  1. Baylor hospitals use Aetna as their underwriters. Getting the surgery approved is very individual. The doctors look at the co-morbidities. Are you diabetic? Is you bmi over forty? Do you have high blood pressure or high cholestrol? The one that puts you over is if you have OSA. Look it up online. OSA is a costly condition to treat. I have heard that Aetna, United Health Care, and Blue Cross cover the surgery:thumbup:. There are some hoops that you have to jump through. Most surgeons want you to attend one of their seminars. You will need to do at least 4 nutritionist visits, 30 days apart. You may need to be tested for OSA. Your doctor may want you to be seen by a cardiologist. Your will probably have to have an UGI prior to surgery. There will be a single visit to a psychologist. Aetna started approving the sleeve only 2 weeks before I had my surgery. Lucky me. I had Dr. Nick Nicholson at Baylor Plano do my surgery. He and his staff are great.
