    Couple Silly/Stupid Questions

Thanks Sleeve 4 Me! It seems once I finally get something down, it's time to add another. I had a hard time getting all my fluids it. When I finally was able to get them all, I had my week check up and had to start counting the protein. It's so hard! But...it's so true. The days I'm able to get all my fluids AND protein, I feel great! So I try to make that my motivation but it's still hard. But...we can do this! And we will. It's just an adjustment! Good luck! :scared0:

What did I do to myself?

Carrie, Don't give up! It gets better. I'm 3 weeks post-op and my first week, I was a mess! My first night I was a mess. I cried and cried and cried asking my family over and over again "OMG, WHAT DID I DO???" Then I would have skinny nurses come in to check my vitals and I would be mad at them- thinking well they didn't have to have surgery. They get to eat whatever they want and not worry about it. The week after I was a train wreck too! I went to visit my brother to get out of the house and just sat there and cried and cried. No reason. Just cried. IT GETS BETTER! I promise. Once you get start on real food (if you want to call mushies real food) then you will start to feel better. Your energy will start coming back. Hang in there!
  4. Hey Everyone, :thumbup1: I'm a little over 3 weeks post op and finally feeling better. Everything went fine just was in some horrible pain! I mean HORRIBLE. Doing better now, and it's great to see the scale go down. I'm down 41 (since December when the whole process started) and down 20 since surgery. I don't feel it at all, but people are noticing! I went shopping for a dress and it's 3 sizes smaller! YAY. I wasn't going to buy it since I doubt I'll wear it a lot, but it was 70% off and it made me feel good! Ok, enough of my babbling. I have a few questions for you all... 1. How long did you use the baby spoon? I love it and it really keeps my bites in check, but I'm going back to work soon, I'm just wondering how long I should use it. 2. I'm having a horrible time getting Protein AND all my fluids in. It seems I can do one or the other, but not both. STupid question, I feel like I should know the answer to: Does the Water I use to make a Protein shake count as Fluid? (I warned you it was stupid, but I really don't know!) I just love these boards! Thanks everyone

A little LOST! - Any tips

Hi There! I'll be completely honest....I couldn't believe how much pain I was in! I'm 3 weeks post op and doing ok now, still tender, and my left side (which is the side that the stapler went into) is still really sore. I cried the first 2 days and can't tell you how many times I said "they didn't tell me how painful this would be". I read a lot on the boards and people were fine after a few days, but not me. I was hurting. I also had a rare hernia fixed (he's only seen 3 of this type doing the surgery for 15 years), so he thinks a lot of my pain is from that....but be prepared! It hurts. Though, everyone is different, I was just surprised at how bad I was feeling. I'm now 3 weeks out, and I'm walking. I try to get out of the house at least once a day and just take it slow...it's worth it though! (sorry if I scared you! The Dr and nurse kept telling me I'd have little discomfort...and that's NOT what I felt!) Good luck on your journey!

    New Guy On The Block

Welcome Dave! I'm only about 3 weeks post-op, but can tell you it gets easier every day! Congratulations on making the first step and welcome! I'm a bit of a lurker as well, but the information you will get from these boards are amazing! I've been checking it so often to make sure the things I'm dealing with is normal (so far everything has been). Good luck with assessment day! The time will FLY by and you'll be sleeved in on time!
  7. Hi Jamey, Thanks for the great post! I love the idea of getting on every morning to start your day with inspiration! I'm going to try that! Can't wait to start walking! Congrats on your success!
  8. Great! I'll look for you! I figured they wouldn't have a problem with you coming! I'll probably be wearing a jean skirt and a teal shirt. Looking forward to chatting with ya!

  9. Great, well I will head toward the back too! I will be wearing a bright orange shirt so I should be easy to spot! I am a little nervous myself, I always am at first. I look forward to meeting you!

  10. I'm going to the support group tonight, so I hope to meet up! My name is Aimee and I'll probably be hiding somewhere in the back! :)

I haven't been online much at all, so I didn't think you were rude! I felt bad because I haven't been on. Looking forward to seeing you tonight! I'm a little nervous, this is my first meeting, so we'll see how it goes. Plus, I haven't been out too much since surgery, but I'm ready! :)

  11. I sent you another message and it doesn't appear in our conversation here. If you didn't get it I apologize, I don't know what happened. It addressed your concerns about it getting better, and yes it does get much better (but it's been a week now so you probably know that). Anyway I hope you got my message otherwise you must have been thinking I was so rude. I hope we can meet at tommorow's support group. :)

  12. I called and they said they would welcome me at tommorow nights session. If you are there, I would love to chat and see how you are doing.

  13. Hi Girls, I'm so glad you started this thread! I'm doing pretty good. I had my one week follow up today (a few days late) and it went great. I'm just so tired! It's hard getting Fluid in, but I'm doing the best I can. Just thrilled that I'm off the clear liquid diet and onto the full liquid diet! So excited to put something into my mouth that isn't Jello or broth! :frown1: And that drain! Blah, that came out today and I think that made me feel 100 times better! TnT- Dr Z did my surgery. He is amazing! The program at Summa is amazing and I can't imagine having it done anywhere else. The whole staff is wonderful and am just thrilled with the progress I've made so far. Looking forward to chatting with you all! Hang in there Yolanda! Your surgery date is coming soon! :crying:
  14. Hi there!

Thanks for the message. Yeah, I went to Summa and am happy with the program. I've been having a lot of pain! I didn't over the weekend and was pretty much off the pain pills, but I had a rough night on Sunday and it's been downhill since. They also found a hernia on my stomach when they did the surgery, so that's messed me up a little bit. I was having a hard time with the fluid intake as well. It's so hard to get it in! The next support meeting is next week. Aug 25th. It's at 6:30-8:00 at 55 Arch Street. I can't imagine that they would have a problem with you coming. Everyone in that office is just amazing. The office number is: 330-375-6590. Just give them a call and I'm sure they will welcome you! So how long ago did you have your surgery? It gets better right? I've been having so many feelings of regret and total freak outs this past week. Let me know if you are planning on going and we can meet up! :)

  15. Hi there,

I noticed you said you had Summa. We just moved to Akron from San Diego and we selected Summa as our health care provider (through University of Akron). I am thinking maybe that would be the support group I should attend since they will be my provider effective Sept 1. I am going to make some calls and make sure they will welcome me since my actual surgery was at UCSD. If so, perhaps we can meet up there at the next meeting, I would love to meet you and share stories. How are feeling one week out? I was in quite a bit of pain and having trouble with fluid intake, but it does get alot better!
