That burning can be scar tissue too. Sometimes when you stretch or move in a certain way, it pulls. Even though it hurts, the good news is, that it is a good thing when you tear that scar tissue. It can keep you from being restricted later.

WOW, you are doing so well. That's a lot of weight loss! Keep it up, and best of luck with your surgery.

Uncharted waters-letting go and moving on
Maddie replied to citygal's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
You really got my attention (and got me teary). I wish for you all the things you are working so hard to achieve. Thank you for showing me a better perspective on how to view weight loss. It's so easy to get caught up in just the physical aspect of it and I think keeping our "true" goals in sight can help us stay motivated even more. -
ideas for visual/psychological adjustment to our new tiny portions
Maddie replied to Globetrotter's topic in Food and Nutrition
I actually got bento boxes for me and my grandchildren. I always try to make things fun for them when they come to spend the night. They love the bento boxes and are always very anxious to see what's in them this time. I like my bento box, but as Christie said, is now too big. So, I'll have to hunt for something else. Target here I come, LOL. -

Frustrated...
Maddie replied to NadiaLinISgoing2beThin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 3 weeks out and still have water weight and swelling. So, I don't know your particular situation but I know we all lose at different rates. Also, I have heard of many folks hitting a 3 week stall. Wish I had something to offer as advice. Just hang in there and do what you know is right and it will kick in soon. -
Has anyone gone out of the country alone?
Maddie replied to BlackBerryJuice's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't been, but my understanding is that they meet you at the airport and escort you to the resort. I'm sure someone will fill you in, but from all I have heard, I wouldn't be concerned. -
Everyone felt scared and excited at the same time, it's nuts. LOL you'll do fine, just remember to sip, sip, sip and walk, walk, walk. Best of luck and keep us posted.

There's part of the problem, her husband complimenting you. LOL I bet she couldn't wait to find reason to tear into you. Also, I'm with you...that "oh but you have a nice face" crap is so demeaning. You know in my opinion people wouldn't butt into your life so much if they weren't so lacking in self-confidence in the first place. Insecure people always try to find fault with others. Don't defend yourself or your choices. Like mini said, if she keeps going, politely excuse yourself. Hang in there, we're with you.

Woo Hoo! Gratz on getting to Onederland. It's great to hear the your happiness is showing to others too. How wonderful for you. Best of luck as you keep dropping the pounds.

It is most likely nothing but Ouch!
Maddie replied to zephra's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My dr said the same thing. At about 2 weeks out, adhesions (scar tissue) has formed to the point that you can feel it "pull" sometimes when you move your body certain ways. -
Well, I haven't lost enough to see a difference in the girls but I won't mind losing some there. Like pcindy said, I won't miss the back ache or strap pain. I too am looking forward to shopping for sexy bras.

I guess it varies from doctor to doctor. But, mine said not to take capsules. Check with your own dr and see what advice you get.

Gratz Will. I'm glad you are doing well, and hope that darn gas lets up soon. Walking is the best thing you can do, just remember to sip, sip, sip. Take care, and best of luck. Keep us posted.

My First NSV-I am happy about sagging skin!
Maddie replied to zephra's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Woo Hoo! That is sooooo cool! I am thrilled for you. Very cool for you to see proof even though the scale isn't moving, that will let you trust in the fact that you are doing things right and not to become to dependent on that dang scale. Best of luck on your continued success. you're doing great! -
Two days after my last post, I went for my 1st post-op follow up. The dr was very concerned with how much my stomach was distended, how much Fluid I was retaining, and with the noises he heard in my chest. He called ahead to the E.R. so they would be ready for me. The X-ray did in fact show pneumonia. Fortunately the CT scan of my chest and intestines showed no blockage or bleeding. So, I was readmitted, got another pic line and started getting pumped full of drugs again. The dr seems to think that my belly sticking out is the result of the bleed I had after my surgery. I still have a lot of abdominal pain and swelling, but am very glad to be home. I'm still on antibiotics and will be for another week. I'm giving myself 3 heparin shots a day to prevent clotting. (When a nurse said she needed to give me a heparin shot in my tummy, I told her that if she did that I may become violent and then asked her if she had seen Pulp Fiction. LOL) Now I am so far behind schedule that I can see my own ass and it looks just like before. My weight at consult 257 My weight pre-op 238 My weight release from hospital 262 :biggrin0: Hubby keeps reminding me that I will eventually start losing weight, but to be honest, I just want to feel better. Thanks for all the well wishes. You are all wonderful.

Anything that comes in a capsule, has to be opened and you take it like that. I just put it as far back on my tongue as possible and then wash it down. Any other pills can be crushed. The exception to crushing pills, is if any of them are "CR", controlled release. CR pills can't be crushed, but it's possible that the dr can switch you to the regular version. Before my surgery, I even got Tylenol and Benadryl in liquid form so I would have them on hand if needed.

I'm sorry for the set back, but the dr is right that you need to be in tip top shape for the surgery. One thing that can help is doing deep breathing exercises everyday. Best of luck.

Sounds like you pretty much have it covered. I drank lots of Crystal Lite when I first got home because for some reason it seemed to go down easier for me than plain water. Don't know why, but it did. I use a Magic Bullet instead of a blender for my protein shakes, it does add more air but they mix better. I just let them sit for the air to go out. Also, the Magic Bullet is great for the "mushy" phase, it helps get all the lumps and bumps out of your mushy foods. Best of luck.

Aww Katt, LOL. Thanks sweetie.

What does your pre-op diet look like??
Maddie replied to brighteyes0919's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to do a week of liquids pre-op. But, as Sparkle said it varies from doctor to doctor. I agree, cutting back on carbs is a good place to start. One of the main things I read over and over before my surgery, was to cut back on your portion sizes now to help you later. Also taking smaller bites and chewing more thoroughly. This helps prevent you from getting that "stuck" feeling from eating too fast after surgery. Best of luck. -
2 days post op and food dreams
Maddie replied to Morgandobes's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is so funny, I hardly ever watch TV, but the first few days home, I watched the food channel non stop. What's up with that? LOL Truly, I think enough time on liquids could make anyone obsess about food. Full liquids will help. Glad you're home. Best wishes on your continued recovery.
