The tipping point- 1 pound away from an important goal
Maddie replied to citygal's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Gratz on reaching such a milestone on your journey. It is refreshing to hear of someone truly appreciating the place they are at now instead of obsessing about the finish line. I think most of us miss out on relishing real achievements because we don't "live in the now" and take the time to enjoy what we have accomplished. Thanks for the eye opener and best of luck on your continued success. -

Thanks! That's pretty cool. -
After 4 weeks, 3 more days is nothing. I know you can hang in there a few more days. Just think of how nice it will be to have those first few bites of regular food.

That is absolutley wonderful. YAY!

Down 40 pounds, and no one noticed today:)
Maddie replied to lavonwarrior's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Aww, I'm so sorry that happened. I wish I had an explanation, but, I know in the past that has happened to me. I don't know about you, but my weight used to fluctuate so much that I think folks were used to seeing me different sizes. So unless it was really drastic, they didn't notice. Not sure if that could be the case with you or not. Hang in there. I know it's tough and can really hurt your feelings, but at least the people at the office are noticing. Besides that, I bet the next time you see these ppl, they are going to be beside themsleves! The rewards have been slow going for me too, but they will come. Hugs, Maddie -

I felt exactly the same way prior to my surgery. It is very exciting. But, it will be here before you know and you will be off to a new life. Best of luck. -

Hubby's 1 Month Progress Pics
Maddie replied to CraftyChristie's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Christie, I hope Ian reads this.... Ian, you look amazingly different in the before and after photos. I can't believe how well you have done. I can see the changes in your body, but I have to say, in the pics of you and Christie together, your face and neck look soooo much slimmer, you look like a different person. Just imagine, this is only the beginning. WOW. My hat is off to both of you for doing so well. Keep up the good work. -
It sounds like you already got some pretty good advice. I'm sure this is normal and will happen to all of us from time to time. Hang in there.

You can eat a lot more soup than you can solids, because it goes through your sleeve so fast. I would wait until you get to solid food to try to see how much your new tummy can really hold. I have no idea what size mine is and couldn't be bothered. I have heard great success stories from ppl who had all different sizes. I trusted my surgeon to make the right choice and decided not to obsess over the size of the bougie. From what I understand it has so much to do with the surgeon's technique anyway.

Dang, you stole my list! LOL Well, it may as well be my list, it's so similar. With this surgery, we now have the opportunity to actually cross things off that list. Best of luck crossing of yours!

Are you taking a PPI, like Nexium. I don't know if that's the answer, but I do know that some ppl have had discomfort and got relief with a PPI.

I was standing in the kitchen, when hubby came walking through. I gave him a hug and all of a sudden it occurred to me that I wasn't leaning in to hug him. My tummy has been in the way for years, but now I can stand up straight to hug him. He noticed too, it was awesome.

The anxiety is normal. For me, it didn't go away until the surgery was over. I can completely understand about hitting the wall after 25 lbs. I only lost more than that on maybe 2 occasions, and it didn't come easy then. I'm only 1 month out, but I'm not worried about the sleeve not continuing to work for me. The further out I get, the more comfortable with it I get. I find it hard to believe I am saying this, but I have already gotten used to the smaller portion sizes. I can't even imagine trying to eat a large portion. It just seems very natural now. As far as your co-workers. If you don't want them to know what's up, so be it. It's nobody's business unless you want it to be. There is no reason that they can't simply buy into the fact that you are changing your eating habits in an attempt to get healthier, after all that's the truth, isn't it? You have to pamper your body after any kind of surgery, not just WLS. But, soon those days fade away and you are focused on your new life. Best of luck, I wish for you a speedy recovery. I hope you will keep us posted as to your progress.
