Go GO! Do it now! I wish I had done it at 20 and trust me, the excess skin is not a big deal and the sooner you have ti done the better your skin will bounce back. OH how I wish I were in my early 20s when I found out about the sleeve.

Slimming? Vomit?
SouthernSleever replied to Sannah's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Had both of these things happen to me but ONLY when i overate or didn't chew well. Haven't had it happen in over a year and even before then it was maybe once a month. Usually when I was very hungry and ate fast. Lesson learned! I compare it to having gas, it's really not that awful or big of a deal. -
Reviewing Mds In Mexico And Facilities
SouthernSleever replied to skane10's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
No need to sing Aceve's praises again, it's very easy to look around and see that he has glowing reviews. The sleeve is the best thing that has happened to me other than my kids. His facilities were cleaner than here in the US and I would pay DOUBLE or TRIPPLE that to go back to him. I have other friends who have went with surgeons in the US and they STILL aren't at their goal besides all of the complications they have had. Dr Aceves is the best in or out of the US -

NSV shout outs
SouthernSleever replied to BobBayCityMI's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Went shopping yesterday for festival clothes. I kept trying on size 5/6 pants and none fit right. About the 8th pair I decided to try on 3/4 and with just a little sucking in they were on. Big difference from 22/24 to 3/4. I still put my clothes in my 7 year old's drawer not realizing that they aren't his clothes. -
I have so much excess skin I'm starting to consider plastics. I'm 9lbs away from goal and I'm in size 8 jeans but I know without my tummy I'd be in a 6 or 4. That is how much extra skin I have. It's really getting on my nerves and I HATE wearing a shaper every single day. What scares me is all the complications I read about on Obesity Help's plastics forum. Has anyone on here had a TT? How long did it take to get back to normal? Would you do it again? How much was it? When could you go back to work? What would you change if you could do it over again? Are you happy that you had it done?

Gonna Get To Goal. Wanna Join Me?
SouthernSleever replied to coops's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thought I would post here. I made it to GOAL! I've become friends with my hooping instructor who is also a personal trainer. She has been watching her weight and it's really rubbed off on me. We check in each day with what we have eaten and what our plans are for the rest of the day. We also work out at least 2x a week. So 18 months out, lost 127lbs. I'm in size 4-6 down from 22/24. 36 C bra from 42DDD. XXL shirts to S/M. I have very saggy skin and I'm starting the process to get plastics to lift and tuck everything back. This has been an amazing experience. I'm at 149, 1lb less than my goal and I'm working toward 145. I love love love my body and I don't want to EVER go back to being fat. Thanks for all your support. XOXO -
How Soon After Vg Did You Go Back To Work?
SouthernSleever replied to Origical's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I could have gone back to work 1 week post op if I had a desk job. I have a very physical job (house keeping) and I went back about 3 weeks post op. It was rough. When I would bend over I would get dizzy. I was only working 1 day every other week so it was fine. -
Gonna Get To Goal. Wanna Join Me?
SouthernSleever replied to coops's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi ladies! I quit smoking 3 weeks ago today (Woohoo!) However I've had a 6.2lb weight gain since then. It's not just water because this is the part of the month where i usually lose and next week starts that 4lb gain I am eating more but I think it's mostly my metabolism slowing down. It's really freaking me out. Anyone else quit smoking and how much bounce back did you see? -
Hi all. Odd post I know but I had to ask if other people were experiencing this. As I've lost weight everything feels so exposed now. I wear kinda tight jeans (not where I have to suck in to zip or anything) and even when I'm sitting in the car or walking it's like they are rubbing on my good stuff. I feel like I constantly have an invisible camel toe now. At first I thought it was just a specific pants that had low rise but no, its all of them. I haven't been this small since Middle school so I suppose this might be what everyone experiences who is of normal weight? I guess my thighs and fat had kept things quit cushioned before. I do wear panties but maybe i need like some padded ones or something <shrug>. Maybe TMI but j ust standing or sitting everything is hidden if you know what I mean I don't have extra good stuff so that it might be easy to rub against jeans etc.

Actually I need to beef up my thighs butt and arms badly. Once you lose all your weight all you have left is skin, empty skin.

Gonna Get To Goal. Wanna Join Me?
SouthernSleever replied to coops's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I've been sick as heck for the last few days which caused me to lose a chunk (almost 2 lbs) of weight. I'm taking it though! I am not 1.6lbs from goal. I'm planning on plastics in August and I'm guessing another 5-7lbs will be taken off. -
Tummy Tuck...have You Had One?
SouthernSleever replied to SouthernSleever's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I've been thinking a lot about it and I think I'll have my tummy done because it's really a must. I can't do some exercises because of it, it hangs down below my pubic bone (gross eh?) and I have to wear a binder year round. As for my boobs even though the filling is mostly gone just the amount of skin pulls on my shoulders and they really bother me. My arms and legs do too but I can't just get a loan for an absurd amount of money. My kids are 4 and 7 and will be in college in 10-12 years. I haven't saved a penny for their college not to mention they have never been on a real vacation. I feel selfish for getting everything done so I think I'll stick with breasts and tummy and just deal with the rest. I should have that paid off (with the rest of my vsg) in probably 4 years. -
Blood Clot - Cumadin Question
SouthernSleever replied to former_vbg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a blood clot in 03 after an ankle fracture. I do NOT remember a big amount of weight gain however I believe that cumadin will have you hold onto water more so it's probably just water weight. Don't sweat it. You won't be on it that long I'm sure. -

What Size Am I!?
SouthernSleever replied to ouroborous's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Gap tends to run truer to size while old navy and eddie bauer are bigger or vanity sizing. The other thing is the style. People who wear EB traditionally don't wear tight clothes where as many dudes who shop at Gap do the whole skinny jean/fitted shirts. So it is made to fit tight. I'd say it's more the style than the brand and to try penny's or belks for some nice fitting clothes where you can choose from a range of designers/styles. -
Tummy Tuck...have You Had One?
SouthernSleever replied to SouthernSleever's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Eek guys. I have a way to get plastics financed with low interest. Should I do it? It would take all the extra money I have for probably the next 6 years and that means no vacation for my little ones I HAVE to get a tummy tuck and my breast are so deflated it's sad. My arms and thighs are pretty bad too. I can't believe this could be a reality. That and I'm scared : / -

Failed Almanza Sleeve
SouthernSleever replied to vickie6866's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
If they didn't remove enough of the stomach to give you the proper amount of restriction they can resleeve you. A doctor I spoke with in Nashville said that after he had his first leak he started making his sleeves bigger but then saw that patients were only losing 1/2 of their expected weight loss and went back to a tighter sleeve. Good luck Vickie. Dr Aceves does great band to sleeve revisions and he's an excellent surgeon. Almost everyone I know has lost all of their excess weight with his sleeves and no leaks.
