I Had My Gastric Sleeve Surgery On _____, And So Far Have Lost _____.
SouthernSleever replied to sabrina140's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I had my surgery on October 8th 2010. 5lbs lost preop and 117 pounds gone total. -
It's so worth it to use a coordinator at least in my experience. I used Nina with Dr Aceves and she answered all my phone calls, got in contact with Dr A whenever I had a question and got RIGHT back to me. With the slew of questions I had post op her work was invaluable.

My Plastics Journey - My first one (of several)
SouthernSleever replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Diva you look amazing! I'm following your plastic's journey so close. My thighs and knees need some help too but I think they need both lipo and a lift. When I lost the weight I thought "at most I'll get a TT" well now i'm thinking, if I had the money I'd get a full body lift done. I'm scared about healing though, I read a lot of stuff in the Plastic's forum and some people have very major complications. I'm glad you are finally feeling good and may you feel GREAT tomorrow! -
I LOVE SMOKING, there I said it....
SouthernSleever replied to Raine's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Okay so I was at a pack a day. I started back in June and for the last 3 days I have been smoking 3 cigs or less a day. I thought about going ot the ecig BUT i read that the amount of Nicotine can very so much depending on several factors and some where dangerously high. Also that the vapor has never been tested as far as inhaling it several times a day. I'm sure ecigs are better but just not sure how much better. -
Vertical Sleeve vs Band
SouthernSleever replied to medicgipson's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started out looking at lapband but then I visited the revision or failed weight loss surgery board. The more I read the more I knew that my previous first choice, lap band was now my last choice. With the complications I would have about any of the surgeries before lapband. -
Plateau for almost 2 months (again!)
SouthernSleever replied to M2G's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Stay away from High Fructose Corn Syrup/Fructose in general but I would go all out on glucose (pastas good breads fruits) and see what happens. I think the fiber that you would be getting from those foods might give your body a little boost and kinda of a "Hey we are getting fed, maybe we can burn some of this leftover fat". I'm interested to see what happens! -

Completely F*%King LOST
SouthernSleever replied to MustangAli's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You are setting up a cycle of self hate. Hate because you are fat, hate because you have binged. You have NOT stretched your sleeve you will throw up before you do this. Listen a 3lb gain doesn't mean you actually gained that weight. Every month I gain between 3-5 and then lose it again. BUT I will not lose as much of it if I make poor food choices. How do I keep from making poor food choices? Don't buy it if I can't control myself with it. I say, "But my kids or my husband haven't had surgery, they deserve X" the fact is they will become obese like me if I continue to do this. CUT OUT HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP! This "sugar" doesn't signal to your brain that you have eaten anything at all so you continue to eat more and more of it. If you want a sweet or chips or a beer have some but not everyday and only have them when you go out. STOP the self hate. Look how far you have come! You are eating 1 whole hamburger OMG (drama) how much would you have eaten preop? -
How do you all handle Restaurants?
SouthernSleever replied to janetrupp's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Kid's meal, side item, soup, appetizer, split hubby's food (though he usually eats it all), or (my fav) as for a to go buffet. They will usually give you a box to go and you can fill it up then eat what you want and take the rest home. -

Read up on Dr Almanza before you make your choice. There have been some bad stories about him and his practice. I've heard great things about Dr Kelly though. -

SouthernSleever replied to DougNichols's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Hey you! Good to hear from you again. I have to say the one post I remember from you had to be where you were very negative towards women when you were talking about dating. I can totally understand as I've been on the flip side of that, dating as a fat girl back in the day. I have to say though that your outlook seems to have improved so much, which is what your post is about more than anything. Have you dated post op? Any reflections on that? WTG on all that working out btw, I NEEED someone to be a b***h to me at the gym! -
Welcome! You are going to love your sleeve and your hunger is gone for the most part. You don't really need a lot of thing BUT I would invest in some premier protein shakes.

LOW Carb! Keep your carbs below 30 a day and you will drop that weight. The SLEEVE IS THE BEST! I've never regretted it 1 second since I got it! -

Congrats to you and friendships post-op have been difficult for me. You are just boarding onto the best ride of your life. Some dips but mostly you will be touching the clouds. -
Bruised but not Broken
SouthernSleever replied to klus263's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Wow, you are lucky to be alive! We were in a similar but not as bad accident the day before I left to get my sleeve. If I could give you any advice it would be to contact a lawyer now. I thought I was just shaken, nothing broken, and was prepared to just dealing with the other person's insurance but since I have had major back pain which I didn't know would be life long till later. Your lawyer will take care of insuring that you get the care (chiropractic/physical therapy) even long after the wreck while their insurance company will only want to pay for a small portion and then nothing after a year. In a wreck like that you surely had neck/back injuries even if their aren't any broken bones. -

LAPBAND? Not yelling at you but those are FAILBANDS! They destroy people's stomachs and have all kinds of problems and are even riskier than the VSG. If you decide to get a lapband send me the money and i'll punch ya in the gut a few times, might save ya some heartache.
