I just got a call a few minutes ago that I will have the funds to get my surgery which is great! I plan on calling and scheduling with Dr. Aceves tomorrow. I was so excited and then all the sudden I just got a bad feeling like this is real. I could die. I could leave my babies. Did any of you have these feelings?

October Surgeries!!
SouthernSleever replied to tamboo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am planning on having my surgery in late September (23rd ish) or early October which is more likely like the 7th of Oct. I'm just waiting on my passport to arrive and then I'll be gtg. I'm going to Dr. Aceves. Anyone else going to Mexicali at that time? -
I have an IUD (the copper not the hormone one) and I just love it. I'm going back to the OBGYN before my surgery just to make sure everything is still good. I'd had to get this surgery and then get pregnant again.

Thanks for your replies. After talking in chat last night and reading more of the boards I feel a ton better and so excited. I have been on the phone for the last 5 hours talking with Nina, my Mom, my Aunt, and friends. I'm SO very excited! I have a list (I love lists) of things I need to do to get ready for surgery. I'm shooting for the 8th of October so I have time to get my passport and hubby has time to get off work. I'm gonna be THIN! <geek squeal>

I didn't get into Beta <evil eyes at blizzard> but I'm looking forward to Cat. I really really hope to have my sleeve by then, I've got 1/2 my money saved up. I know once I do have the sleeve I won't be playing nearly as much as I just can't sit for that long fearing a bloodclot forming and I don't think I'll *want* to play as much. I sure can't wait to post my new pictures on the guild website in my size medium Horde shirt I have ordered though

Hi everyone. I hope you don't mind me posting here as I'm not glbt but I'm having this same issue. I've told my Mom and Dad, husband, an aunt and uncle and a bestfriend. I don't know if I want to tell anyone else however I think once I get my surgery and start dropping weight people will assume I had a surgery especially when it drops off so quickly. I don't want to lie to people and I don't want people to think I'm sick or dying but at the same time I don't want to deal with the stuipd things people say or people watching every bite I put in my mouth.

Carrie, I'm sorry for all you have gone through. I read your OP and felt it was a bunch of BS that they continued with your surgery, infact you could have a lawsuit. We do a lot for our families and are easily persuaded by only hearing positives. I'm glad you chose to tell your story here and I hope that you are able to find some support elsewhere. Perhaps through a therapist, because what happened to you had to be traumatic.

Do we fly into San Fran and the driver picks us up from there? I sure hope so that would save me a ton on my flight. All you Aceves patients please let me know

Aceves Question
SouthernSleever replied to SouthernSleever's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you for your reply that cuts about 900 off my estimated bill. How much money for other things like meds/food/hotel/tips did you take? -

Calling all (TGVP) people!!! new procedure
SouthernSleever replied to joyfuljoy's topic in Gastric Plication Surgery Forum
I also wanted to know if the stitches would come out or the stomach would stretch. Is it possible to pop your stitches by overeating? Does this surgery have a risk of leaks? My other question is I'm nursing my 2 year old and I believe strongly in child-led-weaning. Will I be able to continue to nurse him after the surgery? Will he take away too many calories? I've heard that toxins are stored in your fat cells, if he is nursing when I am losing weight will he consume these toxins? -

A Minor Mileston & Things I've Noticed
SouthernSleever replied to ouroborous's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Right on! That's great! -
A simular thing happened when I had my first child. Before I had my son I was the primary breadwinner and I did everything for myself. Infact, my husband has all the brains but I know how to do stuff and actually did everything without asking for help. Once my baby was born the roles shifted and I didn't know quite where I fit in. We tried the "he is provider, I'm the mom" thing but it just didn't work. I was and am an independant person. It seems like with your weight loss the roles are shifting and he's just trying to figure out where he fits into things. I'm really not trying to say that you should treat him like a child but maybe he doesn't feel needed and you could find ways to let him know that he is valuable to you. At the same time I would firmly let him know that you can do these things and you aren't a child/breakable when those situations arise and you don't need his help.
