    Indoor exercise?

Donna, you might consider getting a Richard Simmons exercise DVD. I have some of the old ones on VHS, Sweatin' to the Oldies and the music is good. They have all different kinds of folks in the video at different weight loss stages. I think it is a pretty good work out...
  2. I am 4 weeks out but started with full liquid diet for the first 2 weeks and then progressed to soft diet (per dr's instructions). Full liquids included protein shakes, crystal light, soups (low fat meat & milk based - I love low fat cream of chix soup and add more chix broth for a little more flavor), cooked cereals (cream of rice or wheat, which I did NOT like!), mashed potatoes (absolutely love). Also, strained pureed vegies, unsweetened applesauce, skim milk, sugar free jello (a life saver for the munchies!) and puddings. The first time I tried a sugar free pudding for a treat, I could only eat half of it and I was absolutely stuffed for like 3 hours! That was about 4 days in...I am really surprised with your calorie intake...most folks here, me included, only get about 600-800 calories daily. Now I eat Subway breakfast sandwiches (minus the bread) for breakfast, very satisfying; usually a cup of soup (any low fat, low sodium) healthy choice is good, for lunch and either soup or soft protein with a few well cooked veggies for dinner. I will occassionally have a handful of nuts in the evening, without any issues, or sugar free pudding. Life is Grand!! Hope this is helpful. Have a great day!

    Going kind of crazy...

I too drove my hubby nuts. I had a couple of very blue days - crying, very irritable...but that is in the past now. These girls know what they are talking about. You need to sip your liquids, 1-2 oz per 15 minutes...broths are good and soothing I found. I started in with some low fat campbells cream of chix soup by the middle of the 2nd week and that was fabulous. fell in love with it. You will do fine and the weight will start to come off. At one point, I was loosing a pound a day, it was amazing! It has slowed down now at 4 weeks post op but I've already lost 20 lbs and I am estatic about that. Best of Luck to you in your journey. This website is the best place to go for questions, advice and just to air your feelings!!!
  4. thanks for the tips and comments. only 2 more months to go. I love cape cods!! :-)
  5. Am curious when it is safe to drink a little alcohol again? I am missing partaking of adult beverages on Friday evenings...I am only 4 weeks out so I am sure it is way too soon. But just curious, I have heard wine is probably too rough, perhaps too acidy and that post op 3 months is ok to try a little of something like a frozen drink, daquiri, margarita or pina coloda perhaps?...I am sure this has been asked before but I'm a neeby so please indulge me with your experiences/recommendations. Thanks!

    April 2010 Sleevers!

I was sleeved April 27th and feel fantastic! Almost 20 lbs gone, only lost about 6 pre-op but then afterwards it came off pretty quickly until I started on more solid food. I was kind of stuck for a couple of weeks, down 1, up 1, down 1/2, up 2, that kind of thing but I think that is over with and decided only to weigh myself once a week so I wouldn't go nuts with the up and down. Couldn't wait and weighed today after 4 days and am down 1 1/2 lbs! My hubby loves the new me too and finds me sooo sexy. It has been alot of fun! We've been married 23 years and the weight loss has spiced things up!!! I am on the treadmill almost everyday (at least 6 days a week) and have worked up to 2.5 miles at a speed of almost 3 miles an hour. I am eating a variety of foods, in small portions and loving every minute of it. My only complaint is sometimes I still feel like snacking at night which was my downfall previously. But, I always make healthy choices so I think I will be ok in the long run. Looking forward to my 6 week follow up visit and nutrition class. Kuddos to fellow April Sleevers!!!
  7. That is awesome, Zephra!!! Way to go, I am sure the other 6 will come off in 2 weeks. Keep up the good work!!!

    Leak Repair?

How is it going today? My heart is breaking that you have to go through so much just trying to get healthy. I know everyone here is praying for your wife and will continue to do so.

    Just wondering

excellent advice, I am going to start weighing in every week and if that gives me fits then I'll cut it back even more. hope you are doing well!
  10. Has anyone gained any weight? I am almost 4 weeks out. I was down 17 lbs then gained 1/2 - 1 pound but ended up loosing another 2 1/2 pounds over the past week or so. Then woke up this morning to a 2 pound weight gain overnight! What is up with this? Extremely frustrating. I am on the treadmill 2 miles a day. The only thing I did differently yesterday is I had two slices of cheese with 4 slices (very thin) deli chicken at about 9pm. I don't usually eat that late but felt very hungry. That cannot possibly be the reason could it?
  11. One other thing I wish I would have known prior...go to one of the websites (advantage Bariatric) or Bariatriceating.com and get soft chews for your Calcium Citrate. I could not stand the tablets they give you in the hospital. very chalky. the little soft chews taste like some kind of candy I can't remember the name of.

