (there's a swear word in there!) -
I don't know what issues I may or may not have with a romantic partner and how much I eat because I haven't been sleeved yet. However, I do already have some anxiety about reactions to the changes in me. Whenever I have managed to lose weight before in my life, my female friends have been ... less than supportive, shall we say. In fact, I never had straight female friends until I became obese. Until I took myself out of competition women were regularly cruel to me, I have to prepare myself for the possibility of the same happening again. Maybe women in their late 20s and early 30s won't be as cruel as women in their early 20s were.

not sweet protein shakes
Globetrotter replied to Globetrotter's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Jachut - hmm, do you blend the flips or just stir? Do you break the yolk? Do you think it would work with unflavored protein powder mixed in? Is it best to drink them super cold? I'm not sleeved yet but I started this thread because just the idea of those sticky sweet jelly bullets ... *shudder* -
I WISH I would feel less restriction already!
Globetrotter replied to LAN2k's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I haven't been sleeved yet and this kind of news scares me. I'm so sorry you're in pain. Could it maybe be scar tissue? I am curious, both if the incidences you gave as examples, had you felt full yet when the pain happened? Maybe you were eating past your full point and didn't realize it? would warm compresses on your throat help? -
I'm looking forward to having a small chest, mind you, small to me is like a C cup!=) All the cute bras are for B cups and that built in shelf bra in tank tops is a joke if you are a C or better. I've heard they can now take the fat from other parts of your body and use it for breast implants/reconstructions. That would be awesome, the best of both worlds, lipo and a lift! =)

Is a blender a "must have" post-op?
Globetrotter replied to NC Redneck's topic in Food and Nutrition
Pureed chicken?! Barf-o-rama lol!! I hadn't thought of blending up real foods, I was just thinking of the protein shakes, and ways to keep them from being grainy, which I've heard is a problem. I think I'm going to buy or make from scratch quarts of chicken broth, tomato soup, veg. broth etc., freeze them and then heat up portions with unflavored protein powder mixed in. It sounds better to me than all these jelly sweet protein bullets and grainy shakes. -
It's strange and no doubt there are deeply psychological something or others involved but, one of the things I am looking forward to after the surgery is in fact, food. I long for the day when I will be able to fully appreciate the artistry of food, rather than the volume. Also being able to participate in foodie culture and not have it be any kind of concern that I'm not getting my "money's worth" because I "must have" volumes of food. There is a sushi place in San Francisco that does these "perfect bite" spoons - a miso Soup spoon artfully loaded with the perfect amalgam of flavors and textures. I will be able to fully appreciate that, mind body and spirit now, rather than just mind and tongue while intending to hork down a giant plate of tempura and soup and and and ... Maybe I read the dining section of the New York Times too much! lol, They always have these incredible pictures of food from la ti da restaurants; just yesterday there was a picture of a single egg yolk in a shallow bowl, with a foam of something surrounding it, and a tiny trail of grains. Just right!! :lol0:

How did you lose it?
Globetrotter replied to BeenThereWasThat's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Eloquentblue - four sizes, wow! I don't know how that could go unnoticed, but I don't know what sizes you are in. My highest was a 28 and only my Mother noticed when I went down to a 22. It's more noticeable in the smaller sizes I think. But still, if your coworkers are mostly female, they may be panicking or jealous of your success and don't know how to be happy for your success. -
whos your surgeon and how many sleeves did they do before doing yours??
Globetrotter replied to NY Lou's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm still pre-op, I asked my surgeon in our initial consult how many VSG's he had done and he said 900, sounds good to me!
