  1. Just a note of encouragement to all of you out there that might be struggling with stalls. I highly recommend the 5 day sleeve test. It really helped me get back on track with my eating. I have cut out all starchy carbs, bread, pasta, potatoes, rice, etc and am sticking to protein and veggies. I feel awesome. Not only did I loose the extra 5 lbs I had gained since right before Thanksgiving but I have now broke the 150 lb barrier and came in this morning at 147! I feel awesome. I am going out today to try on size 8 jeans! I started at 193 lbs and busting out of 16's. This is so exciting! My goal is 145 lbs but now I can see that being reduced to even 140!! I have lost 46 pounds since getting sleeved by Dr. Nick (he's awesome) April 27, 2010. I am considering a tummy tuck in July and getting my arms done (I have always had wings, even as a teen) as well as some lippo from my upper back. This is so amazing and I feel so awesome. Will be turning 48 this year and am in the best shape of my life. My hubby loves my new bod and can't get enough. It has put the spark back into our 24 year marriage! I want to go to Hawaii for our 25th wedding anniversary and wear sleeveless tops and dresses. I have never had the confidence to do that before and with the weight loss and the plastic surgery to help fix these irritating issues, I am going to rock!! Lots of love to everyone out there and thank you for all of the encouragement along the way. This is the best thing I have ever done for myself. Stick to your program and excercise. The results will astound you!
  2. Thank you to everyone for your encouraging words and advice! I have ordered the 5 day pouch test manual as suggested by Thinoneday. I was using my treadmill initially but have probably not been on it for the past 6 weeks to 2 months. I know I need to and I know I will but I need to do it when I get home from work and I am tired, have to make dinner, blah blah with all the excuses. You know how it is. I am going to get back on track with eating smaller portions and getting on the treadmill. This was just the encouragement I needed. I also need to update my weight loss ticker (but perhaps I shall wait until after I loose the extra few punds). Actually this morning I weighed myself I was 2 lbs lighter than yesterday. Drives you crazy you know? I used to just weigh once a week and now I am more obsessive about it. Oh well. I am still happy with the weight I have lost and am going to think happy and positive thoughts and get back on track. Thanks again, you guys are the absolute best!!!!!!!!!
  3. Just curious if there are any others out there like me. I was sleeved at the end of April. I went thru a couple of stalls but managed to loose 42 lbs. In fact, I was just 6 lbs away from my goal! The last month or so the scale started creeping up. first 1-2 pounds then 3 and then this morning I have now gained 5 lbs. I know it is my fault. I am eating more, still only 3 meals a day and very limited snacks (if any) but I have over indulged occassionally (unfortunately to the point of pain). I certainly don't want to undo the hard work, and especially do not under any circumstances want my stomach to stretch out. I haven't been exercising so I know I need to get back on track with that. This is rather horrifying at this moment so I thought I'd check to see if any others have experienced this. I've been away from this forum way too long!

    April 2010 Sleevers!

I cannot be more estatic! Got on the scale this morning and weighed 164.4! I used to have some discomfort about 3 weeks out but that has passed. I am on the treadmill for about 3 miles 4-5 times a week. I also try to do some work on my arms. I have always had wings so no speghetti straps for me but someday I hope to have an arm lift. I always eat my protein first and then try to get some veggies in. Last night I had Chicken enchiladas with verde sauce and a few chips and salsa and a little guacomole. Lovely. I also snack on nuts. Especially love pecans with sea salt. This has just been the very best thing I have ever done for myself. Blood sugars are great, high blood pressure seems to be gone! Still taking meds for high cholesterol but will have blood work this week and am hoping for improved numbers all the way around. Life is Good!
  5. I have a sinus infection. Have been on Leviquin for 5 days now (500 mg/daily) and am still suffering, ear ache, feeling I have water between my ears, drainage, etc. My PCP gave me pills instead of liquid. I am 8 1/2 weeks post-op. Starting to wonder now if my new stomach cannot absorb the antibiotic which is why I am not feeling better?
  6. I'm almost 8 weeks out and still occassionally have gurgling but it gets better. seems when I eat something new it triggers it...

