SouthernSleever replied to laladotdot's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Shoot pig out but the week before surgery go LOW LOW carb and get that fat off your liver, you dont want any complications. -

How many times and for how long were ur stalls?
SouthernSleever replied to Loooou's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What you are eating looks good however I wouldn't include popsicles as anything but a treat. Sure they count toward fluids but they do nothing nutritionally for you. I would add in some veggies or fruits as you are bound to get constipated on that diet. Maybe have a hard boiled egg for a snack instead of popsicle or some peices of fruit. -

5 days post op... white tongue?
SouthernSleever replied to smacbeth's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's not ketosis it's thrush. Eat some unsweetened yogurt, take probiotics, and get some mouthwash from your Doctor. No biggie. -

You aren't eating enough. Up your protien and calories and watch that weight drop faster than a drunk chick at a frat party. -
When people starting treating you nicer
SouthernSleever replied to USMCwifeandTEACHER's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Oh yes, I get treated so differently even by family. I know that they loved me but it's like how anmals and people in general tend to shy away from creatures who are dying and we were. If someone was sad and unhappy and it showed externally, like it does with us fat people, then you would find those people excluded more often. Since our major reason for being live is to reproduce I think a lot of the Men folk have it ingrained in their head to try to lure the women who would give them the best offspring which is not someone who is obese. I am just happy being on the other side and I always make it a point to be extra nice to those struggling with weight issues. -
Woke up choking on acid!!
SouthernSleever replied to kellyw74's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Happened to me all the time around month 6. Do not eat 2 hours before bed. Lay low on fluids an hour before bed. Take your PPI the same time everyday and have tums on hand. I'm 10 months out and it's pretty much stopped. -
Am I being a brat?
SouthernSleever replied to CultLogic's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wouldn't say you are being a brat however the big holdup seems to be the class you missed. I would call the office and ask if there is another way you can make it up, perhaps meeting 1 on 1 with a nutritionist or tell them you will be on call anytime they have a cancel. Call the day of ever meeting and see if you can nudge your way in. If you want you could call your surgeon's office and just say, "I'm a little perplexed at the speed things are going. If I were to change surgeons at this point would have to start all over?" They might tell you yes just so you won't change but it also might kick their ass into gear. Also call around and ask some other surgeons what would happen if you did switch. -
DEFECTIVE SLEEVE?????
SouthernSleever replied to italianlady13's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
On another note I wouldn't go for fat free, your body needs the fat but the mashpotatoes gotta go and so do icecreams fatfree or not! -
Eating Slowly
SouthernSleever replied to Bryn Dawson's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't eat slow now nor have I ever. I did measure my food carefully when I was first out so I didn't overeat (thougth I still did sometimes and got the slimes). Anyway it's not that big of a deal IMO -
FINALLY I figured out what was going on!
SouthernSleever replied to mp8btpc's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hey girlie! Good to hear from you! I was on pain killers for ankle surgery in 03 and straight got addicted to them as in when I stopped taking them I would go through shakes and sweats and nausea. I stopped taking them but it sure does make you realize a little of what an addict goes through. I gained quite a bit of weight drurring that time too. Keep in touch we miss you! -
I don't mind, I'm sure a lot of work goes into maintaining a site. THOUGH I will say having to log in everytime i come to the page is on my last nerve.

What is the one significant thing in your life that you can do now...
SouthernSleever replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Shop in the regular women's section. I have been in plus sized since middle school. I cross my legs without thinking about it. I love to have my picture taken. I'm able to live my life without what I'm eating that day (ooo i can have doughnuts in the morning) consuming my thoughts. I don't daydream in the same way. I used to always dream bout being thin, what I would sacrafice if I could have one wish, I don't do that anymore. It's freeing. -
Desperate for support from my Husband to have VSG
SouthernSleever replied to HappyFace's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have hubs go with you on your appointments and tell him his support is vital to you even if he doesn't agree. Let him vent worries about you dying and talk about the reality of staying the weight you are. You will die from being very overweight, this is a chance for you to be healthy. I'd also explain to him how obese people have 4x the amount of the hunger horomone and you are basically white knuckling it without some sort of intervention. Furthermore less than 10% of ppl who lose weight keep it off after 5 years (by conventional means). Finally you have to do it for yourself. He is your partner but not you. You have to do it for you. -
Need some suggestios for Protein Soups...plus what do you mix the unflavored protein powder in?
SouthernSleever replied to SuperMom's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Unjury makes a great chicken broth. I still have an entire can of it just because I was sick of drinking broth but you can use it to make all kinds of soups.