    Just wondering

gotcha, thanks for the encouragement. I have been going nuts with the scale. told myself today that is it, I am only going to start weighing once a week from here on out. it is too emotionally painful!!!
  13. wow...how can you eat so little calories pre-surgery. I was going nuts on my 1200 calorie diet pre-surgery and I had a few "last meals". last steak, last shrimp & crab legs meal...it has to come off soon for you at those levels, keep it up!
  14. good to hear that things are improving with your back. I would imagine that joining Curves will help quite a bit. Congrats to you on your fantastic weight loss. I am sure your dr will be quite pleased! I've now lost a total of 19.5!! Ya hoo!!!! Gotta love it!

  15. Sounds good, would like to meet you. I have seen others from Dallas but not sure that they are in our area. I wonder if there is a way you can search for Dallas members? Or perhaps you could do a poll? There could be others interested in a local support group... 190 is meeting I-30 near our house as well. We're off to the grocery store and other chores this quiet Sunday afternoon. Talk to you later!
  16. p.s. Dr. Nick is great. My hubby recommended him. He has worked with him at Forest Park. Who is your dr?
  17. A support group sounds awesome! I live in South Garland, near Mesquite. Not too far from Rowlett actually! We are off I-30 and Bobtown...Firewheel is good though...I work in Addison so I could catch George Bush on the way home from work and stop somewhere there...
  18. Zephra, I am in Dallas also. I did not loose very much weight pre-op, about the same as you are at right now. I started two weeks prior with a 1200 calorie diet. I was on Slim Fast shakes (5 per day) plus one meal (lean protein with 2 cups veggies). I even cheated a little. But my surgeon was very pleased with my results. Don't worry, it sounds like you are doing great. The important thing as I understand it is your liver. Having too much fat in the liver can be dangerous. The liver is in front of your stomach. I think as long as you stick to the recommended diet as closely as possible, your liver is what is important and not so much with the weight loss. Best of luck to you!!
  19. I was sleeved on April 27, 2010. I knew it was going to be painful but wasn't prepared as to how painful it actually was. It's been 3 weeks now since surgery, I feel so much better. I want to loose about 40-50 lbs and have lost 17 so far but it is not coming off now like it was in the beginning. I was loosing a pound a day! Old clothes are fitting again and my blood sugar is great. Prior to surgery, I was averaging in the low 200's and since it has dropped from the 140's - 150's to as low as between 105 -110. I am simply estatic with this! My surgeon was Dr. Nick Nicholson, an excellent doctor and I can't thank him enough for this new lease on life. I want to figure out how to post the weight tracker I see everyone has but so far haven't found the instructions for this...

    Just beginning,

You are going to do great. Dr. Nick is simply awesome! The folks at Forest Park are wonderful and took very good care of me. The first day after surgery was rough but I got through it with the help of my husband. and it does get better so hang in there. You are in good hands!!
  21. Thanks for the words of encouragement and help with the ticker! I got mine set up!! You've got an awesome goal! I can't wait until I see the 160's...it's been like forever...I also have some bulging discs, are you finding the weight loss helpful with that?

  22. Best of luck to you Maddie, who is your doctor? Are you on the pre-diet yet? That was tough but I made it through. The first day after surgery is rough too but it keeps on getting better. I feel so much better. This is really great! Although I have to be honest, a few days after I had a couple of bad crying spells...to be expected. They call it Buyers Remorse! Again, I got through it and it has been great these past couple of weeks, especially getting started on real food!

    Just beginning,

Thank you so much for all the words of encouragement and responses to my first post. This is a wonderful place to be. I also have high blood pressure and high cholestoral (sp?) and felt this was the only answer to my health issues. I am so thankful! I am on my way to being hopefully healthier than I have ever been. Even thou I am a "light weight", I have struggled with my weight all my life and have lost 100's of pounds over and over during my 46 years. Tried every diet, exercise, etc but always end up giving up and going back to overeating. Everyone is so up beat and positive, it has been extremely helpful to read all of your posts. It's so great to be on a journey where there are so many others that have been where you are and those who are ahead and can give you advice on what's coming up. Thanks, again!!!!