    April 2010 Sleevers!

Those cookies sound great, especially in the freezer. I haven't had anything sweet other than jello pudding cups since 2 weeks pre-op...I usually snack on deli chicken meat with cheese or nuts or the pudding cups...I'm a savory, salty girl althou I never used to turn my nose up at a decedent dessert in the past! I do like chocolate. Just since the sleeve I haven't had the sweet cravings (thank goodness)...I love this forum as well. It is great to see everyone's progress. And the support is there for us who struggle or have issues. It's our own mini-support group. Rock On April Sleevers!!

    April 2010 Sleevers!

Had my 6 week post op with Dr. Nick this past Tues (even thou I am actually 7 weeks out). He was very pleased with my progress as am I. They show 22 lbs down and I show 23...of course I don't have clothes on when I weigh in the am (LOL). Dang it thou, I forgot to ask him what size my sleeve is...just figures! Oh well! I don't have any problem tolerating any foods. I eat small portions and that suites me just fine. I struggle a little with snacking at night even thou I am making good snack choices, I just wish I didn't feel compelled to eat anything after dinner. It's not every night but it is most. Been on the treadmill 3 miles fairly regularly except for this week as haven't been sleeping well and am sooo tired after work. But life is good and I love my sleeve. Congrats to all of us April sleevers and best in luck in your journey to a healthier happier you!!

    April 2010 Sleevers!

Here, here I totally know what you mean!...I have not had any kind of sweets (other than sugar free jello pudding) since 2 weeks prior to surgery and tomorrow is my 6th week! not interested...although I do still seem to occassionally take just one more bite than I should have! I am trying to slow down and listen to my my body but old habits are hard to break! I was in a stall for at least 3 weeks and finally think (I hope anyway) broke it with a 3 lb lost on Saturday! It is soooo good to see the scale move again! This weekend went to Old Navy and bought a large shirt without even trying it on and the dog gone thing fit. that made me happy!
  10. thanks, oregondaisy, where do you find that, I don't know that I have seen it before?
  11. I'm taking the OTC prilosec and occassionally have "break through" heart burn. What can I take for that?
  12. Thanks for checking in on me. I am doing great, just counting the days until I am sleeved. How are you hanging in there?

  13. How are you doing Zephra? Haven't heard from you in a while. Hope things are going well for you on your pre-op diet. If I recall correctly, you are getting sleeved 6-11, right? It is not much longer now!!

  14. Yes, Dr. Nick and his folks are the absolute best. I am extremely happy with my results. lk 1069, I also live in Garland...thanks for the info on the boughie. I was quite sore for the first week or so. It kept getting better and better thou...I couldn't wait to get that drain out. That most definitely felt great!! Keep on sipping to get in your liquids and walk, walk, walk...I walked around the neighborhood several times a day. I know that it was a great benefit in my recovery. Lavonwarrier, Cream Soup definitely helped me through the early stages. I very much enjoyed guacomole and chicken salad did nicely as well. Canned chicken with a little mayo and some seasoning goes down easy. Do you like grits? Those are very good. I especially like them with a soft cooked egg on top. In fact, that was what I had for Breakfast today. I made sure I got plenty of liquids and added Protein powder to my Protein shakes and also got some fruit flavored liquid Protein that I diluted with crystal light to make sure I got all my protein in. It worked quite nicely. Best of Luck to both of you. Maybe we'll bump into each other sometime!!!
  15. I am almost 6 weeks post op - this Tuesday will be the magic day. I was soooo looking forward to my appt with my dr...I was down another 3 lbs this morning after going thru quite a lengthy stall (finally stopped weighing every day and just once a week now) but now I have to reschedule due to a work conflict and won't make it in until early July. Very frustrating as I was really excited about going to see my surgeon again. Wanted to ask him what size bougie? he used...I didn't have that information when I had the surgery. Not that it much matters I guess since I am loosing weight but just curious, ya know? Anyway, since I've got to wait another 4 weeks for an appt, what am I missing at the 6 week visit. If I know, it might make me feel better. Thanks!!!
