    Me on a Binge

I'm with you. Today I hate 2 chicken strips from Chick-fil-a then later a 6 piece nuggest and later the fries...wtf....Going out to eat is certinaly my downfall
  4. So I will be two weeks out tomorrow and I have lost a total of 25lbs including 5 pre-op. Woot! My wounds are healing up nicely though they itch. I have quite a bit of energy and have felt basically back to my old self since returning home. I have not made my protien requirement on any day and I'm just working on getting in my Water. Eating has become an unenjoyable chore to me. I hate to do it. I'd rather just drink all day. When I do eat my heart starts racing and I feel like I need to go lay down. I'm a housekeeper and I went back to work yesterday. I was SO no ready. I would bend over to pick something up and get very dizzy. A house that usually takes me 6 hours took me almost 9. I won't be doing that again for 2 more weeks. Once I got home I had to take a hot shower and nap. My shoulders were killing me. I'm not sure why that was. I still have thrush, I've tried beating it on my own with yogurt but that is just controling it so I'm calling my Dr today to get an Rx. I'm also still not using artificial sweetners (aside from the flavored syrups) in anything. I had Dr Oz on while I was working and again it just confirmed my thoughts on those. Water is starting to taste a lot better. Right after surgery it had a metallic taste to it. Anyway those are my thoughts. I'm so happy I've had the sleeve I cannot wait to see where I am next month!!! xposted at OH
  5. You have lost a ton of weight comared to what you have to lose. Look, I had 120 to lose and in two months I had taken off about 30. You have 70 to lose and took of 20. You are well ahead of the curve.
  6. Regardless of if you tell everyone or tell no one it doesn't have any reflection on you or your character. When I've dieted before and people have asked me how I lost the weight I would reply with "I eat less and work out more" and that was the truth. People aren't looking for answers from me, its more of just the next step in the conversation. I don't need to add in that "I go to bed hungry. I get very emotional without being able to eat. I no longer binge when no one is looking." The details aren't what people are asking for and are only your business to share if you want. I've only had 1 person ask me how I was losing the weight this time and I told them I had the sleeve. I made that choice on the spot because I believed she wouldn't judge me and also would start gossip. I have told several other people who support me and some friends and basically sometimes even at a resturant when I didn't want to order an adult meal. It is my surgery, my body, my choice and I'll tell whoever I want. It's not dishonest. To think that everyone will be supportive just because you have told them is silly, people are incredibly jealous of someone who's making a good change in their lives.

    Dr. Aceves technique

I believe because of the oversewing that it creates a smaller pouch. 97% of Dr Aceves patients lose all their excess weight within the first year so whatever he's doing it must be working.

How many carbs should I eat?

Woo hoo Chilo! I'm thinking of lowering my carbs. I've only lost about 6 lbs in the last month and I'm less than 4 months out! YIKES!

Carbs and why they make us fat

    Dr. Aceves and smoking

Yes, you must quit 10 days before surgery and if your bmi is over 40 it's a week of low carb. Dr Aceves is amazing well worth the trouble!

    Trader Joe's Corn Bread Mix

That reminds me of when hubby and I were on WW and we were stuck with a flat tire in the city. We got the car to the mechanic to put new tires on but it would be 2 hours. The kids were starving as were we so we went to McAllisters Deli. It seemed to us that the Club sandwhich would be the best bet as it was made with whole wheat toast, turkey, ham, did have bacon and mayo and cheese though. But nothing like deep fried. We split the dang thing and come to find out it was one of the worst things on the menu. We could have each had a meatloaf dinner than 1/2 a club sandwhich. Points wasted so I know what you mean about wasting those those calories, you could have had icecream or some other expensive indulgences.

    Another stall broken...

That's awesome that you are losing again and an encouraging post to read. My body seems to lose 5lbs or so in a week, stall stall, gain a little then start losing again. I'm not sure what our bodies are doing but sounds like things work out in the end. Btw I seriously doubt you look disgusting at all in your swim trunks.

Not Quite A Year Out ...

Woohoo Mini! I love your smile in your last pic! You look so happy!
  15. One other thing, make sure you are drinking lots and lots of Water and as someone said before measure yourself for sure! I'd be asking some serious questions if you don't feel restriction from your VSG.
  16. TexasT- Good to see you posting, haven't seen you in a while. I orginally thought about getting the band. I was on the band support site when I read something from one of you about the VSG and so I came over here. Now when I hear "Lap band" I cringe. Thank God (okay really one of you) that someone posted on the lapband site or I'd probably be going down that road.

Valentine's Day... What Will You Weigh???

Juliarh - You are killing me woman! Started out a pound heavier and have lost way more than I have. Yes I'm comparing myself. I wanted to see who had a simular starting weight and goal weight for this challenge and you are wooping me! You go! Diva- Thought you were a slow loser? Might have to kick you out of that thread if you keep this up. Good work everyone! Can't wait to see what the coming weeks bring.

    Dont want the Sleeve

I'd so not get bypass the long term weight loss stats on it aren't pretty. VSG can be turned into DS later and vsg is a much easier surgery to recover time. Being a bigger person you don't want to be limited in mobility and also the heavier you are the more risky the surgery. VSG is a quick surgery with fairly easy recovery.

    Birth Control after VSG

I wouldn't say you would be okay since you dont' have a risk. The risk factors for blood clots are obesity, birthcontrol, smoking, and major surgery. It doesn't matter if you have had one or not. I had one in '03 and they are nothing to mess with. It was because of all the factors I listed even though there was no history of blood clot anywhere in my family and if I wouldnt' have been fat and on bc it probably wouldnt' have happened.

    Birth Control after VSG

I have the IUD the copper one, no horomones. IT is a perfect birthcontrol method and so fuss free! LOVE IT!
  22. Yep like the others said it happens to everyone. I actually gained 2lbs and totally freaked. I posted and was so grateful to the ppl who responded to quite my fears.

    Everyone Says Something Different!

Yeah! That! I don't sip while I'm eating and the reason is, it makes my tummy feel weird. I drink up till I take my first bite and I try to drink a lot because I find once I take the first bite it's too late to drink and feel comfortable. I typically wait 30 minutes after eating to drink again. Really makes me think about my meals. Am I going to be thirsty? Then I should drink before I eat. Sometimes I find I wasn't hungry anyway, just thirsty and soemtimes it gives me more time to think about my food choice.

So, how much can you eat??

I started eggs at about 3 weeks out and it I could eat 3/4 of one in about 15 minutes. I'm a fast eater and always have been. I'm a little over 3 months out now and I can eat a whole egg in about 5 minutes and 2 bites of toast. I'm stuffed after that. Seems the most I can get in is a cup of food. Last night I had 3 chicken wings and 2 french fries. STUFFED. 1 cup of soup sits very nicely. 1/2 a cup of cottage cheese with nuts on top, 1 peice of toast with 1/2 a piece of cheese and 2 slices ham. Those are typical meals for me.
  25. To me it sounds like you need to eat more meals (small ones) and up your calorie intake. I'd write down every thing you ate and see where you are at in a week. To say he's disapointed and then not give you any info sucks. Like another person said I'd def see a NUT. Did you have the traditional sleeve or the plication? Who did your surgery?
