Sleeved with lots of Complications
Donna4545 replied to momoftwo's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I hope you can rest, relax, and recover as quickly as possible. -
when did you start eating dense protein
Donna4545 replied to val628's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Why can I eat so much dense protein? Other people talk about being able to get 2 oz in, or a couple of bites, and I'm fine with a full 4 oz. Is something wrong with me? Now after that 4 oz I am definitely done, but what's the deal? I also can't seem to eat slow (taking 1/2 hr for a meal). I'm too hungry for that! I feel like eating is too easy for me compared to other people--I don't react badly to anything (though I haven't tried fresh fruit and veggies yet). My portions are small compared to before but it seems that everyone else is eating even smaller portions--like 2 bites of something! Am I in trouble? -
At what Point do you notice weight loss
Donna4545 replied to momoftwo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did the math, and when I average it out I lose 3-4 lbs a week. But individuals days fluctuate up and down by a pound. One day I will weigh 294 and the next 294.7. I've decided I can't worry about the day to day fluctuations. I'm kind of discouraged because I wanted to lose faster after surgery, but I'm just going to keep on going. It will come off eventually. I've lost almost 40 lbs and I still haven't gone down a pants size! -
It's in very few stores outside of major cities. You can buy it on Amazon but it's incredibly expensive. You can Google for their website.
-
294 on the nose. See below for starting stats.

Call the nutritionist and see what her advice is. As you get closer to goal, it is normal to lose slower. Up the protein and exercise and hang in there!

Check out my blog (below) to see what I'm eating this week. I use meat and cheese to up the calories. (Lean and lowfat though). A few veggies/carbs because my nut ok'd it--less than 35 carbs a day usually. Each meal is 200-300 calories.
-
My nut told me to up my calories to around 1,000. Hope that helps. My loss is slow. Since surgery it's 3 lbs a week, with a stall in the middle when I went on a trip. This week has been slow for me too, but it's inching down. I've lost 17 lbs since surgery, and we were sleeved within a day of each other. It sounds like we're pretty much in the same territory.

Sleeved 8/16 - when were u and how r u doing?
Donna4545 replied to MKK's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery (7/14/10) and recovery were fine, but I'm not losing as fast as I want to. The scale keeps going up and down in the same 3 lb range. I'm hanging in there. There is no way that I can eat 1,000 cals a day or less and NOT lose weight. It just doesn't seem scientifically possible. I'm guessing that water weight is part of the equation. I've only lost 17 pounds after surgery. -
when did you start eating dense protein
Donna4545 replied to val628's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I'm 5 weeks out, and I seem to pretty much be able to eat any meat/fish, as long as the portions are small. I don't eat raw veggies yet. I was told I could at 6 weeks. -
Will craving junk food stop with sleeve?
Donna4545 replied to davidblackmisty's topic in Food and Nutrition
My nutritionist said 1,000 calories a day. If I'm short on calories, I'll allow myself some dark chocolate and a glass of white wine--but I don't go over my calorie limit and I get my protein in. That's my only craving. I hope it's not too bad. -
Gastric Sleeve In Juarez Mexico
Donna4545 replied to jenniferedmon's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
With gastric bypass, you will lose faster, but you will have malnutrition that you will have to treat for the rest of your life. -
and I have to add--Jesus kicked ass and took names in the Temple--he wasn't loving the moneychangers. Sometimes the real world is more complicated than "love" and tough love often does more good than unconditional love--which comes from God, not other people. We're human here.

I don't need the Bible quoted at me because I have a different opinion than you. You should be able to handle that, as I handle your opinion. It just looks so darn self-righteous. Didn't Jesus say not to parade your righteousness, and when you pray, to do so in a closet, and not for the approval of others? Peace in Jesus. My relationship with him may be different from yours. There is no one way.

I only told my mom and my best girlfriend. No one else needs to know--I don't want to have to deal with their judgments/uninformed opinions. It's none of their business imho.

Traveled for a week, gained 4 lbs
Donna4545 replied to Donna4545's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
The 2 lbs are lost. Onward! -
I mean this in the nicest way, but I think you are being over-sensitive. Adults don't have to sugar coat everything when they talk to each other. I'd rather hear someone's true opinion than some watered down "polite" version that hides their true feelings. I don't see a problem with open discussion.

Traveled for a week, gained 4 lbs
Donna4545 replied to Donna4545's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Ok, it can be done. You can totally blow it and find your way back to the True Path lol. I'm back drinking water, food logging, watching calories, and tomorrow, adding exercise in again. Traveling is hell, it totally throws everything off. It took me 3 days back to get back into a healthy routine, but I DID IT! Day one of renewed leaf. -
where are the heavyweights?

I have 150+ lbs to lose. The scale, however, is not cooperating. -
Foods you used to love but now hate
Donna4545 replied to citizenwill's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I used to be quite the red wine aficionado, and now I can't stand the way it tastes. My food tastes didn't change at all, just wine. -
Traveled for a week, gained 4 lbs
Donna4545 replied to Donna4545's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I went back and checked my records, and it was 2 lbs not 4 lbs. And I started my period today, so I was PMSing. I haven't been able to exercise or drink water the way I should, and my routine is all disrupted. If I can get back on the wagon I think it'll be ok. -

Thanks Tiff, I hope so! -
People suck. Fat hate is the last acceptable prejudice. Thin love is shallow love. Only the beautiful deserve to be treated nicely? Not in my moral universe.
