Dr. Alvarez reviews
SouthernSleever replied to Cremedream's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I've heard good things about Alvarez but you can't rely on one post in one forum to get all the info on a surgeon. Check out google, obesityhelp, and youtube. Use the search because most people don't post after say 6-8 months post-op. -
What does dumping syndrome feel like with the sleeve?
SouthernSleever replied to ava2011's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If I eat too fast or too much I get sliming. IF I eat too many sweets, like I had 1/2 a piece of rich pecan pie last Holiday, I suddenly feel very tired and sick. My heart races and I feel like I need to lay down. I actually went to sleep on the table at the Waffle house after that pie. -
One Year Sleeversary
SouthernSleever replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Diva you are amazing, beautiful, inspiring, compassionate, honest, inclusive, and a hard worker! Did I mention SEXY?! That deserves it's own sentence! We are so lucky to have you on the board and congrats on all your successes you have worked for every pound and inch of your loss! -
extra skin anyone??????
SouthernSleever replied to kalyssa8392's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think being 19 you are going to be fine! I wouldn't worry at all about your skin at that age. The skin is more about genetics but just like bewbs you can keep things lifted to keep gravity from pulling the skin down. Some people wear shapers but seriously I wouldn't worry about it at your age. -
September 27th is my date!! Now my marriage has gone from bad to worse!!
SouthernSleever replied to HappyFace's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I stick by "DO IT FOR YOURSELF!" He is scared, seek counseling if you are concerned for your marriage but DO NOT BACK OUT. Your children need you around. -
Dr. Aceves or Dr. Alvarez....advise?
SouthernSleever replied to Ellie4me's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Dr. Aceves hands down. If my kids, hubby, or any friends wanted to have this surgery in the future, regardless of insurance, we would pay out of pocket to have Aceves do it. You just can't beat his complication record, the cleanliness of the hospital, and the success of his patients. -
Sure you can. I will warn you though that you might get sick. Anything with too much sugar and my heart races and I feel like I have dumping syndrome. I had a milkshake about 3 weeks out had a few bites of it and I was done.

Would you sleeve again?
SouthernSleever replied to Ellie4me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If I gained all my weight back in 6 months. Just poof it was back, this last year, the 12k loan would be all worth it. I wish I had this done when I was 16. This is the SINGLE BEST THING I HAVE DONE (aside from my beautiful kids)! -
Daisy! Good to see you around! You look fantastic!

People robbed at the recovery...
SouthernSleever replied to Diamondeyed's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Yup, he's right. Being on these boards about 18 months any vet will tell you he has a pretty high complication rate. -
Yep, Diva is right. I said I wouldn't do plastics, that I'd just be happy to get the weight off. However once I did get the weight off I didn't want the unbelieveable sagginess that went along with it. My tummy is my biggest issue since it's making me have to buy larger wasted pants just to account for the extra skin. Once I get that done I will get my boobs one day. I have had breast since the 3rd grade so these puppies have been pointing south for a long time. I've nursed both my kids for a long time and they have done their job but I want them to be full and perky! Never say never!

Has this happened to you?
SouthernSleever replied to FishingNurse's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep, it's called Sliming -
Well...the good is you can wear all the cutesy bras and matching panties. The bad? The cups are mostly filled with extra skin, not boob. From a 44 E-F to a 36 D

Ugh! I started smoking too and it sucks. I can feel my body getting worse as I continue to smoke. Monday is my goal to quit. If you look at my loss in December I grazed a lot on sweets, being the holidays, and also my body had a moment of "Wait! ARE WE STARVING?" So each month is up and down. I pulled up my boots and watched my carbs after that. Been pretty steady since!

is Vertical Sleeve FDA approved?
SouthernSleever replied to Mariposa Bella's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's not a drug or device so the FDA doesn't have anything to do with it. -
How long before you stopped losing weight
SouthernSleever replied to Loooou's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How long have you been stalled for? I read back but it's a lot of posts and didn't see it. The way my body works is I stall for 3 weeks and gain 2-3 lbs then one week it starts dropping off. Rinse and repeat. Charting my weightloss really seems to help. Another thing is you should eat lots of small meals. Think of a bear, big and fat right? They eat huge meals and their body stores away the food for energy. Think of a deer, they eat all day long and stay very thin. Their body understands that they will be getting more food and takes that as an okay to burn what it has. Your calories look very low to me and if I were you I'd add in more fats. Show us what you eat for meals and we can be of more assistance. -
What made you do it?
SouthernSleever replied to CT Fats's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I had been going out with my bestfriend to a bar for a couple months. My weight had creeped up to almost my highest I was at about 268ish. I was fine with being the girl that never got hit on but one night I noticed that not only was I that girl but I was the girl that people looked away from and made a point not to talk to. It was like I was invisible. Then my friend and I took a picture together. I was sweaty and FAT. She said, "That's a great picture of you, you are so beautiful." I hated to look at myself and was starting to hate myself as well. My body was starting to hurt and I was worried about diabetes. -
For me, it really depends on the day. Drinking before, during, or after doesn't affect how much I can eat though sometimes it can make me feel fuller faster if I drink with my meals. It certainly doesn't have the effect of washing food down out of my tummy quicker. I think it depends on the consistency of food, how much you chew, and how long you took to eat. If you had sat down and had a meal I doubt you could have gotten in 2 tacos. For instance today I had Wings and I was starving. Ate 3 wings quickly and didn't chew well and I was stuffed. Yesterday I was chatting with a friend eating at Waffle House. I had 2 pieces of bacon, an egg, and a piece of toast and was comfortable but I chewed very well and it was stretched over a longer period of time.
