NSV shout outs
SouthernSleever replied to BobBayCityMI's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
My weight has been so slow recently (cry) but I have had a few NSVs I'd like to share. When I went to work out the other day and did the stationary bike I could see between my thighs where as I couldnt' before. I ran on the treadmill for like 3 minutes while still holding a convo Walking out of the Chiro's office I gave my husband a scare because he thought someone else was taking our son. "I saw some thin woman with our son by the hand then realized it was you." Getting my Saturday massage by hubby he said, "Its amazing how everywhere I touch now has bones sticking out." AND I'm shoping totally in the regular section now. I PAID OFF AND CUT UP MY LANE BRYANT CARD! FU LANE BRYANT (excpet your bras ) -

DR> ACEVES: SERIOUSLY, NOW
SouthernSleever replied to crosswind's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I believe that anyone can have complications. Dr Aceves and their team do their part to minimize the risks. Could they have messed up? Sure! DId they? I don't know. I know I had Dr Aceves do my surgery and I received much better care there than here in the US. I'd send anyone to him including my Mom or friends or even hubby. -

Oh No... Not the "What if''s"!!!!
SouthernSleever replied to Can'tweight's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the same "what if's" as you. It's hard, I admit it. But it's so easy too. It's great and it's impowering. What if you didn't constantly think of food What if you didn't feel like white knuckling it to lose weight What if you didn't recognize yourself in the mirror What if you woke each day with a spring in your step What if? -
You know you've been sleeved when.....

SouthernSleever replied to 2bslimkim's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That reminds me of when I went to Shoneys with my Mom and kids (My kids love that place...ugh!) and I ordered a steak. It was a little over cooked but I took just 3 bites of it and I was done. The waitress asked if everything was okay, I said yes just fine. Then Mgr came by and asked and I said, "Yes, it's fine. Thank you." She took the plate away and when we got the bill they had taken the steak off my check. I even told the lady at the register that the steak was fine. I'm not going to lie and say it was good, cause it wasn't but I wasn't complaining! -

How much willpower does it take?
SouthernSleever replied to Estella's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I will say that the ways the VSG have helped me is that I don't constantly think about food. Before when I woke up it was "What to eat" now hours and hours go by and I feel a funny feeling in my tummy and relize it's hunger. It has made a huge difference. I am an emotion eater so when I get bored or tired I still go to food but eating 1/2 of a blt is a lot better than the 2 whole ones plus chips I would eat before. I try not to eat till "full full" I eat until I feel like I've had enough then stop. Doesn't his awalys work? No, sometimes I want more of whatever it is, I eat more and feel bad. I probably have something sweet once a day. I'm losing slow and its' because I choose to have treats here and there. I get that. I don't get in enough fluids or enough veggies. The point of my post is that you can still lose with the vsg by being middle of the road however don't expect to see these huge numbers like a few of the all stars unless you stick to the rules. -

Dating Fears When It's All Over With
SouthernSleever replied to notsochubbybritneyspears's topic in Singles Forum
If someone isn't attracted to you they just aren't. It doesn't make them a bad person. There are somethings in men I find unattractive so I wouldn't try to be in a relationship with them, if those things changed my attraction to them might also change. As much as I would like to think looks don't matter, they do. -
I have the Diva cup, it's pretty cool. Haven't had any problems with it.

Unsupportive Sister and Mother
SouthernSleever replied to kpbrighton's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My mother and aunt were very against me having the surgery. I told them that there is no doubt I will get diabetes. That the more I gain the harder it will be for me to move and then lose weight. I showed them stats and even showed my mother this site. Finally I told my mother that this was my choice and I would like to have her support. I made it clear her not supporting me wouldn't change my mind. My aunt really just wanted to make sure I had done my homework. Even if they decided not to support you, we will. -

Changed Surgeon's??
SouthernSleever replied to Can'tweight's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Go with your instincts! I had a bad feeling about my Dr in 2003 but was unable to change surgeons (No one wanted to touch anything he had done) I ended up with a pulmonary embolism and a horrible scar. I had to have 8 days in the hospital, almost died, and have another surgeon fix his work.
